That was easily the most thorough and well spoken explanation I've seen in a while. The students there are very very lucky. Great camera work and editing as well. Props all around. What a resource.
it's amazing how you explain things in great details. especially for me because i'm still learning how to weld. i've seen some videos of welding but they just show how they weld and not explain it..so i'm very thankful for finding videos like this from which i can learn so much .. Thank you God bless and keep it up..
From Detroit, this is one seriously well-executed teaching lesson. I am in welding school with this EXACT test coming at me in 3 weeks. I have it saved in my paly list and I will watch it again and again. Thank you again, and I have NEVER seen or heard it explained so well. Thank you.
Extremely awesome and helpful video. I'm having trouble 2G with my Root 6010. Having trouble reading the puddle and figuring out how far to "push" out of my keyhole, but I'm going to try touching the forward-most edge of it, and I'm going to go back and touch the edge of my puddle when I see signs it's starting to cool too much. One part of the video, around the 13min mark, you're talking about how one of your 7018 passes didn't fill to the top edge. I have this problem a LOT in Vertical/Uphill. I was REALLY hoping you'd explain how you were going to fill it, but you cut away. Awesome video all around though, thank you!
To slow, causes too much heat to build up, and if you're not careful you can leave more inclusions if heat and travel speed aren't right. Weaving done right gives you more control of metal deposited and better control of residual heat buildup, and a more proportional cap foundation. Practice, practice, practice. 👍
@@MH-WM I get you when I try doing stringers some of me welds have bumps. But with small weave I sometimes weave more than I should it’s hard to do small weaves
@@MH-WM weaving is slower than stringers. If you have "more control" doing one or the other than stick to that, they both accomplish the same things. I would agree that weaving can be more efficient if done well, but takes a lot more practice to consistently do properly. To each their own.
Beautiful! Nice video! Perfect cam shots and angles, CLEAR VIEWS, well picked and easily digestive words for the detailed explaination ! Nice music! God bless!
I've been struggling with my 3f position and just can't seem to get it straightened out so I'm gonna use your method and see how I do. Thanks for your vids, keep them coming.
@@Infamous_q50 man I had one tiny spot in the last bend that they bent. The guy on morning shift said he would’ve passed it but the night shift guy wasn’t cutting corners. I went and tried again, and my cap was 100% better than the first time but my root must’ve been worse than the first time because my first piece broke completely in half. I had to repair the root on the second one a few times so I’m assuming that’s why. So I’m gonna practice and then go try again one day in the future. Thank you for checking with me, I appreciate that.
@@Infamous_q50 I even took pictures of the cap, my second try, because I was so confident that I had it in the bag. But that root just wasn’t good enough. I was upset but they were really encouraging to me, told me to come back and try again when I had practiced a bit. I just hate failure but I was bound to bust out at some point in the career.
In two videos 4g and now 3g you have taught me more about SMAW than my technical school.. If it weren't for the internet I would never progress in welding.
I'm having problems doing a 3g root pass, I keep fucking up the end and it's a self paced class. Instructors just sit at their desks and don't really help out.
You might experience arc blow about 75-80% of the way to the end of your weld. One way I used that seemed to prevent that from happening was clipping my ground to the work piece itself instead of the table.
Could you please tell me what electrode size you use for the 6010 and 7018? And on the other hand, can you tell me if the biscellate has a heel and how many mm is it? thank you very much for your video
90 amps for the 7018..... Is that a warm 3/32 or a cold 1/8 rod? The landing and rod is 3/32 so I'm guessing it's a 3/32" rod. I could be wrong...it happens a lot.

Oh what a relief, I thought I'm the only one who have shaky hands.

Love hearing him describe it all… explaining a hand-eye skill to someone will have you tongue-tied. 10 outta 10
Best instructor all the details in this videos it's gold
Yo bro it took me 3 tries to certify me in this weld your video would have helped me tremendously about 5 months ago😅 thank you though bro love you
Really good video. You stayed on the subject and didn't beat around the bush. Very good.
One of the best open root tutorials I have seen 👍🏻
my name is marc Manget, I really enjoy watching Abe's video's. Abe explains everything so nicely and does not rush things.
Another one down. Awesome video guys. I was digging the audio mix during the cap. Lol. Good job guys.
this mix thing is awesome.

I like how he explains the statement he makes and the negative side of each decision.
We will have our assessment next month, in SMAW thanks for your videos. It really helped a lot. I hope to pass the assesment..

Same at Tulsa Welding School in 101.
When i was learning stick in school i asked about feathering. My teacher asked if i was kidding.. but this is good stuff
Biggest problem with welding instruction, teaching only one variability.
There are multiple ways to do almost everything.
Excellent work there

Thank you my brother 💗 Iam from India
