    The soap bar looks amazing. Wanted to know 2 things- why did you add mica powder? And do you add Shea butter ? If yes then what is ratio for soap base : Shea butter for per 100 gms.

    • @DeanWilson
      @DeanWilson  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The mica is a shimmer which adds that little bit of shine to the bars. It's not needed, but it's fun to add. Regarding Shea butter, I do not add any extra oils or butter to melt and pour as melt and pour has already gone through the saponification process. Any extra butters will just remain as it is and that part will not turn into soap.

      I am handmade in hackney Hi at the moment I am only working with Melt and Pour as I have a retail shop and it requires fast turn around. If I was making for wholesale or markets and didnt have a shop then I would try CP but the cure time for CP is 6+ weeks and my customers can't wait that long. Maybe in the future.

    I absolutely love your videos, they inspire me to make my own soaps. I just had a quick question; did you add the shooting star glitter to all the layers or just the bottom layer? Also, would the glitter be an irritant when you use the soap or would it be okay as they are very small particles?

    • @DeanWilson
      @DeanWilson  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The glitter is Super Fine specially made for soaps. Most soap suppliers have them and their is lots of colors too.
      You can add it to all layers or just the top, it's up to you. It must be SKIN safe glitter.

    • @DeanWilson

    Hi Dean! I have a few questions!
    1--Do you only spray the rubbing alcohol on melt & pour soaps? I have not seen anyone doing the cold or the hot soap using it, so I was wondering if this was only used on the M & P soaps?
    2--I live near Tampa, Florida and it gets extremely hot here. I want to try sending some homemade M & P soaps to friends that live near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They get snow and freezing temps. How do you ship your soaps when they are going to areas of extreme heat or extreme cold?
    Thanks so much! Suzie

    • @DeanWilson
      @DeanWilson  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Suzie Phillips Hi, I have not seen anyone else use RA with Cold Process soap before. So I assume it's only for M&P soap bases.
      Sending soaps, I always bubble wrap them really well, a couple of layers of bubble wrap - at least.

    Thanks Dean. ❤️💐

    • @DeanWilson
      @DeanWilson  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I use a crockpot with hot water. Then I put my soap in a pouring pot and place inside the crockpot. The hot water heats the pouring pot and melts the base inside. When I need to remelt, I put the pouring pot back into the hot water and it remelts the base quickly. Water heat is about 190f degree.

      My oils are Fragrance oils, mostly from candle suppliers but they are also safe for skin (some anyway).
