I find these to be very handy when trying to strip romex already installed in boxes that are hard to access (both 12/2 and 14/2). Best to just crimp the wire, remove the tool (don't yank the tool to try and remove the insulation) and just hand pull the jacket. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WDR197X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

NEC stated that it needs at least 3” past the opening and 6” from the termination.

So 3" past face of box? Also, what is a termination, where the wires are connected to the receptacle, switch, light...? Or does that include Wire nuts. Does the 6" measurement start at the point where the outer jacket of the Romex has been stripped off? NEC is so straight forward and easy to understand that even electrical inspectors interpret everything the same way every time a new edition is adopted!

@@DanSarahMakers I’m not an electrician, just a guy who like DIY and read NEC 2020. My interpretation might be wrong as well. 3” pass the face of the box, and 6” from the face of the the wire connector inside the box. About the wire nut, I do the same 6” and still make sure I have 3” pass the face of the box. However, I don’t know if this is to code though, need to read that pages again.

@@DanSarahMakers 300.14 "At least 150 mm (6 in.) of free conductor, measured from the point in the box where it emerges from its raceway or cable sheath, shall be left at each outlet, junction, and switch point for splices or the connection of luminaires or devices. Where the opening to an outlet, junction, or switch point is less than 200 mm (8 in.) in any dimension, each conductor shall be long enough to extend at least 75 mm (3 in.) outside the opening." 6" starts at the point in which it enters the box, and it must be able to extend 3" from the face of the box. I am a electrician, in my state of oregon we are on 2020 nec so depending on what code your state is in it may or may not be the same.
