This new "Buell" company would do well to focus on providing parts and service to all the faithful Buell owners in the US and the world. The transition to new bikes will then be easier for them. How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?

    • @2livenoob
      @2livenoob 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Exactly, they would do well to support their base first.

I would love for that the happen but I would imagine it wouldn't be financially viable for this new iteration of Buell to do this. I had an 07 Ulysses and it was an amazing bike. The suspension was excellent, the frame was strong and ridged, but the engine was the weak point. Redline came way too early and peak hp was pitiful for 1200cc bike. In contrast the bike had a boatload of torque. I hope this version of Buell succeeds, it would be nice to have an American motorcycle company that doesn't just produce cruisers. (I know, I know the Indian FTR 1200 exsists.)

@Mookypants - Sorry your "had" is past-tense. I still "have" my 2008 Buell XB12X Ulysses, still going strong, and I'm more than happy with it being a torque-monster SUV on 2 wheels, not a crotch rocket. When the underslung "refrigerator" exhaust can rusted out, I replaced it with a tiny Supertrapp, with remap to match, which made it noticeably more zippy (though at the cost of reduced mpg, which I don't really mind for the benefit). I also have a 2010 Triumph Speed Triple for the use case that you mentioned. Everybody needs at least two bikes, since only one bike that tries to do it all ends up doing none of those things really well.

Might come down to who has the rights to each part, like the engine and trans stuff is technically Harley so you’d have to complain to them but you know they’d say they don’t work on those engines or bikes as a whole. Other stuff that is specific Buell patently owned would be cool to see if they would offer some support for older models since they paved the way toward this current iteration of the company.

The way HD treated Erik Buell reminds me of how Ford treated Carroll Shelby, kinda sad when companies that size rarely if ever step out of their comfort zone.

Erik Buell turned out to be an unexpected threat to HD execs w/ his increasing power in the boardroom. HD clipped Buell to prove a point NOT because they weren't selling well because they most certainly were.

My dad used to work at Buell up until they closed the first time in 2009. Bought his friend's XB12S and have been riding it for the past five years! He has some great stories from when he worked there, and Buell's relationship with Harley was definitely tumultuous (great race bike engineer, but could have probably kept some of his criticism of Harley's management to himself). Apparently they had a dirt bike with a new Rotax water cooled engine meant to compete with KTM's 400cc class bikes that was about ready to go into production before Harley pulled the plug. Maybe this is what they are planning on coming out with? I mean, the designs would be over 10 years old at this point, but maybe some of the elements will carry over.

Been a Buell fan every since I was a kid. Owned an XB9S back in the day and currently own an XB9R. I think the innovation of Buell was good, but sadly the partnership with HD went sour. I think EBR could have helped catch the young market like HD is only now attempting to reach but it’s too little too late.

I hope that the new Buell venture succeeds. It seems a little off without Erik himself, I got to meet him when he visited the dealer I purchased my 1190RX from. However, I am happy that his tech and engineering, built from an intimate love and understanding of motorcycles, will live on. If you're ever in the Cincinnati area, I'd be fine with lending the 1190RX for a ride.... as long as you're careful, lol. I don't let anyone ride it but me usually, it is certainly a machine that demands respect and will slap the s**t out of anyone that try's to wring it like a 600.

I have recently added a Buell XB9R to my collection and modified it for sport touring. It is one of the most fun to ride bikes I've ever had and I've been riding for over 50 years now. You can get fast by strapping a rocket engine to a bicycle frame but it won't handle. The handling on the Buell is so intuitive that it makes for a much more relaxed and exillerating experience. At the moment ,used Buells are going for the price of an entry level bike and are the best bagain out there.

Love Buell motorcycles! Owned an XB9R Firebolt for 7 years. I was sold on the innovative design, looks, and handling. Yes, the engine was no arm stretcher but I was never interested in straight-line speed, although it was plenty fast enough to get in trouble. It was the twisties where all the fun happens and this is where it shines. They stepped it up a big notch with the 1125R and CR. The Rotax gave the performance to better suit the chassis, this was a perfect combo I thought!! As for the 1190RX, that thing scared me, you need velcro gloves and hand grips to hang on to the bloody thing. Awesome for the track but as with all large sports bikes it's way too much for everyday use, hell of a lot of fun though :)

I currently have a 07 XB12R I bought new in 2007. I have previously owned the 1125R for a number of years, and riden the 1190RX/SX series. As slow as the XB series is, it very fun. Its an awesome handling little bike that is just really enjoyable to ride. The 1190's go like crazy and are a great ride. Personally if you want one though, go for the RX. They both use the same tail sections and seats, which were designed first for the RX. The angle of the seat just feels a bit wrong for the more upright SX that causes you to slide into the airbox when sitting on it.

In 2017 Superbike magazine did a liter bike shootout, that included a 2014 model EBR. (yes, a 2014 bike against 2017 models) The EBR made more power than everything except for the Aprilia and the BMW (both revved higher) And it made heaps more torque than all the bikes in the shootout. That bike is a weapon that most people underestimate.

I had an 1125cr. it was an incredible bike with more character and soul than ANY bike I have ever owned. Unfortunately, it also had electrical gremlins the like of which I have never seen. The wire harness burnt up, so the Harley dealership's "fix" was to replace the wire harness and bypass the first stage on the stator, as the stators were prone to burning up. Unfortunately, this also caused the battery to drain in traffic.

It sounds good and it is a fair amount hipster if I may say so my self. I like the simple oldschool push rod air cooled engine if the price matches. I do not like Harley because they cost a ton but under preform compared to everyone else. Why buy any Harley when for the same money you could have a Triumph Rocket3?

I'm always going to be rooting for American companies. I'm a cruiser bro, but I know I'll be in the market for other bikes one day. I like to support American as much as I can.
Knowing American companies, they're afraid of making a cheaper bike so they'll try too hard to be high end. I think they might not have the R&D money for that yet. I do hope for the best

This is exciting news to me. I've always liked Buell. The KTM RC8 is to me a sick looking monster of a bike!....The EBR looked really hot when it came out....I hated the news that they couldn't stay afloat..I hope the company makes it this time and I hope the EBR resembles the Render image...If its anything close to the RC8 from KTM ...We are getting a super bitchin' American Road Ripper!...I can't wait to see it in showrooms!

I really hope they bring the Buell's back to life. My only worry is that this new incarnation is owned by the Liquid Asset Partners, so basically seems financial engineers are resuscitating the brand. Bill Melvin is the CEO of EBR, and surprisingly they don't announce any of their leadership team on their website. I truly hope they are successful though, maybe that's what Buell needed in the past, better financial management. Sometimes passion doesn't manage money well, and money does not manage passion well either.

Yammie, I need you to answer me a question. ...I need to know, why is that there is a key position, in which your bike appears to be off. but if you look at your tail light, it’s on. And if you don’t notice your battery will be dead in the morning or even an hour later.
    Why do they do this?
