@Lion Of Judah We also know that Trojans, Greeks, and Romans were all likely early Aryans because there are genetic and cultural evidence supporting the theory. Cultures stretching from Europe to South East Asia all see use of swastika as a sacred symbol of peace, prosperity, and the earth. Many patterns of diffusion seem to have occurred as a result of the domestication of the horse by the early original Proto-Indo Europeans. All these cultures are extremely rich with mythology and great cultural similarities. Zeus in Greece (king of heavens who throws lightning), Jupiter in Roman religion (king of heavens who throws lightning), and Indra in Hinduism (also the king of heavens who throws lightning). Even in the name Zeus, Deus, Jupiter, Deus Pitr (Indra).
This information is necessary to understand the connection as Hinduism was the world's first religion and it did not originate from a single prophet similar to Greek Mythology. They have been around for as long as people know. Scientists and historians can only speculate. Stories in these Aryan religions have detailed descriptions of locations which are thought to lead to places in the real world as many hidden treasures and cities have been discovered. Furthermore, detailed stories about giants and whatnot exist and giant humans actually used to exist in the 10,000 years we know nothing about history (evidence found in Russia (Dennisovan theories)).
Point is these early religions seem to be based of truth and nature and if anything is correct, it is probably them.

The movie Troy is actually about what the ideal type of man should and shouldn't look like
    1) The ideal man -> Achilles, Hector, Odysseus -> Strength, respect, honor, humility, loyalty, wisdom -> They fight and defend their ideals and goodness
    2) Toxic man -> Agamemnon -> alcoholic, arrogant, takes women as slaves, wretched
    3) Weak and pathetic man -> Paris -> Takes another man's wife, lets others fight for him, doesn't stand up for his own opinions, can't face anything

    • @menalgharbwalsharq648

Lmao, like not.at.all. this movie is an adaptation of a story that existed 2000 years ago, dpnt try to slap your modern sociology on it.
Also, the only reason you include brad pitt in perfect man is because this mf is gorgeous, but he is the baddie here. He have no ideal or goal outside of his own fame. He is a violent killer, short tempered, who take advantage of this women, only with more subtelety than his brethen. @@vitkucera1116 Well, I don't think that Homer wrote this story to make a statement about various types of masculinity because I think that ancient greeks did not have the same standards than we do for mens. I clearly understand how you can make this analyse tho.
But like, we don't really know about agamemenon relation to women. WE just know that he took achilles captive girl for himself and then gave it to it's men who tried to take advantage of her, but she was a war conquest, a slave, which was not something weird back then.
Menelaus is closer to your analysis, but in the end, he was a strong men, powerful one but Helen did not love him, she was married by force like many women of this period and she did break her vow by cheating with another men. He was indeed a wreck who drink and party too much, and keep Helen as a trophy mostly.
Paris is certainly portrayed as a weak men, but he is very young, he represent the passion of youth ones who do things without thinking ( like dueling Menelaus which almost got him dead and he did not bear the responsibility of his duel and ran to his older brother). He did stand up for his opinion, but could not keep up with the pressure and brought shame to his family. Even Priam would have probably prefer that his son die proud rather than live as a coward. But helen loves him, probablyu because she feel that he would never hurt her.
Hector is clearly the ideal of the good man, what we call the "gentleman" but not only in his relationship, he is the good leader, the prince who is not king yet just because his father is still alive, but bear all the responsibilities of this title, as well as a loving husband and father. And this archetype of perfect men is destroyed by Achilles's pride

Boy did they get the casting right in this film. And the writing. This scene, that speech. It just brings to the forefront the whole question of mythology and religion. I remember "The Iliad", and thinking my god, were the ancient peoples really this obsessed with religion? Was it that permeated in every moment of their waking lives? So obsessively you wonder how could they even function, if I trip Zeus must hold me in disfavor, ect.? When in actuality all you can go by are nebulous "signs." It's the perfect speech because Achilles welcomes the dawn of agnosticism, of pure Socratic reasoning: "The gods envy us." Next step, the "gods" don't exist, we made them up, to give us comfort on this lonely mortal's journey.

    • @brianmallen8887

@Joel Sennerstrand The priests, who invented the gods, derived their power which enabled their very sustenance from fear and love. Flip a coin for either, which garentees the coins in the bowl, or the "victuals" left ostensibly for the gods. By comfort, we mean reasons for existence. Achilles the agnostic, spares with Briseas, the true believer. "Where's the sun god now?" "He's waiting for the right time to strike." You gotta give it up for Achilles, holding his ground before this beautiful creature. In real life any guy woulda been "oh yeah honey, tell you what, how about I build you a temple? You can be the high priestess."

God is a concept that is as old as humanity itself and that is because it is deeply engraved into our psyche. Everyone can experience this and all our ancestors really did was personifying existing emotions and psychological motifs. What do you think happens when one takes a powerful dose of psychedelics? The mind literally goes into this mode where its consciousness expands a thousands times faster than it would normally and you are left with the feeling that your perception as a human being is actually too miniscule and underdeveloped for us to say anything absolute about the existence of god or any other supernatural matter.

    • @brianmallen8887
      @brianmallen8887 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

What I really like about "Troy" is how much is in the basket. There's romantic love-(though for some reason I feel it more from Achilles and Brisaes than Paris and Helen) familial love: Hector/Paris, Mendeleos/Agamemnon. War and violence, who's the greatest at arms, Achilles.?..You gotta give it up for Agamemnon, he was a good strategist. His two armies against your one. You submit, you get to keep your kingdom, just fight for big A when next he asks. Which he will. That's probably how he rolled up all the Greek city states: Sparta, Athens, Ithaca, . Agememnon is a proto-emperor. So there's big high stakes political/nationalist rivalry going on: Troy vs. Greek City States....."History remembers Kings and Commanders, not soldiers."...."Be careful king of kings, first you have to win the victory." But what's most ironic is "Troy" is a domestic fantasy. Achilles comes trudging back from a hard day at war to the deluxe tent by the shore. Here's two creatures matched in charisma, aBrisaes&Achilles; multi-leveled love story. But you want to keep watching them because you believe in them. It's the outside world that tears them apart. That and Paris's arrows. But can you imagine the juxtaposition, kicking ass by day and making sweet love with Brisaes at night?

The ancient greeks had a very unique view of their gods. Although they were worshipped as extremely powerful they were not treated as morally or superior to us in any way except for their aforementioned power and immortality. Homer portrays a fight between the gods during the illiad as almost comical, because they cannot die, so too are their fights meaningless and without glory. But humans, since we risk everything all the time our acts have meaning.
I will say though this portrayal of achilles is bad, achilles was deeply devout and would never blaspheme the Gods.

Anybody who wants to live forever on earth or in heaven, has not truly contemplated/ understood the ideas of Infinity & eternity.
The Hinduism has an interesting philosophical approach to this. In Hindu mythology, many humans & daemons tried to earn immortality through various means. God took one form or another and struck them all down one way or another. Only one person called Ashwatthama was ever "cursed" with immortality because he killed a baby in a womb.
One more person Bheeshma in the same Epic called Mahabharata, was given the power to decide the time of his death because he was considered to be very wise. He ended up living too long and badly regretting his decision to keep postponing his own death.

People say Hinduism and Greek religion were same because they both have multiple God's and there is a thunder welding King of gods in both of them who is a jerk. Indra and Zeus, but this is where problem comes, when Indra acts like a jerk he is punished multiple times for thousands and thousands of years and one time a Human was given his throne as punishment to teach him. But Zeus got no such retribution as no one is above him but in Hinduism there are actual God's who have to make sure that Dharma is maintained, there are multiple realities in Hinduism and in each there is a Indra there is only one Vishnu, Shiva and Shakti.

    • @EloraSelah

Indra is not one guy, it works like a cycle. One time he was even replaced by a Human king.
Indra is a name used by multiple heavenly beings who take the place of King of Devta's not god's.
The similarity between Hindu and Greek gods is cosmetic, they are very different ideas.

The Christian God is unique in the sense that we're not just "Servants" and "Mortals" - But eventually we are destined to become Gods literal children. The bible states that God will be our Father and we will be ascended above the Angels in heaven.
"Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?" - 1 Corinthians 6:3 KJV
God wants us to behave like servants to teach us humility, Because our purpose in heaven is going to be far greater. It is said, that we will be Rulers and sit WITH God and Jesus Christ on the throne.
God wants us to be his Children - A royal bloodline in heaven. That is the difference between Paganism and Christianity.
Furthermore - Salvation is a free gift. You do not have to go to church, you do not have to do good deeds - All that you need to do, is truly believe in Jesus sacrifice for you and your heart will naturally change towards good.
Finally; For those who have a problem with it - Hell is NOT eternal. Eternal Hell is a lie to make god look cruel. Even more; Hell is only as bad as a person deserves. It's a punishment for the evil people have done and that is it. Then the will be no more. People choose to be with God or not.
"47 That servant who knows his master’s will but does not get ready or follow his instructions will be beaten with many blows. 48 But the one who unknowingly does things worthy of punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from him who has been entrusted with much, even more will be demanded" Luke 12:47-48 KJV
