    This was so nifty! You're such a good momma, my crafty friend. I think that box looks tons better than some stuffy old swanky thousands of dollars box anyway!! Sparkle on!

      Ha ha - much appreciated! I can say with complete confidence that if I owned a $5000 Armada chest, I would NOT be using it in escape games anyway! LOL

      Tissue paper and Mod Podge can do just about anything together - look like old wood, old warped metal, skin, leather... it's all in how you smooth it or wrinkle it! ;)

      I'm trying to use this time to really polish up my escape games (I can't work right now because indoor gatherings are still banned, but at least I can fancy up all my lock boxes!)

    That silver paint really brought the box to life!! And I actually laughed out loud when I saw the price of that real iron box. Haha! Great tutorial! Might have to use your technique on my own boxes. 😁

      I know! The photo I showed of my inspiration box had a price of $2300 but then I couldn't find it again to screencap the price - and then I stumbled upon the $5000 one. I gotta get into the Armada chest business I think!! LOL

      As I'm currently unable to work my budget is extremely low! LOL (We can't have indoor gatherings here in Alberta, so it is impossible for me to go set up games in people's homes. Therefore, craft foam and an old can of Mod Podge I found in a closet!)

      There are some awesome pre-made boxes out there, but since I'm not currently working (no indoor gatherings means no group escape games), I really can't justify spending money on them. So DIY it is! ;)

      You are welcome! I love making lock boxes. Another favourite technique of mine is using mod podge and cool patterned napkins to create different designs. I might have to make a video about that one day! :)

    $5000 for a lock box, that's pricey. Did you come up with the craft on your own? It looks pretty good, definitely no need to spend $5000.

      I have done stuff like this before with my junior high students when I taught art. We made Venetian masks one year with this method and then decked them out with beads and feathers. One of my favourite crafts!
