The snapshot has quickly become one of the most popular shots in the NHL where elite players are able to load and release their snapshots incredibly quick to elude shot-blocking defenders and to change the angle of their shot to improve their chances of scoring on the game's best goaltenders.
Snapshots are quicker than a wrist shot and more accurate than a slap shot. The most important attribute of a good snapshot is the quickness with which you can release the puck.
    Tips:
    - The snapshot is released from the middle to the tip of the blade.
    - I like to pull the puck into a position that feels comfortable with the toe of my stick.
    - Top hand away from the body
    - Bottom hand strong to exert force downward to flex the stick
    - Let the flex pop on the release
    - Short and quick follow through with a strong bottom hand
    - When practicing, look when you’re shooting
    Drills:
    - Flex the stick and let it release/pop without a puck
    - Stationary shooting square to the net
    - Shoot around a defender & change the angle of your shot
    - Practice shooting the puck from different positions around your body

Looking forward to hockey starting up again after covid. Broke my finger skateboarding but cast off Aug 12th and hockey starts mid Oct so I got some time to get on the ice and get in gameshape! I’m 57 years young and this will be my 4th year playing hockey. I’m a big SHARKS FAN and I’m hooked on playing hockey! Thanks for the very informative video - I will be watching over and over!

This video was shot shortly after we installed the synthetic ice, so it wasn't a result of any upkeep.

How important is it to have flex on your stick? bc I fail to flex the stick when shooting.

    • @HockeyRecap
      @HockeyRecap  2 ปีที่แล้ว

It's critical to shooting the puck properly. What is the flex of your stick and how much do you weigh? Your stick flex should be roughly half (or less) of your body weight. If your stick flex is appropriate, then it's a technical issue.

@@JohnPorkExposesLOL That's a little on the stiff side, but generally okay. I like the stick up to my chin/bottom lip on skates.
