2:26 You meant don't pull out a lot, only a few militer before touching the puddle, am I right?
Man this is amazing , I've been fighting this for days trying to get it right. I watched this 10 minutes later laying beads. Thank you . Great video
I’m on 3g right now. I need this like a pig needs slop
Keep at it bro . 3g roots were like kryptonite to me when i was in school.
Keep trying, don’t be bummed out if it isn’t going to well, remember every fail and learn from your mistakes and try again.
@@jeffgreer198613 Same here. Took months for me to figure it out, but once I had it, the test test where way more simple.
SAME
Same..I’m in the booth watching this rn
Thanks for this, I've been battling with the same setup on 3/8" plate in class, for the past few days. Good info that I'll try out when I go back tomorrow!
Well did you pass🤔
@@terrybrewer1622 I did! 3G and 4G
I had months
The bead on the backside says it all. Probably the easiest method to learn open root with and consistent too 😊
Just started open root in class. Thank you for showing the set up and the prep process. Much help
Another one for the books guys. Awesome video. Practical application.
I've been having trouble with this in my welding class and I think this video gave me a better understanding.
Repetition.
Settings.
Gap.
Comfort.
They make it look easy.
Continue trying the harder positions to get better at the others.
Angle your plate to forty-five an lean away or towards you to simulate 6g.
This will make the regular four positions easier in relatively.

Got a weld test Tuesday next week for a boiler company this video came in handy
Nice video, I got a 6010 3g on a 3/8 plate today and a bend test for midterms too. I can’t wait to get it done.
Same I have mine today😅
Thanks for that side view. It really helps.
Really great video. The film quality is amazing and the info is straight to the point. Thank you a lot for the uploads. I'm in Houston as well going to weld school and this channel has helped me alot.

Nice work. More videos
Thanks you via very good 👍👍
Excelente video y trabajo estoy soldando cañería y me ayuda mucho ,gracias
Thanks for the video! I definitely needed this. I’ve been blowing holes in my plates in class haha. I’ll try this next time and see if i can control the heat more by not pulling out as much. I have to take my test soon.
You in school Peyden?
@@downhilldaddy9346 yup. Been in trade school for a few months now
@@Peyden what kind of welding you looking to get into?
@@downhilldaddy9346 Well I have my mig and flux certifications, but I’m working on stick now and I’ll do tig next. As far as a career goes I’m hoping I can make it on a pipeline or do some other structural work. Might try to join the local union.
@@Peyden TIG is the future. Good luck and I hope to see you in a plant sometime 🤙🏾
Still helping out fools like me. Thanks Rosendo.
Love the tips from your videos. It's great to hear and see other people weld everybody weld differently. Side note, who makes the stinger you are using? Thanks again!
Don't pull out, got it ✅️
Worked on my first try. I did it at 85 Amps and worked like a charm.
85 for the root? In class they told me to do it 65-75?
I’m in spot practicing where 80 amps is a bit too hot, and 75 seems too cold my keyhole keeps closing and snuffing the arc. Drives me nuts

“Do NOT pull out”. “You gotta make sure you touch your puddle”. Words to live by.
BRAVO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
very good
Nice 👍
Thanks sir
Nice
He'll yeah rosendo get that shit!
Buitiful brother
👍👍👍
First, I was just about to comment so when are the weld tube welding gloves and products coming?? Commented too soon 🤣🤣🤣💪
Unfortunately no gloves yet it seems
When stitching only touch the puddle after it solidifies so go up and wait till the puddle cools down then touch it again and repeat that method, thats how i learned
Very well
I started 3g Friday and I showed me instructor and he looked me in the eye and asked me “what the fuck is that”
Assalamulaikum..
Guy's I'm always watching from pangasinan, Philippines
We using E6011... Me make crazy..
By the way I'm just a student beginner
I really love your videos i really learned a lot. Im from Mexico i have a question. Is there a way to go to united states to take some courses or work there.?
The 3g or has gotten me depressed af Thankyou so much
Boa noite seus vídeos muito bom
Nice weld.... Can I borrow your welding mask.. 😁
جيد عمل رائع
👏👏
I've always known this technique as "whipping" great video!
Seems like it, but when you're going horizontal, I don't think you touch your puddle
Or "jacking"
I asked around yesterday: it's basically the upwards whip and pause technique. I believe the teacher in this video repeats "touch your puddle" not because you actually do it, but to stick in your mind that your arc length should stay minimal
@@Solaniin basically it's suppose to be the same diameter as the rod your using.
Maybe next video show us tig on pipe but free hand every thing
Super Azerbaycandan severek izledim
Hi bro I'm Indian 15 years ago welder
I always see the wide gaps low heat. Alot harder then people think. But a tighter gap requires more heat snd you gotta move faster so end of the day. Its preference.
@2:27. I think I would want to pullout 👶🏻👶🏼👶🏽👶🏾👶🏿😹😹😹
Очень красиво
Less gap between plates
You made that look waaaayyy too easy bro
Saludos
Cuanto amperaje usaste en el pase de raíz vertical?????
I pull out 😄
What polarity is used when welding plate up hill 6010
Thanks guys for the best video on welding
Reverse
DC + is reverse polarity and Welding pipe is Down hill is DC- straight polarity
Which mean welding 6010 plate root pass is DC+ right?
Thanks for reply to my questions
DC+ is reverse polarity.
Welding pipe with a downhill progression using SMAW/Stick process will be DC+/reverse polarity. Typically you will use DC-/straight polarity with FCAW/flux core or with GTAW/Tig processes

✌️
Just for you brother🇮🇩
Deberían hacer del mismo video dos versiones en inglés y en español latino
No matter what you do DO NOT pull out. Very important.
❣️🥀
in the old days that technique was called whipping
North, south, whipping.
East, west, weaving.
Push? Is what I heard about driving the 60## rod into the open root, yet I don't recall if there's a name for this.
Arc length doesn't really cover it does it?
Arc length for up or down I suppose, now we have words for all three axis.
What kind of disc is used to clean de root pass? Any amazon links to buy them?
Tienes k poner una plaquita para entrar y otra para salir saludos bro
Does the same technique apply when doing it in the overhead position??
My work gave me an esab 180i but I don’t weld. Is that a good beginner welder?
For the root must electrodes thinner?
I see that your rod angle is almost perpendicular; I see, in other videos, welders using slight upward (20˙?) rod angle... Does that make a difference? Thanks!
My boss does almost a 80° angle and his come out amazing everytime I think it’s more preference than anything
Can this technique be used on pipe?
how about a "monster" coupon , 6010 root?. Please.

I know it's hard to show on Camara but one thing this video doesn't show or express is you need to PAY ATTENTION TO THE CONSISTENCY OF THE PUDDLE, if the puddle is looking really wet you need to speed up and stack the next dime a little further apart, otherwise the puddle gets really hot and burns through or drips down. You keep doing so until the puddle stabilizes. A pointer to a stable puddle is everytime you whip out you should see your weld dry. If it stays wet when you whip back in, the puddle is too hot and it will burn through. Think of it as the reason you whip is to derive the heat away from the puddle. This is crucial in vertical welding because the puddle tends to get hotter as you go,
Quiero comprar esa mascara para España donde la puedo encontrar por favor diganme!! Gracias un saludo
