That whistling is probably coming from the hepa filter. Either the gaskets are shot or the filter is badly restricted. I bought a DC14 full kit from good will back in July and it had the same issue. Bought a hepa/pre motor filter set. The hepa filter fit but the permit or filter was for a DC07 replaced the hepa filter and no more whistle. Also replaced the belts because they were stretched(clutch was fine so I took the clutch apart and replaced the belts) hose was shot and cord hook was broken, the wand was damaged and the cord hook was broken on it to. Now that I have replaced the want and hose assembly’s it’s flawless with the exception of a few scratches. Paid $20 for the DC14 , $93 for the hose and wand assembly’s(that includes shipping), $35 for the belts and filters(that also includes shipping). All the parts came from Amazon.
I have a dyson slim ball that I bought from target 2 years ago to replace my shark. And that dyson sill works great and strong since day 1 and im really impressed
I really like Dyson. Some are better than others. Dyson really remade the vacuum as they were the first to produce bagless vacuums. I now have 5 dysons. Nothing is better at carpets ( other than Kirby, sanitaire, Miele, stuff like that)

These older Dysons are great collector vacuums.
I totally agree. They don't clean amazingly but they are a really nice piece of vacuum history.

Didn’t know the DC18 was being sold at target 2 years ago. Or are you talking about cordless vacuums?
@@hamzahassan7730 oh no not the Dc18 I meant the dyson slim ball origin upright which its very similar to the dyson light ball.
You have a bad clutch when I send you the 07 I’ll send you a new clutch since the 07 will have a new one in place
