Hi! Thanks for your question! It might be difficult for you to score high on the MCAT without taking any chemistry, biochem or physics courses. The MCAT threshold at UBC is pretty high, so make sure to prepare yourself for these disciplines. It might be a good idea to take these classes to prepare for the MCAT.
Thanks for the video! Do you know what the difference between UBC's MD undergrad education and the UBC medical school is? Is the MD undergrad a degree open for high school applicants whereas the Medical school requires post-secondary? Do both need mcat scores?
Glad the video helped you! UBC offers an MD program, known as the MD Undergraduate Program. This program requires post-secondary and the MCAT to apply. You can find the full admission requirements here: mdprogram.med.ubc.ca/admissions/before-you-apply/admission-requirements/
Amazing video man. New subscriber. Im really hoping to get into medical school and just graduated from a BSN program. I have heard nurses have a hard time getting in!
Hello M! Thanks so much for your comment! Having a BSN can greatly benefit your MD application! UBC does not give preference to any particular undergrad, but your knowledge in science and exposure to the medical field will certainly be advantages! You can learn more about getting into UBC in our blog bemoacademicconsulting.com/blog/ubc-medical-school
@@BeMoAcademicConsulting thank you for answering! I have two other questions if you don’t mind 😅 If I do my undergraduate in Canada, would it be easier for me to be accepted into an other med school? Not UBC because of their requirements. And, are there other good med schools that do accept foreigners?
@@qwerqueti8478 Hello Qwer! Thanks for following up! Yes, completing an undergrad in Canada might be helpful. Plus, while you are a student, you can probably try applying to the Permanent Residency status. But as an international student, you are eligible to apply to University of Toronto medical school, McGill medical school, Laval, Montreal, Sherbrooke, and Memorial University.
Hi, I’m a brazilian high schooler, I’m interested in UBC’s medicine course. If I get a permanent residence, can i start the medicine right away? I think I need credits, but i don’t know how to earn credits and what courses do i need to take before starting medicine. Can you help me out?
Hello Iuri! Thanks for your comment. Firstly, you will need to get some undergrad credits to be eligible to study medicine at UBC. It would be ideal if you could complete these courses in Canada. Once you complete the necessary course requirements and if you become a permanent resident, then you can apply to UBC medical school. If you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out to us for a strategy call.
Hello JDMusic! Thanks for your comment! Firstly, never give up. Secondly, depending on whether you are an in-province applicant, you may still have a chance. If you are an out-of-province applicant, are you still in school? If so, if you performed poorly in some of your courses, consider re-enrollment. This strategy will increase your GPA and demonstrate to the admissions committee your dedication to improvement. While you’re a student, make sure you take courses in disciplines you excel in. Ask your instructors and teaching assistants if you can do anything for extra credit. Study with a partner or find a tutor to help you with challenging courses. Go to see your TAs and instructors during their office hours to get help with completing your assignments. If you are no longer a student, strive to totally ace your MCAT! A perfect MCAT score can offset your lower GPA. You can also contact us here bemoacademicconsulting.com/Contact-Us.php to schedule your free initial consultation to see how we can help you get into UBC.
@@BeMoAcademicConsulting Thanks for the aide (you reply faster than UBC advisors LOL). Highly uncertain time for me....I come from a Music Major background so I am worried about not coming from science. I will take a look at that site thank you.
@@lonewolf604 There's really no problem with you being from a non-science background. UBC requires its MD applicants to complete 6 credits of English coursework - this is the only strict requirement. However, you must have some science background to do well on the MCAT. So if you have not completed any science courses, consider doing a post bacc program. These are typically designed to help students prepare for med school.
Hello Baller! Thanks for your question. UBC does not really have any strict course requirements excepts for the English language credits. This means that you can take any courses you enjoy and excel in. Good luck with your coursework!
I have not taken any chemistry, biochem or physics courses ,just biology would it be okay?

So I can’t apply if I’m from Mexico right?
Hello Qwer! Thanks for your question! Only Canadian citizens or permanent residents are eligible to apply to UBC med school.

Does UBC medical school look at high school grades at all?
Hi GameLaser! Thanks for your question. No, they do not!

Rip....If they count all my courses I'm about 79-80%, I heard they overlook your lowest year? If so, I may just be competitive enough.
