Adorama has made a slip before. If I was setting up the page with placeholder information, I just just put in the latin text everyone uses. I would not used leaked info - that is playing with fire.

30 meg sensor is going to be disappointing to some….especially photographers….
Why? Not everyone needs a 60 MP FF sensor or a 100 MP MF sensor.
the dr is probably going to be great which is good for photo and video. I only use my r5 for photoshoots everything else the r3

This is a flagship camera and is not focused on the general camera population. And yes DR is important for photos and video. However, pro photographers also want resolution….and a 30meg sensor is going to be disappointing when they were looking for something closer 50.

Other than better DR, much faster readout speeds, higher resolution, unreal flash sync - 1/1250th, crazy framerates, better AF, and the low light performance will be much better than the R3. The R3 can just go away now...

R5II will be R1 you wanted. 1-series always was lower res fast cameras for sport and action. So if you want something like A1 or Z9, R5II is the camera you are looking for.
@@pawel_stockiI don't understand why so many people can't wrap their heads around this simple fact! There is more to a camera than megapixels! The R1, like the 1dx and 1d series before it is for working professionals in the field! They aren't shooting landscapes. They aren't working in a studio. And they aren't shooting wildlife a half mile away and trying to blow it up to fill the frame! Do you think Canon doesn't know their pro customers? You can bet that they sent out multiple questionnaires to working pros the world over asking what they would like incorporated in a new pro camera, and you can bet that massive numbers of megapixels was low on the list.
If this really has a Dual Gain sensor at 30MP that is huge. To me that is much more impressive than 8k. The Dynamic Range will be absolutely insane. It will also be 6.7k which is still super sharp. In some ways the C70 image was on par if not better than the R5. It was softer at only 4k but it had 16+ stops of dynamic range. Imagine what can be done with a FF stacked sensor at 6.7k. This will truly be the Master of everything.
It's inaccurate. It was proven Adorama just pulled a rumored spec list off Canon Rumors from back in January. This guy also just ran with it without doing any of his own research. No credibility

If the 30 MP DGO Stacked is true I would be thrilled to own this camera. Decent resolution, DGO should give excellent low-light capability. The linear resolution between a 30 MP and 45 MP camera is not that huge.

@@AKStudio24kt I know it says that, but it also says aps-c. So if I had to guess - the only way both can be true is in 2 ways. 1. In burst mode or hfr mode there is 1.5x crop or 2. When shooting video there is a 1.5x crop then you'll have both full frame and aps-c. Otherwise I don't know why both are listed.
@@PeterGregg ohh a typo. That's what it's called? I thought they figured out a what to mechanically and physically hot swap the sensor when you want that extra reach or when shooting video. I was thinking modularity. Stupid me, next time I'll keep my questions to myself. I should be smarter than that. My apologies.
if you look at the video reveal that canon made for the r1 it definitely looks like a ff sensor, not an aps-c sensor
@@PDX_Avgeek I saw that. I just thought it was weird that Adorma had that in the specs. That's all. I know Canon is not going to put out a major flagship and have it be aps-c. I can understand, something like, super 35 for a cinema cam.
Adorama's mobile site says the R1's sensor size is APS-C! The mainframe site omits that spec. It's probably a mistake. But they need to get their sh*t together, if so. (I just double-checked two minutes ago BTW.) The one-second mention is the pre-shooting maximum, not the buffer at 240 fps.
UPDATE: Go to the "compare" tab in the Adorama desktop article. It will again show there that the R1 is APS-C!!

naw its a big update in every way. DGO, AI tracking, 1250 flash sync, 120-240 fps . no mechanical. I dont know what would you expect from a camera, holograms or something?
@@vlcthefish This is frankly what I expected. Have a DGO sensor in the flagship is a huge benefit to Canon. Will have to see its implementation. Does the DGO sensor provide dual gain output at 40 fps?

If the R1 is indeed a 30MP camera, then Canon did me favor and saved me a ton of money. In other words, I'll be keeping my R3 and R5 and not upgrading...lol!
I had to turn off the Adorma notifications because when I looked at the item they were either backordered, coming soon etc. I like to think about the product awhile before purchasing and when I get around to it then it isn't in stock. Finally when back in stock their is a better product and then I have to ponder over it. Never Ends! Cheers! BTW is the R5II and R1 in Your future?

If and I do say IF these are Really the actual Specs, nobody should complain about the specifications as long as the Camera does it all properly. 30MP is basically a SWEET Spot for MP. So those complaining about far more, well that's what the R5ii is for. Canon makes some of the best looking Pro Camera Bodies period. Most Sony FF Cameras look like a Boring Brick.

@@tonygerassi1502 Oh indeed. Once that’s released, all the better. But man. I was just on an assignment on Monday using my flash units outside and was so annoyed that I was stuck at 1/200. It was a volume event so i was trying to stay out of HSS to conserve battery to make sure I had enough for the full duration of the event. The sun eventually went down, but for the first hour of the event, it was super annoying. I would have loved the ability to go up to 1/1250.
So this sounds … unimpressive . Except maybe for the strobe sync speed.
and vs the A9III, which can sync to what flash speed ;-) FAIL from Canon.
I believe is just junk information put there as a place holder for when they are authorized to post the real specs. If you go to the side panel Key Features you see a list of feature and one of them is a Sensor Size: APS-C Camera and you see the same under the Compare tab.

My bet: placeholder. I recall this happening in the past -- though I can't recall what exact product / company -- someone putting in placeholders and then accidentally posting the info.
Sounds like a good specialty Pro Sports Camera like the Sony a9III. Not really , a Landscape, are a Wild Life, are Studio camera, Portrait are Wedding Camera. However, that definitely doesn't mean that you can't use it for these other genres that's for sure. There's just other cameras more well suited, for pretty much for all these genres. Like the Cannon's R5II, Nikon's Z8&Z9, Sony A7.& more at a better prices.

@@zeiss1382 I would almost always agree with you, but If duel gain is as good as people make them out to be it would have a lot more dynamic range and very low noise. Many times we need higher megapixels to make up for the high noise that typical sensors make, even at ISO 100. In theory it might have the perceived sharpness of a 45 megapixel camera, and the benefits of retaining much greater highlights and shadows even while cutting down noise from a sensor.
I would be on the same page with you if this was a normal backside illuminated sensor or stacked sensor. But if we were to compare these two types of sensors apples to apples we would have to talk about perceived sharpness.
If none of those specs appear in the R1, adorama could technically be sued by someone for false advertising

Especially since Sony smacked Canon with their A1 release, forcing Canon to rename their R1 to the R3...except Sony will just patiently wait for Canon to release the R1, and then a few months later release the A1 II and smack the Canon given them no opportunity to save face like they did with the R3 rebadged R1.

yup. 100% this. If these are indeed true, Canon is a laughing stock. 2 years overdue...and 4 years behind the A1. Hell, it can't even match the near 4 year old A1...Sony smacks Canon. BIG time. So does Nikon. Now all we need is for OM systems to release a 45mp full frame OM-1 variant.

That isnt something canon usually does and doesnt make sense to mention unless canon is trying to please people on the internet forums and comment sections.. In the real world most people that buy cameras don't look at DR charts. if they did rebels world never have sold....

Looks like Adorama's already pulled those specs down.
R1 is not the master of everything with these leaked specs. Effectively an improved version of the 1D Series DSLR with 30 megapixels and a 0.8 micro second sensor readout and a 1/1250 s flash sync speed. The increased dynamic range is a nice to have but not necessary for sports and run and gun events. I think that the improved autofocus tracking will be most appreciated by professionals.
I am eagerly awaiting the R5 MkII announcement. If the R5 MkII has the same dynamic range as the current R3 and an improved sensor read speed it will be higher resolution at 45 MP and tough to beat. I just hope it doesn’t compromise raw quality for fps and compression to handle the data movement demands. 20 fps with no compression in silent shutter mode is plenty at 45 MP and 14 bit depth.
I think that the lack of 8k video on the R1 is something that is disappointing. The fast sensor readout is probably the reason that Canon has not made the sensor large enough for 8k video capture.
For the past decade or so the 5D and R5 bodies have been Canon’s biggest selling wedding and event cameras. If the news and sports professionals are going to be satisfied with 30MP for their stills work and 4K video capture in high quality codecs and raw then the R1 will meet the needs of their flagship customers. However, I’m concerned about what happens with the Nikon Z9 and Sony Alpha 1 going forward. Canon being late to the market is really competing against the 2nd generation of these cameras which should be released in the next year. Given that it might be 6-7 months before us mere mortals can purchase an R1, I would think that Canon is still fighting an uphill fight in the mirrorless world. At this point in time I am willing to wait until the R5 MkII is announced. If it is a big step forward in regards to Rolling shutter performance I will probably pull the trigger on it. If not I will likely go for a new Sony body. I think that the Alpha 1 or its successor will meet my needs and I know that my existing Canon glass works well on it with my Metabones V adapter. I’m still happy with my 5D3 and 5D4 DSLR bodies and my trusty A7iii mirrorless. I was hoping for a Canon solution to a better electronic shutter but at 72 I am not going to wait very long when I have alternatives that are affordable and will meet my needs.
and will it compare to the AF performance on the A9III...the A9III spanks the rumoured R1 1/1250 flash sync speed too I might add.
@@davepastern , The A9 III global shutter is a big step forward for Sony but it comes at the expense of Noise and Dynamic Range performance. The raw files are apparently showing this problem for the A9 III when compared to other raw files from cameras like the R3. There is a trade off in this case. The global shutter appears to result in making a full frame sensor perform like the equivalent of the same megapixel APS-C size sensor. Is that a good trade off? I’m not sure about that at 24 MP. The faster readout stacked and back illuminated sensors may have better dynamic range and noise levels in lower light levels with a rolling shutter readout speed that is sufficient for most applications. I think this is an interesting technical trade off that impacts our creative process and choice. Do we need to stop motion distortion with the global shutters or is the fast rolling shutter readout speed good enough?
For me it might be the latter given the current state of technology. But I think that we would all appreciate a global shutter with the same dynamic range and noise level as the current rolling shutter sensors.
@@robertatwell7615 it's about a stop difference in noise and DR for the A93's global shutter. Considering the R3 is class leading in noise and on par with the A1 (Sony sensors have always been ahead with DR), it's not a huge hit. Especially with the current NR AI software at hand.
Yes, I agree with a fast BSI stacked sensor is probably the best balanced approach. I own a R3 and have never noticed any rolling shutter in 18 months of heavy usage (birding photography).
With that said, 2 years overdue and only 30mp for the R1 if the rumours are true - that is disappointing for a flagship. This is more of a R3 II than a R1. It will NOT be good PR for Canon.
But no global shutter.

it'll be barely better than the R3...it certainly won't be 8k as 30mp isn't enough resolution for 8k video. So, 6k. Maybe 240 frame at 6k, but I doubt it.

I have said it quite a few times on this channel - Canon is so far behind Sony in sensor tech that they cannot compete. Sony is just toying with them. Hell, the A1 and Z9 now beat the R3 in AF performance. So, Canon is behind in that as well...

Yep, saw that on the right hand frame, but the page clearly isn't finished being set up yet. Either way, I'm sure Canon won't be happy with it.
Well that is what they put as compare. The Canon site clearly shows a full frame sensor with the lens removed on their site. I'm guessing the Adorama site is matching by price, which is currently 0, because it has not been announced yet.

So, we have waited on this camera now for years? It is underwhelming, I am not impressed.
In all fairness, would love to just wait till all the info is on the Canon website. (Not thrilled with the 30 mpx, tbh. I’d rather have 60 with the option to select smaller options if i want. That would have been, for me, ‘the camera of all cameras’. Had hoped the R1 would finally pull me over to mirrorless. However, looking like the R1mk2 will be the attraction for me.)

It would be great if the Canon R1 is focused more on being a photography camera. The problem with all camera brands is that they're always trying to put everything in every one of their models, yes it's good to have some hybrid ones, but not every camera model needs to be a hybrid camera. Keep some focused on photography, some on video & have some hybrids you know...

i think its only a sports camera 120fps or 240fps are for what? are they gonna shoot bullets or scientific hyper fast movements on the other end 30 megapixels in 2024 is a joke. I hope they launch a R1 Ds at least with 75 megapixels and a synch flash speed of 1/1000 and 16 byte raw that would be a flagship camera for sure this one is a joke.

Hope Adorama made a mistake. If these specs are true, then it is good for me that I won't buy the R1. I will wait for the R5 II. R1 would be very expensive. I will save some money. 30 mp for a flagship is a letdown to me. I shoot birds and 30 mp is not good enough. It is like the R3 which I didn't buy. Could this be R3 II? How could 30 mp be master of everything. "Everything" in my mind includes bird photography.
If R5 II is another letdown, I will have to switch to another brand. I have been using the R5 since day one and I really like it. Make the R5 II with stacked sensor with at least 45 mp and better AF, then I am in.
I think R3 II will be announced very soon. The Adorama leaked specs look more like a R3 upgrade. 8k requires 33 mp. Are we saying R1 has no 8k? R3 II is direct response to Sony A9III.
I will just stick with my R5's. 30mp is not worth the 15k AUD they will want for it. It will follow suit with everything they have made over the last few years. Overpriced and unobtainable for most of the people they are made for.
The R5 is a general purpose camera that is more than enough for most of us.
@@OrdinaryFilmmaker my first one series camera was a 1vhs. Only shot with 1 series cameras until the 1dx2. Now have 2 R5s. I shoot women’s football and the 45mp really helps when cropping. They don’t drive my 600 f4 300 f2.8 hard but the 200-400 f4 is pretty good. The 100-500 is perfect but unusable under lights

Maybe you should try and actually so some work and research the specs. The Adorama spec list is an EXACT COPY and PASTE from Canon Rumors from a rumored spec list from back in JANUARY! Just completely tanks this channels credibility. How many other times have you done this?

Also Canon didn't want the info out. They certainly aren't "leaking" it to single US retailer creating a risk of a leak.

As the flagship camera I hope that they show some things that other manufacturers haven’t seen. As a Sony shooter I am very happy with my A9iii, but my canon friends have been longing for a flagship camera from Canon for 3+ years. Hopefully it will come out soon so my Canon friends can try it out
