Stop worshipping a false "pastor" who hid his sin for years. He is not honorable. He admitted his secretive sin when he feared being exposed. Evans has $15 million and wants to keep his job to remain a millionaire, preaching about a homeless man named Jesus.

The statement he gave when he stepped down was sufficient for the "world/Internet/outsiders", however, he owes his (previous) flock a deeper explanation.
My church just went through this. The session brought forth the charges against the head pastor in a congregational meeting. The head pastor resigned and still had to answer the to the Presbytery. Currently he is being treated as a unbeliever until he repents.

Concerning Tony Evans, it's not "what sin was committed" that's the issue for me it's the "why publicly repent now after so many years?" The timing is OFF. Also, WHO caused him to repent?
I ask, because let's be serious, the WHO makes a difference. If he says he was convicted by the Holy Spirit, most would say "praise God, He's a man of God." BUT if he says he was confronted about it, you know good and well that might be a problem. Most would think "his judgment is off"..."is he qualified to pastor if he isn't convicted about sin in his life?"...etc.
Also, while I don't care to know the sin, I've had my pastor exercise church discipline and the elders told us what the sin was and they made sure to tell the congregation that they exposed the sin to cut down on gossip. Guess what? It did just that and we loved the man of God and prayed for his healing! Simple.
It seems to me, pastors and congregants don't understand that the office of pastor/teacher/elder/overseer is one with strict criteria and an office where all eyes are on you. YES people are going to hold you to a higher standard. It's human nature. James said in James 3:1, "Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly." Paul said to Timothy in 1 Timothy 3:1, "Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task." You will be held to a higher standard because of the weightiness of the title of "pastor/teacher/elder/overseer." My question to pastors is are you prepared for that?? Pastors shouldn't put on a show for people, but hey, God's standards are good, but they are high.....everyone is not built for that.

    • @tic8259
      @tic8259 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +14

One more thing, many youtubers (especially the ones who are pastors themselves) are rebuking commenters for "being judgmental" but no one is talking about how as a pastor:
      (1) it's a noble position/job title (1 Tim 3:1),
      (2) pastors will be judged more harshly (James 3:1), AND
      (3) most current pastors are being PAID to pastor....so yea it's in a pastor's job description as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 to be a man of good character. A pastor who sins on the job IS NOT the same as a Christian who sinned while working a non-pastoral job really.
Yes, pastors deserve grace and restoration but its not some horrible thing that people hold pastors in high regard and have high expectations of them. It comes with the title!

    • @aliciamcdonald7105
      @aliciamcdonald7105 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +9

Our Lord Jesus said "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more" Luke 12:48. That is just how things are and you are also right with respect to the timing. Why did it took YEARS for him to receive this kind of conviction for 'sin' committed back then? Off indeed the timing is.

It is stated in the Bible that our God is a jealous God. And he won’t let anyone receive too much praise outside of Himself. The more a person is honored and looked up to, the more likely that person will be shown to be imperfect, either directly by their own hand, deceitfulness from the devil, or by the hand of God, himself. God does not want us to put people on pedestals because this will be the gateway the devil will use to mislead the multitudes. If we put a person on a pedestal, God will allow that person’s imperfection to be seen. This event serves as a warning to ALL of us. We must be forgiving and understanding, while at the same time refrain ourselves from idle worship.

Dr. Evans has served and taught for 38 years. Lets pray for him and extend the grace that we would want extended to us.

      Let’s talk…
      1 Timothy 2:12
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
How does that square with Debra and Barak and Aquila/Pricilla and Apollos. Which Paul did not condemn.
Then there’s the “But I…” in 1 Timothy 2:12 that seems to imply that this is from Paul and not God.
There appears to be more that needs to be revealed on the matter. But does it really matter!?
Quite frankly since my life depends on it, I don’t care what gender teaches me to live the Truth of the Word.

I love your comment at the 10 minute mark. Reformers tend to do that. Which as a reformed person it’s ironic, because we accuse listeners of prosperity gospel preachers of that. Turning a blind eye when their pastor does something. My thing is, we’re quick to judge Tony Evans but overlook the fact that John MacArthur has a standard that elders are not fit to be in leadership position if their children are in sin. He sat an associate pastor down because his daughter got pregnant out of wedlock and called that man a disgrace. And yet Johnny Mac’s son bamboozled people for millions of dollars and got busted for it… nobody bats an eye. According to MacArthur’s standards, he’s not fit to be in pastoral ministry. Don’t get me wrong I love Johnny Mac and he’s a faithful Bible teacher, but let’s keep that same energy all across the board. And those people won’t acknowledge that Tony Evans took the necessary biblical steps to step down from ministry.

No way he sat a pastor for their child’s sin??? I’ve never heard of that before! I’m only aware of the lady which her husband’s abuse was indeed a fact. Now this one, that goes to show that he thinks too highly of himself which is concerning. Just like you said he should hold himself to his own standard of discipline. I mean of course if he claims that the pastor was approving of their daughter’s sexual immoral lifestyle.

IMO, I believe reformers will use this isolated situation to DISCREDIT , and “disqualify” tony evans entire ministry. It’s like “yep we got ‘em, he’s not so “perfect after all”. Whole time they have unloving , unforgiving, merciless hearts. A lot of their hearts motivation is wrong. It’s not love and wanting to help someone who has stumbled, but rather let’s go around fault finding! It’s being shown right now , and how their camp is wanting to talk about him like a dog.
They are so critical. Nothing wrong with us thinking biblically (obviously) and using critical thinking. But we must be careful, because it can lead you to looking at others, not even recognizing you have a gang load of hidden sin in your heart (pride self righteousness, arrogance).
I think reformers have a great deal of self righteousness. The problem is they either are unable to see their own problem (sin). Or they know, and try to hide it behind “being faithful” to the word. Their understanding of the Bible also doesn’t leave any room for God to move in a way that doesn’t fit their box. But it will be hidden behind “we’re holding to the text”. No your a legalist. The Pharisees knew the Bible back and forth, yet they missed its true meaning and they missed Christ every time….
These people tend to be very joyless as well, thinking the more stoic they are, the more serious they are about Christ. They can’t stand the happiness of other believers. They can’t rejoice with others. This comes from God? No. But what I find with them as well, is they have tons of hypocrisy. It’s okay for them to post and say and do things, but if they don’t “qualify “ you, you can’t do what they do.

God told us exactly what He deems we need to know concerning salvation. As Matthew 7 says, "Judge not, that ye be not judged." In this season of judgment, let us stop being concerned about what he did and keep our souls clean before God. Remember, our sovereign God is watching all of our imperfect behavior. This is reflected in John 8:7 when they kept asking him, he lifted himself up and said unto them, "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." The only thing we are to do is pray for our brother in Christ.

Evans is a PUBLIC LEADER, The People have the right to know this sin. We should not have picking and choosing as to who we are going to question or talk about. None of us know ANYTHING about what these people are doing or have done. So, if Evans don't want lies spread, he should tell ALL the truth. Maybe he doesn't have to tell....then maybe that's the reason he hasn't said anything about what EVERYONE is saying concerning this SIN he's committed. Either way, it sounds like he's trying to get AHEAD of something.

We all have sin but as a pastor it depends on the sin we have the 10 commandments as our guide.

So how long ago? We all have sinned once upon a time. so that mean we all need to step back. As long as he's has repented and not continuing in his wrong doing God is forgiving. Tony Evans is a good man.

There are no sinless Christians. Everyone one makes mistakes. Some of these people forget that they have sin within them. I totally 💯 agree with you on this matter with Tony Evans.

Those of you who are constantly judging these people, I would love to follow you around for a week and see how your walk with God is. No one is perfect or without sin. Judge yourself before judging someone else, you are flawed just like them.

It doesn’t matter he is addressing it by stepping down. God’s Love covers a multitude of sin so wasting time trying to figure his speck when I am working on chipping away at my log in my own eye no it is a 24 hour job. We are a part of one body so if there is an injury or unhealthy part of my body the other parts will care so care and come to the aide of the injured body part so they should very much care.

It’s letting God give a witness to those envolved in leadership, if reformation has been done by the Lord & victim been cleanse & set free. It’s another humbling situation.

Romans 2:12-16 addresses the issue of whether a person who has no information can be saved, and says something approximating what Tony Evans said. So shall we condemn Paul? Christians are frequently condemned by other Christians for quoting the Bible.

Brother Corey I have a question: if a pastor tells his congregation that the bible says we can speak things into existence is that reason to leave that church? Also is that something you believe to be true?

We need to pray for the leader of the churches around the world specifically our country. The leaders are human too and as the body of Christ,we need to pray for our pastor as well. We are all sinner and fall short glory of God.

Also, I was wondering if you look at 2 Samuel 12:23 David declares he will go to his son that died, and David went to Heaven. This is what I believe lets us know that babies and people who cannot mentally understand scripture go to Heaven when they die. What do you think?
