If you're really concerned about quickly identifying which side is for which gauge, paint the back/underside of pliers head with white/yellow paint

I was thinking of buying 1 of these first to see how they checked out. If I liked em I was planning on buying another and then taking an angle grinder and making one tool for 14/2 only and one for 12/2 only. Might help in those crammed boxes or panel

Good idea, you would have one for 14-2 and 12-2 , you wouldn't have to check to make sure you had the right one.
Maybe check my video on the Romex wire strippers from Southwire. th-cam.com/video/Bvs59bpoe_8/w-d-xo.html
You could do the sane thing.

A little pricy, but I like them myself. They work well for stripping after the wires are pulled into the box, as they are made to do... as long as the box is not full and restricts access. All in all, I'm happy with them and they are used all the time. I don't use them to pull the wire, rather use them to crimp/score the cable and then hand pull the jacket off. I think trying to pull the jacket with them produces too much stress on the tool. My only complaint with them... the lock tends to engage when you insert it into the box. Kind of annoying.

Yes they are pricey. Stripping the 14-2 sheathing inside electrical box works well. Thanks for posting.

Has anyone had any problems with it cutting through the actual wires insulation?

Yes, I have. I had to stop using them. The 12/2 side of the stripper works better on the 14/2 side. Way less damage as my experience with them.

I purchased one of these from Amazon. It was defective out of the package.
The cutting surfaces on each side had a 12-2 and 14-2 for each half. Therefore it's too big on one side for 14-2 romex and will be too small for 12-2 romex with the potential to damage the black or white conductors depending on how you orientate the tool....dangerous!
Didn't try to use unfortunately until return window had closed, wrote a review with pictures. No one from Amazon or Southwire has reached out to replace the defective tool!

That's bad. I would reach out to Southwire again.

Maybe it work better with 6-8inch of wire in the box and your loop on wire not pass the test. Thanks for the video , im gonna take money for other tools :)
