Great job. Particularly like that you walked through the fix for the factory design/fab defects on the side plates and wiring module. Git to be frustrating to spend that kind of money only to discover a problem with a cross over piece!
6:15 Can this system that you replaced be used for navigation? I'm generally interested in any information about it and the vehicle overall. My father recently bought(Sprinter 314 CDI), and we're still figuring out how everything works. Thanks
Does that actually work to select the back up camera manually if your hooked to the reverse light? I would love to see that in action....my camera doesn't allow me to view unless I'm in reverse...sigh.
I'm having the identical problem. Crutchfield is about to send me a new wiring harness. Could you please share the video / forum link that walks though how to do this in more detail. I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
Can you recall what the link to the Sprinter forum where you found the solution to re-seating those two circuits? I've got the exact same problem, and I've looked all over for it. Thanks.
I have a very similar radio that stock I believe. I don't know what version it is but terrible reception. I can't get any AM. And FM is very spotty can't even get my favorite country radio station to come in full time. I think I'm going to try to pull the radio out check out to see how or if the antenna is hooked up properly. I'm going to check out the rest of the video to see how to do it
navigation that does not use cell towers is preferable. using your cell phone for navigation encourages tracking and other invasive practices. you can update Garmin, Tom Tom or any other nav system easily with a laptop.
How did you hook up the reverse wire on the head unit (purple and white wire) for the backup camera? I have the exact same head unit and backup camera. Thanks
Can you explain more in detail about the pink and purple wire switch I’m having the same problem CANT get my radio to come on after I tested it on the car battery and it worked fine
@@FATMAC_365 That was a long time ago. but I believe I hooked al the wired up. even if the wires were for things I didn't have like steering controls or nav or whatever. it all needs to be wired.
@@crojack15 that’s what I did off too I hooked every single wire up and no power at all I been hooking up radios since 18 I’m 42 now and I never had this problem but thanks anyway
If you check out crutchfield.com. You can enter your vehicle year and model and it will list available adapter for steering controls. Im sure they have something. I don't have steering controls.
Did you buy your backup camera from crutchfield along with the radio ? Do you like the pioneer now after using it for awhile ? Also does crutchfield know about the extra wiring you did to get the radio to turn on ? I have a 13 Sprinter and will probably buy this radio and install it . Thanks for the video !
Richard Slosar I bought the radio from Crutchfield the back up camera I bought from Amazon. Crutchfield had no idea about the fix. they sent me two harnesses thinking it was a problem with the harness. I was going crazy for a couple of days untill i came across an article online. The radio is great but I think it's been discontinued it actually has way more features than I actually needed so maybe the model below would've been a better choice. A bigger screen would be better also. The back up camera quality is mediocre. I believe you can find a better quality one.
How did Mercedes ever get away with such a cheap crappy stereo in the first place..its unbelievable cheap n nasty with terrible sound...mines a 2007 model

You can manually select the backup camera to be on while moving forward or in park. I dont have steering wheel controls.

Can you turn down the illumination for night driving?

Hi- what is the model of that bypass on Amazon? Thx
Are the steering wheel controls still working with this stereo?

Yes there is a reverse wire coming from the factory harness that connects to the new radio and tells it when you are in reverse.
Does your hands free still work through the new head unit and does the steering wheel control allow you you to answer a call etc
Hello, thanks about MB printer Radio video. Please use the light the next time you make a tutorial video for others to watch.

Margaret Withee unfortunately it's been a while and I don't remember. It should address that in the instructions. Good luck.
Did you figure this out Margaret? I'm at the same step. Thanks!
Are you converting your van into a camper? If so looking forward to the ongoing build.
Unfortunately i cant do a full camper because i have a big family.
So you switch the purple and pink? I'm having the same problem right now. I don't have rear view camera and don't need it. I am using a Pioneer.
crojack15 hi, any luck?
I did, thanks. Just had to hook up everything in the harness, even if I don't have steering controls or NAV. works though!

Are you able to use your steering wheel controls with the radio? Can the back-up camera be active full time?
John Flora did you get a reply to that question regarding the steering controls?
Jonathan Raymen, I never got a response.
