Carbon tax is a price we pay for this clowns reckless spending
80% of the taxpayers get more money back compared to what they put in. But the tax scares them to lower their gas emissions. The loss from wildfires is horrendous. Less carbon emissions means less worse fires. The damage from the wildfire costs less than the tax. So, it is worth it.

You pay more in carbon taxes than in rebates. That is a fact based on the parliamentary budget. Also, trudeau has NOT brought down carbon emissions.
If you buy more fuel you will pay more. This is a measure designed to encourage you to conserve. What do you drive? Something huge and gas guzzling, I suspect. And you sit, idling, in parking lots and fast food drive -throughs. That is why carbon emissions are high. It's because of you!

We are a large and cold country. The carbon tax increases the cost of everything from gas to heating to food. It is highly inflationary. It has not reduced emissions one bit. What it has done is make things less affordable for all Canadians. If the rebate was truly more than the tax, why are we not feeling better off? Time to GO Trudeau.
Perhaps it has to do with the fact that you're not conserving where you can. It does take some effort on our part. But I'd like to see an extreme profit tax on Big Oil. With the billions that would be in the coffers we could then get a rebate large enough to buy every Canadian home a heat pump. So, no more reliance on fossil fuels and you'd not have to pay for heating or cooling ever again.

In reality the Carbon Tax is a PUNITIVE tax on the working population. Instead of a tax why not invest in carbon alternatives? The Carbon Tax goes in to the general federal revenue and is spent on whatever they want to spend it on.

While Trudeau and PP are fighting over gas tax, can they explain why we ship oil to the states to get refined then buy it back? You'd think we would've made our own refinery by now. Also, how do Canadians benefit from being in OPEC?
Canada is not part of OPEC
It takes many years to get approval for big projects and at this point they would say no.
PP has brought this up many times. He wants to cut out the dirty oil and produce it ourselves. Its would make Canada a little less clean, but it would make the world a lot cleaner. After all, we all share the same atmosphere

Placing a gas tax on individuals is short-sighted. We have no choice to drive gasoline cars. If we could go electric, we would but they are not affordable and there's no charging infrastructure. Maybe build up the infrastructure and get out of the auto-pact so we can make cars Canadians can afford. Maybe gouge industry as much as you gouge individual citizens.

So this begs the Question. If Cancelling the carbon tax would cause fires to be worse how come the carbon tax hasnt stopped them from happening?
Why use resources to collect money to give back money? it's like taking from the poor to give to the poor.
Hete is a questionwe should ask. How much does it cost to collect the taxes? How much does it cost to send the rebates? How does it cost to hire more government workers in order to operate this new tax collection scheme? Whatever the number of those extra costs involved in collecting a new tax will be, it will be paid for by Canadian taxpayers. Thus, the cost will be much more than the cost of just the carbon tax. Taxes in general will have to be raised in order to pay for the operation of carbon tax collecting.

An adjustment to the GST credit could help make up for what low income Canadians loose from the climate baloney rebate. Conservatives are not opposed to returning taxes to Canadians.
