I think brass is not possible yet. I have seen professional printers doing aluminium and steel. But these work on another technology than 3D printers for home use and they are very expensive.
But you can get filaments with wood in it that make the parts really look like wood and you can get filaments that imitate any metal look really well.

It doesn't matter the pieces weren't made by hand; there was a creative mind that created the design and understood the pieces in order to assemble the whole thing. There is artistic intent, there is skill involved, it has an emotional response from me (surprise and the idea of mechanical beauty), so yes, it is a piece of art

Clickspring would be proud. An exceptionally well designed piece.
That this level of precision & functionality can be made on a home 3D Printer is mind blowing.
I'm really surprised that something like a Spring - that's capable of reliably storing tremendous energy without breaking - can be 3D Printed using a polymer. I'd expect it to stretch & buckle under the strain, forming cracks after just a few wind-ups. The material which it's made of must have some pretty unique properties.
It really makes me wonder what kinds of novel clockwork driven Automata can be produced. The number of seriously complex mechanisms that can currently be designed & 3D Printed, is utterly mind boggling.

That’s really cool. Love watching it but I’d be more interested in making one if it could run 10-12 hours.

Chaos is seen by those who don't understand complexity. In fact, order is more present in complexity.

That's amazing! It's a shame though that even with a steel spring, it'll only last an hour or so. Is there an easy way to hook up a motor to wind it up on a set interval? Maybe have it powered by a small solar panel or something.

I think I may have just discovered my new inspiration for a tabletop RPG Campaign hook.

Great and interresting design. Only thing missing for med is a away to manualle override it so it can get approx the correct time when starting it. I do know its not a time piece bit a mechanical modell. But it would annoy me to be of many hours😂🤘

Has anyone modified this or one of the other 3d printed timepieces to include an electric motor to wind the spring? I'm thinking like a pre-quartz era electro-mechanical auto clock. spring unwinds, points close, motor kicks in and rewinds the spring. I'm fascinated by these videos. That seems like the next evolution for these.
