It's weird how the VN has this way darker and mysterious atmosphere while the anime adaptations are way less somber in tone. I wish the anime had more of this feeling to it, even the Heaven's Feel movies don't come close to this.
It's because pacing and lot of character development is not easy to adapted it from novel to big screen, hell even a lof of Shirou's monologue to represent us as reader don't even properly showed up.

I didn't know how much of a stone cold badass Shirou was until I heard this music at the end of UBW and HF. In the movie, Shirou belts out the aria for UBW, but in the VN, he calmly says each line with complete assurance as Rho Aius is breaking in front of him. And then the cold and awesome of the one-liner...truly incredible. The same with Shirou tanking and ignoring all of those hits from Angra Mainyu near the end of HF as he walks on unfazed to save Sakura. This music sells his awesomeness as much as Emiya.
When I started playing fgo and the Fuyuki map music shocked me. It's the remix of this track, which marked as the beginning of this legendary franchise.

There are wihout denying big issues over all three lines, and even though i love them all, my biggest problem with it was the sexual abuse in heavens feel. I by myself have no problem with the portrayal of things like that in movies or games, but if you show us an innocent girl getting raped by side characters, and afterwords getting raped by the main character is not the best way of showing us the problem. If that was a minor thing it wouldn't be that much of a deal for me but rape isn't that minor. By the way that magical energy through sex thing was also just made to implement some eroge. Still, i think the first two and especially the first on were absolute masterpieces. I really like heavens feels ideas and story but the end (happily ever after) just didn't come up to my expectations.

Sure, Shirou gets to live with Sakura, but at what price? He saw how his sister, the one who he would have killed everyone in the whole world to protect, sacrificed herself in order to save him. That trauma won't disappear easily. Also, his body gets destroyed and is changed by one of Touko's cheaper Puppets. And we have also lots of Bad Ends. Mind Of Steel, is that 'happy' in anyway? Shirou literally becomes Kiritsugu 2.0 there. Sparks Liner High, Shirou fights Saber Alter on his own just to buy some minutes for Rin, and even then she probably lost. HF isn't 'happy' at all, my friend.

The erotic component of the novel/game felt at times forced and irrelevant to the story, but it didn't have a very negative impact on my impression of it. In regard to the three routes, I must say, I was much more impressed and inspired by Heaven's Feel than the other two routes, and I am in fact least impressed with the Fate route. I'd even go as far as saying that I wouldn't consider this work to be a "masterpiece" if Heaven's Feel was not a part of it. Of course, the word "masterpiece" has a very context-dependent meaning. If one is to be a "perfectionist" of some sort, he might not want to call this work a masterpiece since (at least from my perspective) it is clearly quite flawed in many ways.

I remember getting into this game back in like 2010. it took me 3 years to do all the routes lol, then a tornado destroyed my house and i lost all my data, looking back i guess i'm glad i completed the routes and the stories because i wouldnt like fate series as much having not played the vn.
I'm in the middle of playing fate rn and I literally during school/homework/anything can't take my mind off it lol. But this song is too good man. It drips atmosphere almost like it's telling you you're about to get into some pretty unknown/occult shit that's dangerous as fuck and that there's a rich history to the story about to unfold (especially because of the sleigh bells. Sleigh bells just give off occult vibes to me).
You just need "VirtualDub" and "MKVtoolnix" Get a PNG image and open it in VirtualDub. Set the framerate to 1. Then copy & paste the video frame with the image over and over until your video is however long you want it to be. Then set the video compression codec to something TH-cam accepts (I personally use "CamStudio Lossless" set to LZ0 compression level 1). Then save your new video as an AVI. Now open MKVtoolnix and import your AVI and a FLAC file. Upload the resulting MKV to TH-cam.

Funny but slightly inaccurate. Shirou doesn't want to die or kill himself. He wants to save others, however if it costs him his life, he is ok with that. One implies actively wanting to die whereas the other implies acceptance that he may die while trying to follow his ideal.

+Jafroboy Actually the VN dumps you directly into the prologue. If you quit without finished the prologue, then the next time you launch the VN it'll still dump you directly into the prologue until you actually finish the prologue.
If u want this music as title screen just skip through the prologue in the extra menu. thats how u change the title music. Load a save close to saber ending if u want sorrow as background during title, sakura normal end for new dawn, etc.

@@L_Rod the adaptations, spin-offs (excluding the intentionally light hearted ones), and so on have kinda lost the mystique that Fate/Stay Night had.

+Jafroboy Actually the VN dumps you directly into the prologue. If you quit without finished the prologue, then the next time you launch the VN it'll still dump you directly into the prologue until you actually finish the prologue.
If u want this music as title screen just skip through the prologue in the extra menu. thats how u change the title music. Load a save close to saber ending if u want sorrow as background during title, sakura normal end for new dawn, etc.
