  • Perhaps one of the most thoroughly restored and tastefully updated CJ7, in my humble opinion. A great truck, and a rare opportunity to purchase for a fraction of the build cost.17,500 miles since new, 3000 miles since the extensive resto-mod.

For the people that are commenting on the price of this restoration, you should research "Jonathan Ward", or "Icon". No one does a more thorough, attention to detail oriented, restoration. They use products, and coatings, that are the best available, and are made to last. NO shortcuts with his restorations!

I had an 82 Jeep. I didn't think it was that crappy. It was a step up from my '62 Ford Falcon. The Jeep is long gone but I still have the Falcon. The Falcon has been up on blocks in the garage since 1995 resting with a bad motor.

The blister lights have always been my hang up with CJs. Willy's and Modern Wrangler's have the recessed lights. Much tougher looking. The original paint had much more character, and much more inline with your brand. Didn't understand the change up choice on that.

I could see the potential for a trans swap but why swap out a dana 300 for an np231!!??? An aluminum, chain driven case in place of a steel, gear driven case. And the ax (asin warner) transmission is okay behind an I6 for which its designed, but a 300hp v8 is pushing it. I'd have opted to keep the D300 (doesn't need a slip yoke eliminator) and just swap in an sm420, which even came stock in some cj's. Cool jeep but looks like someone got a free Dana 300 (or sold it and the trans for profit). But then again the owner bought a jeep and wanted something that drove like a car...

    • @RussellTelker

I like both the FJs and Series Land Rovers better than any American made vehicle for serious off road driving. And I like the old ones better with no electronics because you can fix them in a TEOTOWAKI situation. That said the stuff Icon and similar modstorers/upfitters do makes for great comfortable vehicles that are cool for the upscale mechanically challenged clientele. They are much better on road and dilettante four wheeling rigs but hard core off roaders aren’t going to beat the hell out of that much money.
