Sunbathing on the beach seems safe enough but some people have been killed by falling coconuts. It's all a matter of perspective.

IF the law is changed anyway lol, I personally hope it is, 250w struggles too much with hills.

    750w-1000w should be minimum.
I tried 250w and it’s way too slow therefore dangerous keeping up with traffic.
    500w is the minimum.
750w and above is safer. 💯

500w is good for trying out beginning and getting comfortable with the idea of electric pupulsion but for serious journeys carrying shopping weight or a small friend/ child 1000w/1500w used sensibly will do the do.

What I see as the problem with the non realistic laws the government pass in this country is in the majority of degrees/cases they don't live and experience the laws they pass theory and practice are two separate realities.

I have to commute using a 250w ebike and I agree with you on it a 100%, I have to use 70% of my energy just to accelerate off stoplights so cars behind me don't have to honk at my weak ass E-mtb, 500w is a minimum and 1000w should be alright but 2kw should be perfect for the moments where "When in doubt, throttle it out"

The law is as good as the non ebiker making it 😂

1300w should be the minimum if you have safety in mind and that’s still underpowered in welsh hills 250w is for toys lol

I’m not sure about that. I have a 350w Yose Power conversion kit Scott bike and my wife a fully legal 250w RooDog. She’s a lot lighter than me, we’re not that fit and have got up some pretty serious hills, putting in some effort with the gears and our legs. So I think there are a few variables at play like rider weight, fitness level and the amount of difficult terrain in your area. I’d agree that thumb throttles should be allowed, maximum power increased to at least 500w and maximum speed to around 25mph. Not that I think it’s being policed much or at all? Plenty of Deliveroo guys zooming around town on e-bikes with huge hub motors around here and I don’t see them getting their collars felt😂

My bike peaks at 1500w and I'm in the forest of dean so it's very hilly in some areas. I slow down to like 12mph or even less. If I was a legal ebiker I'd be screwed.

      250w WAY TOO SLOW.
Lets cap cars at 50HP and see how they do…
Then they will understand how it doesn’t make sense whatsoever!

Two years ago I bought two for £750 each my wife fell off twice out of the four times we used them I’ve tried to buying stabilisers.
Hill starts are easy,30kg isn’t heavy but try stacking them and at arms length. The derailleur is Shimano entry they bend easily, I upgraded them once bent they can go inside the rim and start wearing through it.
Brakes are lacking a little but good replacing them isn’t as simple as you think, they cut power to the motor when you brake.
The motors aren’t regenerating so won’t put power back into the battery on down hills which would also assist with braking. There’s a light a horn and around 20mm of rear suspension adjustment.
They assist even when not required ie on the flat there’s three settings that are all the same. The side stands aren’t to be trusted. They’re restricted you can derestrict I tried them but got Error code 4? 15.5 mph is fast enough to break bones anyway.

I like the look of the Titan more than the M1, rear suspension is too much maintenance in the long term and probably not needed if you can set up tubeless on these...

    • @DudeStuff
      @DudeStuff  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

@c0der1020 the law is electronically limited to 250w max which most bikes are. Even a 250w 36v bike will peak over 250w unless limited. The majority of ebikes are limited to 15mph electronically by the controller fitted.

You can pedal a bike at 50mph on a 30mph road you wouldn't be breaking any laws.. But can only go 15mph on a 250W E-bike. you can pedal as fast as you want. "crazy UK laws" can someone explain..🤔

Well an unlocked 250 watt continuous power hub can peak at 500 watt and is capable of 25MPH so not much difference really The sneaky fitting of the thumb throttle makes no real difference

    • @ivanpetrov2280

Now imagine 500w nominal unlocked to its peak power 😊😊😊 close to 1000 i believe. The throttle is one of the best thing ebike can have it. I not mean for a lazy cruising which is allright. But like a parent i learn my son how to cross roads when we go to the park. Sometimes we walk with the bikes, but sometimes when we are at the crossing i tell him to use the throttle for faster crossing the road, instead of preparing his pedals and cycling .

@@ivanpetrov2280 Now imagine going faster than 25 MPH using brakes that are made to stop you from speeds of 20 MPH and smashing into the side of a car as it pulls out because the driver misjudges your speed to be at the legal limit Is your Insurance for damage to other people going to pay I prefer the 20 MPH speed myself The police in the UK are starting to test ebikes on the side of the road using a sort of mobile rolling road Takes you into the unlicenced uninsured not MOT zone of a moped or small motorcycle Plus the crash helmet law we have

@@barbaraneville5036 Now imagine the most bikes using disc brakes in this day's, they are capable to stop from 25 mph. I will not even mention hydraulic brakes, what i use for my other two builds. Helmet is a good thing, i am not against them. Aswell if you plan to do more than 25mph afcourse wear some thick clothes and more protective gear is recommended if you appreciate your health. Let we say that a gravel bike non electric can go easy to 25 mph, and dudes use cycle helmet and very tiny shorts and shirt! That's not mean i support any teenager to ride like crazy everywhere and put other in risks. I ride 750w 02b unlock to 1.4kw for last 3 year's,. Never have issue with the law maybe because i not attract any attention with my riding.
