We've had a Yeti since they were released in Australia. It's prob not saying much, but it is the best built car we've owned, and it's stayed together better than a lot of other Euros around of similar or younger vintage. I know it's just a Tiguan with a different 'cab'. But it's great. Unique. A face only its mother could love. Can't wait to see how this build goes. Keep the vids coming.
Same mate. I have a 2012 TDI 4x4. Skoda Australia marketed it as 103kW, but when I did a VIN search, mine has the 125kW tune from factory. Same power and torque as the Audi Q3. I don't think many Yeti owners know this, i've always said it has more power and torque since I bought it new. It now has 160k km and I love it to bits. I'm on my second Amarok now - and in comparison the Yeti is the best car i've owned. Solid AF, economical to run and does everything it is built to do. Very underrated small-mid SUV.

The 103 turbo is a tiny kkk compared to the Garrett the 125 has, I went from a 125kw mkV GT TDI to the 2014 103 Yeti, and it was obviously slower, even tuned, ( I used to sell tunes ). I've maxed out my 103 turbo now with every mod known to man, and have the Yeti down to just over 5 seconds to 100, and have a nice Q5 turbo to bolt on soon, but sorry to rain on your parade, the true 125 is different in a number of ways, even has a forged crank! I WISH I had the 125 as a base engine......

I worked as an archaeologist across the Murray Darling Basin, usually hiring vehicle I needed - land cruisers, twin cabs, utes etc. yeti is the best vehicle I’ve driven for gravel and dirt roads, tracks, fire trails. Sticks to road, secure feel great control. Never needed to carry big load, so fit for my purpose. Just wish I could find a replacement now the yeti is ten years old.
Interesting idea and probably a case of what could have been if VW had done a special edition of the yeti. I'd ditch the spacers though and just get a wheel with the right offset that fits. Bearings won't know any different but you'll eliminate an unnecessary set of bolted joints and an interface that could be a source of embedment.
I've had Yeti, but I had to sell it after a year for unconnected reasons, and this car is the best thing I've had. But the road clearance is the only thing that could be better and that doesn't allow for "serious" offroading. So the answer for that should be both bigger tires AND spacers. At least, this is what I was going to do. Also (this won't be useful for anyone except the ones who wants to do that): if you're doing a serious lift, rear struts could be a problem, but there's an easy solution - Tiguan's struts are couple cm's longer, so you'll be more flexible with the spacers. Or use some custom ones, but this is a different price range usually, and I was going to do a cheap little change that would make me scratch my belly less on the forest roads.
I purchased a 2013 4x4 140bhp diesel , I have to say it’s one of the most reliable and easy to drive cars I’ve owned throughout the years the gearbox just flows into gear ( manual) plenty of grunt and good on fuel even though I’m heavy footed , i can well believe it will do 50 miles to the gallon but it doesn’t with me behind the wheel more like 40-45 which is plenty , highly recommended as a commute vehicle plus lay the seats and it’s my work van …. great little motors ( diesel only not Petrol in my opinion ) 👍😎
Always thought these had the right sort of potential as a "light" overland rig, obviously its not rock crawling in Moab, but car camping off the beaten track why not? Will watch the developments with interest.
It just GOES, as long as you have some clearance left. Some of my trips became more boring, because that wasn't a challenge anymore, I was even driving on cruise in some places I would consider "bad" before
About time we had some weird Yeti diesel madness. Interesting to see what I thought, the earlier Yeti had the alloy front subframe, the FL went to a crappy steel one. I'd suggest GTI front callipers and rotors boys, especially with those tyres, stock brakes are poor.
Gonna need to recalibrate the speedo so cos you'll be going faster than it says due to the larger wheel circumference. Assuming u wanna drive it on the road without getting flashed by speed camera for unknowingly speeding

I was half way there doing something very similar to my 2011 Octavia. Had it on a heavy duty suspension, had a lightbar in the front and had a Overzone roof tent on it. Took it offroading a bunch of times and it was a lot of fun. Only thing missing was those meaty tires
Hallo guys! I have a 2008 Tiguan TDI. I lifted it with some Eibach +3cm and it ofroads great! Just the ride isn't perfect. A lot of small vibrations like the road surface is uneven. I saw that you've applied extensions to the dampers. I believe my ride issue is due to over extended dampers (shock absorbers) would the extensions solve it and do you sell those? Cheers! (I wish you guys had a workshop in continental Europe. I would build my Tiguan in your shop!!!! )
@@DarksideDevelopments they start around 5k € and the good ones are 10k to 15k € here. And that's pretty hefty in my opinion for a used car with 100k+ kilometers on it which is really not one of my dream cars. Been looking at signing a lease or financing a new car. The Seat Ibiza FR looks sweet: 1.5 TSI with 150hp, 7 Speed DSG and all the goodies of a new car for ~28k €.
Nice upgrade on the yeti. Looks way better on them tyres and bit of a lifted. Should have come from the factory looking like this. Not sure if the engine is powerful enough to pull one of the other VW out of trouble. Off roading and well done on the video
I once watched a Suzuki SJ410 pull a Nissan Safari out of strife in a drenched pine forest. The bloke in the SJ used a couple of pulleys and the wee Suzuki inched the Safari out. It was like watching magic for me!
Love it. Had my yeti for over 5 years. 2wd unfortunately. Currently lowered on H&R springs with bilstein dampers and a racechip. Any parts coming for the 110bhp 2wd models?

ive taken my octavia (non scout) on the odd green lane, its completely stock and got some all season tyres on it, and its not too bad on basic lanes but it gets very scrapey very quickly

There's a few other modifications in the pipe line, one of which is a Winch! It'll be getting a tune too. Stay tuned for the next video showing how it performs green laning and at a pay and play day!
When you realize that the yeti is an universal donor car you will be surprised, it's a golf mk6 with caddy/Touran gearbox/engine, had to swap out the electric seat and mounted q5 s-line seats 😆

Cosmetic changes. As long as he looks good. I wonder how the service of such an improvement looks like later. The best part was restoring the metal rims. They weren't straightened or anything. Smudge in paint and it's ready. Underbody protection is not improved. It is an off-road car that will drive around the city. I've seen some funny projects like this before. They would at least paint it with raptor paint for scratches and here only wax to make it shine. A city car with off-road tires, a roof rack and glossy paint. The only thing that increases is the fuel consumption.
@@DarksideDevelopments I watched this video material. You can see that the terrain is suited to this Yeti. Not too wet, not too muddy, no sand. You can see that the car has problems with larger rock breaks. Scrubs the bumper and undercarriage. It can handle light terrain and it would be the perfect car for a doctor who travels to patients. However, please do not call it an off-road vehicle. The lack of snorkel suggests that it cannot cope with deeper water. Under normal conditions, the car would be driven for a long time, but it is a self-supporting body and will not withstand such exploitation for a long time. You can customize this car with various modifications, but you will still strive for an off-road car that is built on the frame. It will be cheaper to buy a Nissan Patrol or a Suzuki Samurai, Jimny and have a better effect for less money. Let me just mention the stupid chuckles of the Skoda gentlemen during the conversation with the old man with the dog. You may not have broken the law, gentlemen, but you have entered the place where these people live and use this place. It is disrespectful to the locals. His reaction suggests that he has already had bad experiences with people like you. You went to the vicinity of human settlements, not to the wilderness, and you call it off-road driving. The car of the Audi Allroad class. Just looking good.

the facelift version of the yeti look in my opinion better but for this build the round headlights just fit in

On the steel wheels it didn't require any spacers but it would depend on the specs of your stock wheels. The did however catch slightly on full lock.

We designed them ourselves and then the wrappers (Graphic Innovation Group) made them and fitted them

When you realize that the yeti is an universal donor car you will be surprised, it's a golf mk6 with caddy/Touran gearbox/engine, had to swap out the electric seat and mounted q5 s-line seats 😆

Cosmetic changes. As long as he looks good. I wonder how the service of such an improvement looks like later. The best part was restoring the metal rims. They weren't straightened or anything. Smudge in paint and it's ready. Underbody protection is not improved. It is an off-road car that will drive around the city. I've seen some funny projects like this before. They would at least paint it with raptor paint for scratches and here only wax to make it shine. A city car with off-road tires, a roof rack and glossy paint. The only thing that increases is the fuel consumption.

@@DarksideDevelopments I watched this video material. You can see that the terrain is suited to this Yeti. Not too wet, not too muddy, no sand. You can see that the car has problems with larger rock breaks. Scrubs the bumper and undercarriage. It can handle light terrain and it would be the perfect car for a doctor who travels to patients. However, please do not call it an off-road vehicle. The lack of snorkel suggests that it cannot cope with deeper water. Under normal conditions, the car would be driven for a long time, but it is a self-supporting body and will not withstand such exploitation for a long time. You can customize this car with various modifications, but you will still strive for an off-road car that is built on the frame. It will be cheaper to buy a Nissan Patrol or a Suzuki Samurai, Jimny and have a better effect for less money. Let me just mention the stupid chuckles of the Skoda gentlemen during the conversation with the old man with the dog. You may not have broken the law, gentlemen, but you have entered the place where these people live and use this place. It is disrespectful to the locals. His reaction suggests that he has already had bad experiences with people like you. You went to the vicinity of human settlements, not to the wilderness, and you call it off-road driving. The car of the Audi Allroad class. Just looking good.

We should have done it earlier in the day... working on a muddy car is not ideal... working on a wet muddy car is even worse!
