- Spoiler removal/replacement. Recorded this since I have not seen anyone posted about it for the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback. I did not however include the installation instructions for the wing portion.
Everything comes with a template there are hole marks on the inside portion of the hatch since it is from the same assembly line that handled the Type R body I guess.
Wing was already installed prior to making this video.

Roiberd Robert so fucking hard to find one too. I’ve traveled out of my area and still nothing. And when you do find one There sold like 5-6k over msrp. I’ve been in the market to find get a new car and bruh I’m getting so impatient waiting for a type r I’m about to do this and save like 12k

@@Senorgrav Valley Honda in Aurora, IL sells at MSRP and has a waiting list. I am due for delivery at Zimmerman in Moline, IL February. I put $500 down and been on a list since October. Cars.com mobile App is a good way to find them in stock.
Its more like when u dont wanna pay 10k-15k for dealer mark up...i seltted for a 2018 si bcuz dealers r azzholes.

Stefan Stoica yes I did. Actually the fins and vortex generators come free with the purchase of the wing. It's around $329 then depending on shipping can reach $400+ but the route I went was buy it from someone who ordered two.

LONG. (TL;DR in the end)
For the paint, I told them I have these parts with me and if they could paint it. They told me to bring everything first so the body shop team and the manager can look at it. I brought it there, told them where I got it from, mentioned what kind of material it is and asked if they would do it. The manager happily responded yes that theyll do it. Asked what color I wanted and told him to match everything with the car, except for largest portion by the windshield. Then I got a call when it was done, expecting a receipt of some sort but nothing. They handed it to me. He said they wont install it because they didnt want to mess up. He started helping me take out the top spoiler though but at first, we didnt know that there were tabs, so he put the bolts back on and that is why I recorded the video since I have not seen any uploaded. As for the wheels, the car was show floor car for a couple of hours so it had those installed already. It was the only rally red available and they called me as soon as it arrived. I was like, I would like the old rims and wheels back since cars being sold always have wheels on already installed. Why would I pay more for a car when they replaced it themselves. (That time I wanted to put on the one with the red ring on it) I asked them to install that kind instead. They said the oem it came with is already with with the company that installed the new set. They also told me that they do not have the red ring set available. After a couple minutes, they removed the price for the rims and wheels installed and proceeded with everything else. No other offers were pushed to me, but they did let me know what was available. Then I signed and drove off with this car.
TL;DR
Got parts. Brought to dealer. Inspected. Painted. Recorded. Installed.
Showfloor car. Different wheels. OEM gone. Red ring now available. Price taken out. Signed. Drove off.

Arnie Posadas I'm actually gonna get that Type R wing, Type R body, and Type R hood. But only 1 thing I really need to do after get those items is re-paint them to Sonic Gray Pearl to match my car.

What about those 4 black clips that are on the old spoiler? Do you have to re-use them? Or just the 1 screw on each fin?
I did not reuse them for the model I got. Depending on which version you get, you can simply slide off the clips from the previous part and transfer it over.

Justin M. I actually didn't have to go through that since a forum member bought 2 from them to save on shipping and I bought it directly once it arrived. He did say he contacted them through Facebook. They have an Instagram page too.

hey man nice setup, what wheels are those, scuffed my oem sport touring rims and its an eye sore. oem is $600 per wheel. not gonna get those. also ive noticed you lowered your civic how is the ride and what springs or coil overs you used.

I’m on D2 Racing springs lowered 2” all around. Ride quality is ok. A lot better with 18” rims on my friends car.
I don't like the fact that those hinge covers don't tap into the preexisting holes.
Man, sorry to bother you. Thanks for your time replying to everyone comments. I purchased a wing for my hatchback off eBay and got installed a month ago. It holds up pretty strong but the only problem I am having is it shakes on a highway speed if there is a car in front of me. Since you know more about the mechanical part, do you know if there is any solution? Someone suggested me a vortex generator but I don't see how that would work.
I've been hearing a lot of shakes on the eBay version vs the Showcase sticker one. Shakes were more noticeable with the wing and the roof spoiler combo. After replacing the roof spoiler with the vortex generators and fins, it doesn't really shake much unless the road isn't too good. Whenever the car got some dirt or if it is wet, you can actually see the flow of dirt or water after driving and it looks cool. As for the middle portion of the wing, it is a lot noticeable if you really pay attention to it. Look at it this way, the car is moving at fast speed with changing terrain and your car adjusts to it with your springs or coils. Since that part is solid it will follow how your car moves up and down so it is more visible to you as the driver.
Also try these:
Check your bolts, they can loosen overtime.
You can add something to cushion the base.
My nuts and bolts are actually upside down.
Also look at the design itself, technically it is supposed to wobble/shake since it does not have a support in the middle.
Thank you for making me understand it better. I understand that there is a shallow in the middle part of a wing and that is the only part that vibrates on the highway speed. I basically drive on a highway every day and I always have my eyes on the wing lol. Strangely, I tried many times going over 85 mph and it won't shake if it isn't too windy or if there isn't any car ahead of me. I am thinking of putting vortex generator to see if it might reduce the shaking little bit.
No worries. Yes, because when you don't have anyone in front of you, you are basically going through the hole and consuming all the air creating drag. (Adds grip to your tires)
As for when you are following someone in front of you, they are basically in front of you doing all that work. So there wont be much for you to go through that gives you that drag, since there isn't much wind hitting the car/wings. That is why it is more noticeable the closer you get. Just got out of work and hopefully this was a little more helpful. Thanks.

Trigo Domingo Yes I am. They refused to or cant? When you open the hatch, you'll see 2 visible hole areas on both sides close to the hydraulic struts. 3 different drill bit sizes recommended to have control.

Hello, I got my wing from showcase sticker Thailand. I know Abs Dynamics are selling them as well now.
I got mine painted at the dealership I got my car from. They were very supportive of it. As far as warranty, I still get my services done at the dealership I got the car from.
You can check with your dealership what they think about it. I have done a couple more things with my car since my last post and it’s still A ok.

Double-sided tape is all it takes to hold them on there? They dont fly off or loosen over time outdoors?
Yeap, been power washing it and tug on it once in a while and it’s still on securely. As for the parts side parts, they were bolted as seen on this video.
Did you get aftermarket trunk lift supports? (I hear the type r spoiler makes the door alot heavier) @@ArniePosadas
@@ct0760 I did not get an aftermarket trunk lift support. It does make it a lot heavier and it would take some assistance to lift itself all the way up.

hey Arnie. i noticed you have the Type R wing. i recently ordered mine off ebay but do i need to drill into the hatch. or do just need some glue or what?
Even if you go the glue route, it is not recommended. The size alone can't handle wind resistance, thus it comes with bolts and instructions. It comes with a template too so you just need to align it. Inside the hatch, you'll see 2 hole marks on each side that could also help with alignment.

My dealer wants 46k for a type r - I got my 19 sport hatch for around 23k i believe..... that leaves 23k for nodding if you really want to compare apples and oranges - the demand for type r is just to high for the normal guy to get one just yet

When installing the wing do you have to drill holes into the car on ur own? And also when you bought the parts did they come colored? If not, where did you get them painted because I have sonic grey color. And what was the price for the getting it colored?
Caesar Garcia yes, 4 holes on total. They come unpainted, got them painted at my dealership for free.

Caesar Garcia the parts all came with templates, I had to use 3 different sizes small, medium, large per se. I am not sure because each delearship are different. To be honest, I probably won't have a video for that anytime soon if ever. I've been looking for the template and I think my friend disposed it. I was going to make a mock installation on another hatchback but without the proper template, it wouldn't look as accurate.

Arnie Posadas no way!! Did you do the talking really well or are your local dealer just really nice because i’m looking to paint those to match my car but couldn’t find one and i heard that the dealer would paint it but kinda pricey...
Danh Ly I talked to the body shop from my dealer that I was planning to get a spoiler. I was told it was cool but to double check with the manager. Once the parts arrived, I brought it over to them so they could inspect it. I was asked what color I wanted and said to match it completely with my car and emailed them some pictures to verify which parts are what color. He said they’ll do what they can. I kinda asked how much but they didn’t really say anything or didn’t hear me. After a couple days, I got a call that it was ready all the pieces tops and bottom. They helped me load it in my car and was even helping to start installing it but shop was closing so I told them it’s fine and I’ll install it myself. They didn’t charge me anything and they were pumped when they saw it when I came back installed.

Danh Ly Yeap I bought it online and brought it to them. I was literally just there few minutes ago for maintenance. The manager checked on it again and jokingly said want to tint your front windshield? (We can’t do tint in front though) I don’t want to get in trouble as well if I tinted the front windshield plus visibility will be reduced.
He said he liked the overall clean look. (No badges on the back, no front license plates, added window visors, added smoked switchback side markers, tinted fog lights yellow)
