I can't stand some videos where the speaker is so annoying to listen to. Not the case here! Um, he should get commission on those part sales.
I am impressed with how cool you were under pressure! Thanks for sharing your knowledge about how to fix a vacuum cleaner! Thank you for showing us what it’s like in real life with all the ups and downs! I am excited to get my parts and fix my awesome vacuum!
Great video - I saved a fortune replacing the clutch on my 15yo DC33 myself. Only mishap was that the lower of the two clutch plastic mounts snapped as I (manually) turned the screw for the first time since it left the factory. Prolonged the job by ages but managed to deal with it. The brand new brushbar belt was BLEDDY stiff to get on. Along with a wash of both filters and clearing muddy dog hair from various parts of its innards, it works as good as new again.
Thanks for putting this out there bro. Because of your vids I was able to skip the repair shop, refurbish my mom's Dyson and save the expense of purchasing a new one. Thanks again.

You rock!❤ Fixed my 15+ DC14 in less than 1 hour with a new clutch. I did have to get a set of long torx bits to get that one screw out. I couldn’t have done it without your help. Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you so much! I definitely didn’t intend to struggle. But it shows the reality of performing repairs. Sometimes it won’t go as smoothly as some of these other repair videos show you. I’m glad I could help you. 😊
Can’t say enough positive comments on your video ! Showing the areas where you might struggle and how to get through it answer’s all the questions that might arise . Also thanks for the links for all the parts and equipment, especially the recommendations , most video’s just show you the parts installed and not the special equipment used to accomplish it. Thanks again.
I’ve done this many times and although the it’s not too difficult for me anymore, this shows that any process than have its ups and downs. Thank you for enjoying the video
Dillon!!! You are a rock star!!!! THANK YOU!!! I couldn't have done this without you! I struggled wuite a bit - mostly with the T15 Torx screw that's deep inside that hole. First - I had never heard of a TORX screw (lol), second - my screw bit set only had T20 and up so had to go get a T15, third - that screw location is NOT easy to remove or reinstall!! But with your guidance (ok, and some swearing) I did it!!! WAHOO!!!! I really do appreciate your video and your instruction - you are amazing! And thank you for keeping the parts where you struggled a little - that made me feel less alone and encouraged me to keep trying!! Endless thanks!
That’s okay! As you see I struggled in the video and I’ve been doing this for 10 years. Getting it done at all is really impressive and you just saved yourself a lot of money.
Thanks for this video! Just finished replacing the clutch on a dc33 after watching. Completed the whole process in about 10 mins. The hardest part for me was popping off the carpet/bares floor toggle switch. I never would have even attempted it without your vid. Cheers!
Thank you! I have had numerous vacuums apart and have always subscribed to the school of "don't force it" and couldn't figure out how to get the clutch out. Now I have the answer, just pry the thing off :D
Yes. With the clutch nothing comes easy. It’s not a difficult repair. But it’s one of the more involved projects. I hope this video helped you out a bunch. And I hope this machine is back to tip top performance!
Great video very helpful. Some of the parts are more difficult to remove than shown in the video however I managed to eventually remove them without breaking anything. Thank you.
Thanks for the comment! My machine may be easier to take apart mainly because it’s been taken apart several times before. If yours has never been taken apart, parts may be stuck due to them being on there 15-20 years.
Thank you so, so much!! This was super helpful when it came to replacing the clutch in my stepmom's dc33 vacuum cleaner. Lord knows how long that brush wasn't spinning on carpet mode, but now it's finally back to working 100%! Again, thank you so so so much man, you're absolutely incredible 🔥
Thanks for the video. I am not inclined in this way (fixing mechanical things), but your step-by-step instructions made me feel like I am and saved me a repair money. Thanks again. Great instructions.
I own Dixie Chix Appliance Repair in Lewistown Montana and i was given this vacuum to fix and sell ,this video was very helpful, thank you so much! lol I hit myself in the face all the time 😖🥺
Hi Dillon, recently I trash picked a Dyson DC-07 and a DC-33 right next to each other by a dumpster in our apartments. For eight years, I have trash picked (among many other things) dozens of Bissells, Dirt Devils, Sharks, Hoovers, Eurekas, a Kenmore, and even a Riccar, but no Dysons until just recently, which I found the same day I also found a Windsor/Karcher. I hope to make one good Dyson out of two bad ones. And dealing with the clutch is part of what I have to do. Your video helps to make my salvage attempt possible. Thank you for putting this out there! If successful, then I will make a video about my Dysons. And btw, I will also make a video about the Karcher. (TH-cam keywords "Marshall Curtis" and "vacuum cleaners")
Sounds great! Trash picking vacuums is actually really fun and something I’ve done for years because it’s always given me a challenge of finding out why a vacuum was thrown away and how or if I can fix it. (I have a 100% success rate). I will certainly look out for that video! And so happy I could help
Thank you so much for this video! I needed to replace the smaller belt on my Dc07 and this helped me a lot. This has to be the most difficult belt change on any vacuum i have but this video made it as simple as possible.
You’re welcome!! Replacing the belts is certainly harder in this vacuum than just about any other vacuum. But they last a lot longer than most vacuums which is a nice plus.
Thanks. You saved me from spending a lot of money. Hmmm let’s see $500 for a new Dyson or $28 for a new (Genuine) Dyson clutch belt assembly…. Watching you CALMLY Disassemble / Reassemble also prevented me from throwing my vacuum cleaner across the room.
Oh my goodness! This video was by far the best there is for replacing the clutch! I struggled with some parts and you struggled with others, but it helps to know it doesn't always go perfectly. My comments were far more colorful for the parts that didn't go well than yours. $50 for everything including new filters and it works like a charm again. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Thank you so much! I don’t live these professional videos that make it look easy. This is real life and it can be challenging. And although I’ve done this many times, I still struggle. These dysons will last a very long time. And since you replaced your filters and your clutch, you’re good for many more years.
@@DillonCleans the thing is, you show every step! I would watch, go do it, watch again for the next step. The other ones I saw, they would jump from step one to step three assuming you knew step two. Well, I didn't know step two so they were useless to me. Being 71 years old, I love a challenge with the proper help.
Oh my gosh! I listened through your struggles. Things are not as easy to do and I’m surprised you didn’t throw the vacuum across the room. You made me laugh for 5 minutes straight. I have that same dc14 and I did learn what to do! I had a blast!
Thanks!! This vid saved me. I'm not extremely mechanically inclined, but I was totally able to do this with relative ease. Replaced the clutch assembly and new roller brush, along with the tool I spent around 50.00. Was quotes 3 x that amount from a local repair place. Thanks so much!!
@@DillonCleans absolutely! Quick question. I'm waiting on my clutch assembly. Just pretty much do everything in reverse when I get it? Do I install the clutch and put the cover plate on then attach the knob that controls floor and carpet? I assume that kinda just pushes back on?
@@kevinc6763 yes! Do everything you did in reverse and put the knob on last. It should just clip on easily. If it doesn’t go on, you may have installed the clutch wrong. But that’s rare.
Clutch assembly installed, new brush installed. Thanks for everything. I did however lose one of the 3 screws that hold on the clutch cover. Have one screw in the bottom and the top screw is in place. Oh well...the repair wasn't difficult, but definitely a bit involved. Thanks again!
Thank you, so much, for posting this! I never would have been able to replace the clutch on my dc14 without it. I really had a hard time getting that shifter cap off and getting the belt around the roller brush, but, dang it--I did it! Bless you!
Awesome!!! These machines really do last. Mine is from either 2007 or 2009. (There are 2 dates on mine so it’s confusing). This vacuum has held up very well and is now a part of my pretty collection. Very happy to hear that you’re is still running strong. Make sure to replace your clutch every few years. Between 3-6 years or so. Just depends on usage. Once it no longer ray cheats like I demonstrated, that means it’s time for a new one. And brushroll ss should be replaced every 6-10 years again depending on usage. If you need any help with your specific machine I am happy. Otherwise. Please refer back to my videos on the dc14 ( which I have a lot) as many times as you need. Thanks for stopping by!
Good job on the video. Really felt wrong to stretch that big belt so far but it worked. When putting the clutch back in note that there is a thin slot around the clutch near the small belt. Get that lined up with the features on the case and it goes right in. Mine started to jam and I smelled the belt burning so I stopped and pulled it apart. The pulley spindle for the large belt seems to have, sort of, melted a bit, and had lumpy grey stuff around it. I trimmed off some of the lumps and it is operating again. Probably won't last long so I have ordered a new clutch. You made it easy for me. Thanks.
You’re so welcome and I’m glad I could help. Putting in a new clutch isn’t always the easiest job on a vacuum, but that tool makes it so much easier and actually possible. It’s the best $8 you’ll spend on this machine.
Boom! Just fixed the hell out of my DC33. The beater bar wouldn't turn. It's working great now! I can't get the damn hard floor/carpet switch cover back on though. Still trying!
That’s awesome!!! I had that same issue at the end of this video. I fixed it by taking the clutch out and putting it back in again. I know that sucks but it’s something you may have to do. I put mine in at the slightest wrong angle and it messed everything up. So I’m sorry that you’re experiencing that but I hope you get it all fixed and I hope my video taught you a new skill!!
❤ perfect. I never knew they had belts. Hollow sound, no suction, brush not spinning. They arrived in the mail and AGH😮!! How do you get the existing belts off. Thank you, now I know.
Took me an hour to clip the clutch in .Nearly gave up on it.It took me a day to finally get it all done but I took the clutch fully apart to replace both belts. The white spindle was nt too worn. Same probs as you getting the last screw in .A magnetized T15 is needed to get the screw in the hole centrally .Also similar prob with that last job. I would nt recommend trying this job if you re not used to fiddling with stuff as it will drive you crazy . I managed to wrestle the large belt on without the tool but it was a bit brutal .
One note. When working with plastic, always turn your screws backwards slowly till you feel the threads of the screw click, then tighten just till stop, then only 1/8 to 1/4 turn more. Many plastic items are assembled with self cutting screws, if you don't find the original threads in the plastic, your doing yourself and a future tech a disservice.
After stripping my machine as you instructed I find that Dyson Australia stopped making spare parts for the DC07 several years ago. Any idea where I can source drive belts and clutch?
As machines get older such as the 07 and 14 parts do become harder to source. I would highly recommend ebay and Amazon. Just make sure they are designed for your machine and read reviews if you’re buying off of Amazon. But those are generally the places that seem to have the most parts at the best price. There are other wel sites such as parts warehouse and they have tons of parts, but they are usually a little more pricey.
I have a question. I have a DC33 and have 3 motors blow up on me. I’ve noticed that when I move the vacuum back when hoovering it sort of bounces against the pile of the carpet. Could the clutch be causing this issue thus making the motors blow up?
I’m really not too sure why the motors would be failing in a case like this. So it may be happening she to improper maintenance of the filters and brushroll. But I do have an idea. The bouncing affect you’re getting it most likely due to the cleaner head not sitting properly on the floor. There will be a clear or translucent hose that may be improperly seating or worn out. It’s a good idea to replace that anyways on a vacuum of this age. The part is only $9. The other thing I could think of the the baseplate being Improperly seated on the cleaner head, thus resulting in the bouncing affect you are getting. You can also take apart the cleaner head until you get to the clutch assembly and inspect it for any damage that may be causing the motors to blow up. The clutch may be the issue. It’s hard to tell exactly what’s going on without me actually being there, but something surely isn’t going right in the cleaner head area.
13:18 I’m having a big issue with getting the cover off of my Dyson DC14 so I can get to the clutch. I think I can safely say that it’s never been taken off before and despite how easy you make it look, mine just won’t come off. I’m afraid I’m going to break it. It’s most likely an issue with my small motor functions and finger strength not being that great. Is there a way to safely pry it off? That being said, this is a great video with next to perfect instruction as to how to replace the clutch.
If you need to replace clutch/ small belt does it make a LOUD ratcheting sound? I cleaned my vacuum out and it still makes a really loud sound and it doesn’t spin.
This might be the answer to my troubles! My DC33 turns on, but the beater bar does not turn. It’s associated with a terrible burning smell. I broke the beater bar trying to clean out the bearings, so I’m going to try your instruction. It can’t be the motor, right? Since it turns on? Before I go headlong into buying all the necessary replacements and tools for this repair, I’d want to know if it was the motor. Because that’s where I draw the line 😂
I’m sure it’s not the motor. The brushroll won’t turn, that is most likely due to stuff wrapped around the brushroll and bearings. And belts can smell really bad if it’s not spinning. So I’m sure it’s the brushroll. But since you smell burning, that means the clutch has been burning. So you should replace the clutch too. It could just be the small belt on the clutch, but since you have clearly had it for w while, you should just go ahead and replace the whole clutch. Please buy a genuine brushroll off of eBay as that is the cheapest place for a genuine brushroll. Amazon has generic ones for really cheap, but they don’t perform well. But you can buy the clutch on Amazon since it’s a genuine component. Clutch is $28. And brushroll is about $20. I hope this helped!
@@DillonCleans thank you SO MUCH! I will give it a go (clutch off Amazon and genuine brush roll) and let you know how it goes. Appreciate the response :)
This 100% fixed my issue! So glad you posted this video. Replaced the clutch and the beater bar with genuine Dyson parts. With some good parts and a little know-how, I’m able to keep my beloved Dyson for a fraction of the cost to replace it with a new one. Thank you again!
@@KK-hv9bw yay! I am so happy that you haves your old Dyson for more years of service. These steps aren’t that difficult but people just throw away the vacuum. So I am glad that you fixed yours. And you’re totally welcome! This is why I am on TH-cam, to make sure peoples vacuums are the best they can be
I have a Miele vacuum as the best one that I can have; the Dyson has its merit being fairly powerful, but it's a pretty crude design overall in comparison. I liken it to an old muscle car compared to a BMW. Noisy, crude and effective. Holding down the head with your foot while tilting it into position, manual cord wrap, knob switch for carpet or bare floor. Not refined, but it'll do. My Miele runs silently in comparison, adjustable speed, retractable cord mechanism, electric switched brush, under bed capability. It does require a bag though; I like the bagless design of the Dyson, though having the attendant filter maintenance and replacement requirements offsets that.
Great video. I followed it, with all parts. But I'm having a small problem, when I switch the mode to hard wood floors it doesn't spin but it does when I switch to carpet mode. But all genuine Dyson parts. It's a dc14.
On hard floors mode it should not spin to avoid damage to sensitive hard floors. And the brushroll should spin on carpets so it can best the carpet to Posen the dirt and suck it up. From your comment I believe your clutch is working perfectly.
@@Michael-ob1yp haha yes these certainly were expensive. And these were actually the best built Dysons. The newer ones are also great and they clean better than these older ones. But these older ones were built a lot better and will last longer than any newer dyson. Not that the newer Dysons are bad per se. They still last longer than the average vacuum. But man these older Dysons are nearly indestructible. Simple maintenance and replacements along the way and this machine will be good for many more years. But you’ve gotta take care of it!!
I've done this job twice now and even though the clutch seems to work fine outside the Dyson; when I install it doesn't turn. Any ideas why that might be?
@@DillonCleans Thanks Dillon. I think I got it now. I think it was not in the carpet setting and the new brush is somehow faulty when under pressure from the new rubber band. Thanks much for replying; especially so fast. I was going to delete my post but maybe someone else can learn from this too.
There are 2 tabs. One at the top. And the other one you need to go under the machine and get it from below. It can be tricky. But it will come off. Keep trying , just make sure to not break it
Dillon, hellllp! Why is the T15 closest to the front not coming out? It just spins and spins with about 40% resistance but never comes out any further. Not sure what's on the other end. A loose nut? I removed the big knob on the side off already to see if it would help. It didn't. After watching a handful of these same videos I don't see anyone else dealing with my problem. I am so mad. I have a house that's half clean and needs to be finished for a party in 3 days.😢
Don’t worry! Let me try and help. Although this isn’t common, it’s certainly not unheard of. The best advice I can give to you is the try and pull on the piece that needs to come out at the same time as you’re unscrewing it. That should pull the screw out while you unscrew it. The plastic where the screw sits is likely stripped.
This is a great video! Question, do I have to replace whole clutch of roller not spinning? Can I just do the belts? Wondering what I should order?? Or do I have to open it up to see, looking at the white band as you said?? @Dilloncleans
It is indeed possible to replace only the belts, however it isn’t an easy job. I personally would not recommend doing it unless you are very mechanically inclined or like challenges. As for the brushroll not spinning, it’s important to find out why. If it doesn’t spin at all, it’s likely a problem with the brushroll or a broken belt. So find out what condition the belts are in, then we can find out the solution to your problem.
@@eileenkelly6371 okay. That’s a good start. There’s still a chance it could be slightly stretched. But as long as its still making good contact and is somewhat tight, it wouldn’t cause the roller to completely stop
@@DillonCleans I bought the whole clutch. Honestly just hate wasting plastic and hurting the earth but I got whole thing. In taking it out, I saw the wear and tear on the white ring so glad I got it all. Will let you know if I’m successful! Thank you!
@@eileenkelly6371 that sounds great! Let me know how it goes! And replacing the whole clutch really is the way to go. I know know of a few people who can rebuilt a clutch easily. You definitely made the right choice and so happy you’re fixing your vacuum instead of just throwing it away!
I ended up taking the clutch out again and putting it back in. I must have put it in slightly at an angle. A bit annoying, but you need the cover in order for it to work
Sounds like it. Unfortunately, Dyson doesn’t offer a suction relief valve so there isn’t much of a way to solve this. But I do that some ideas. Make sure the brushroll is spinning very well. Replace clutch if needed. But I do have another idea. It may cause a loss in performance but not always. Remove the baseplate, you would see a black seal around where the baseplate would sit on the vacuum. Remove that black seal and put back the baseplate. That should solve your issue. Only do that if it’s really hard to push. It may cause a loss on performance but it’s not likely. If any issues happen, you can always put it back. But removing that seal has solved this issue for many people. So I hope this helps.
@@DillonCleans yeah i saw a vid where they guy removed the gasket thing is this seems to have gotten bad , it hasnt always been so tough, could the brush bar think its in the hard floor position and be making it worse?
I don’t own a dc33. so no I have not. However it does work. The dc04,07,14,and 33 all have the same molding in the plastic of the brush bar housing. I am 100% certain it does work. I hope this helps😊
I have a DC33 and the brush bar will not spin I took it apart and both belts seem alright the small belt it pretty loose. I had the whole bottom off where I caold look at the clutch. And put it in carpet mode and turned it on both belts will spin but if I pull on the larger belt just a little the clutch stopped spinning. You think the clutch is bad or do I just need new belts ?
The belts are worn out for sure. Sounds like your biggest issue is the small belt. The big belt will work ok even if it’s stretched and worn. But my recommendation would be to replace the whole clutch so it will last the longest and give you the best cleaning performance. And so you don’t have to go through the hassle of replacing the small belt. The larger belt can’t be replaced unless you really know what you’re doing. That’s a job that I can’t even master and I’ve worked in vacuums for 10 years.
There were a few steps that were more difficult than led on in the video. In particular, in order of sequence: 1) Getting the brush roller off in the beginning without using the metal removal tool thingy is quite difficult, much more so than led on in the video. Common sense told me to use the metal tool (the one used at the end), I did and made it much easier. 2) Removal of the orange carpet/floors knob was absurdly difficult. The tabs you speak of are not noticeable and it is was extremely difficult and frustrating to finally get it off. 3) Getting the new clutch belt back on the main motor shaft is extremely difficult, way harder than made out in the video, people attempting this be warned - take a little break and few deep breaths before you attempt and get it a little stretched out before you go for the final placement. VERY DIFFICULT! I do appreciate the video, but I felt a little misled on the difficulty level of the steps mention above. R
Thanks for the feedback. I did try and mention that this would not necessarily be an easy task. But I’ve also been doing these repairs for years and have worked on hundreds of vacuums. I apologize for the misleading video but I am glad you got it done.
I installed a brand new clutch assembly with Dyson labeled belts and it still doesn't turn!! The brush bar spins freely. The floor selector toggles between the 2 positions. Yet no spinning brush!
If it spins freely but doesn’t spin when it’s on, make sure it’s in the carpet setting and the vacuum is reclined. The brushroll will not spin if it’s in the upright position
You make it look so easy, but every piece was a struggle to get off. Nothing just wiggled or poped off. I said a lot of bad language and had to take mental breaks.
That’s a little more complicated. That would involve rebuilding the clutch. You can watch videos on that. Not from me however. It’s generally better to replace the whole clutch because changing that belt in very complicated. Unless you are very good with taking things apart and you have the tools to do it. Please don’t take it apart. I hope this helps 😊
@@DillonCleans it's always easy to take things apart when you don't need to put them back in working order though. If you haven't discarded the old clutch already, that would make for a good video. I'd like to see the inner workings of it but don't have an old one to try.
@@dubmob151 I can certainly make a video on this! I have the old clutch still lying around and I actually have to rebuild a couple clutches off of some other machines. So stick around on the channel and I will film it. It may tale some time as I am very busy but it will get done. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@dubmob151 certainly replacement parts. Belts and the white wheel as well as the bearings are the main wear points. But after the machine being so old, it may sometimes be worth it to just replace the whole clutch
The brushroll housing can be tricky to take off. Try to slowly push off each corner or try putting something like a flatbread screwdriver between the gray and yellow pieces on the front. It should come off
Hey genius. I didn’t say to change both belts, I said you can change one of the belts. The other belt is not replaceable by a regular consumer as there are a lot of parts to it. And I did mention at 7:54 that it is worth it to replace the whole clutch because even if you replaced both belts, that white wheel inside is still worn down, which it shouldn’t be. Rude comments are never appreciated, but if you ever have a question, I’m more than happy to answer.
I actually wouldn’t consider this a difficult vacuum to work on. It’s fairly straightforward. But it’s certainly more difficult than a cheap bissell mainly because cost of manufacturing and quality.
I appreciate seeing someone else struggling, it's refreshing to know I'm not the only one
Yes lol it’s not the easiest repair

Thanks for this video! Just finished replacing the clutch on a dc33 after watching. Completed the whole process in about 10 mins. The hardest part for me was popping off the carpet/bares floor toggle switch. I never would have even attempted it without your vid.
Cheers!
So happy I could help!
This was very helpful. I’m so proud I replaced the clutch with your great instructions
thanks could not have done this without your video.
Thank you! Good job hanging in there. It helped a lot seeing you put on the small belt.
So glad I could help!
Thank you!
I own Dixie Chix Appliance Repair in Lewistown Montana and i was given this vacuum to fix and sell ,this video was very helpful, thank you so much! lol I hit myself in the face all the time 😖🥺
Great video showing a complex operation clearly. Well done
@@marya832 thank you so much! And I’m very impressed that you were able to replace it. Most average people can’t!

So happy I could help out!!
@@kevinc6763 so happy to hear it you it all done! That one screw won’t really make a difference. So as long as the other 2 are secured in you’re fine

Thanks for the tutorial, replaced the clutch and roller, it works very well again!
Thank you, so much, for posting this! I never would have been able to replace the clutch on my dc14 without it. I really had a hard time getting that shifter cap off and getting the belt around the roller brush, but, dang it--I did it! Bless you!
It certainly is a difficult job!! But nothing impossible for sure. Thank you for watching!!
Thanks very informative gave me the confidence to buy belts an fitting made easy Thanks fella 👍
We purchased our DC-14 back in 2005, best vacum we ever owned. I'm now waiting for parts to replace both the brush head and clutch.
Thanks.
So glad I could Help. And thank you for sharing your experience. I hope for Dyson lasts a long long time!
now I know why my brush roller does not spin thank you great walk through and thanks for the link
Thanks for link to the belt replacement tool! This is what I was looking for because the new belt (on the new clutch) is waaay too short to work with.
Now I just need a tool to make it easier to put the clutch belt onto the drive! :)
Thank you kindly. My 20 year old purple animal DC-14 finally hit a wall and I needed a video how to take it apart .
Thank You so much for the very helpful tutorial - I took the brush off to clean but couldn't work out how to get it back on lol!

❤ perfect. I never knew they had belts. Hollow sound, no suction, brush not spinning. They arrived in the mail and AGH😮!! How do you get the existing belts off. Thank you, now I know.
Do happy I could help. And if you ever need further maintenance done on your vacuum, I hope my channel helps immensely
This was so helpful! Thank you 👏🏻❤️

Thanks for the help!
One note. When working with plastic, always turn your screws backwards slowly till you feel the threads of the screw click, then tighten just till stop, then only 1/8 to 1/4 turn more. Many plastic items are assembled with self cutting screws, if you don't find the original threads in the plastic, your doing yourself and a future tech a disservice.
thank you so much this was very helpful
Thank you. It works like new again. 👍
So glad I could help you!
Extremely helpful
After stripping my machine as you instructed I find that Dyson Australia stopped making spare parts for the DC07 several years ago. Any idea where I can source drive belts and clutch?
As machines get older such as the 07 and 14 parts do become harder to source. I would highly recommend ebay and Amazon. Just make sure they are designed for your machine and read reviews if you’re buying off of Amazon. But those are generally the places that seem to have the most parts at the best price. There are other wel sites such as parts warehouse and they have tons of parts, but they are usually a little more pricey.
Again I thank you
@@alanpugh3361 of course! So happy I could help
Thanks you so much, easy walkthrough
I’m glad I could help!!
@@DillonCleans thank you very much for your reply i paid a lot of money for this when it first came out....
Make sure the clutch is in the carpet setting when the McGwire is reclined back. It should work. If not please let me know
@@DillonCleans Thanks Dillon. I think I got it now. I think it was not in the carpet setting and the new brush is somehow faulty when under pressure from the new rubber band. Thanks much for replying; especially so fast. I was going to delete my post but maybe someone else can learn from this too.
Great Video. Thanks!
I can't get the cover over the clutch off I've pryed and seemingly got it free but it's not budging
There are 2 tabs. One at the top. And the other one you need to go under the machine and get it from below. It can be tricky. But it will come off. Keep trying , just make sure to not break it
Great Video but does the new clutch come with the belts already on it or do I have to install them which could be a pain?? Thanks again
New clutch has new belts!!
Great job, thanks a ton!
Perfect video thanks you
Where do you get those two tools at.
Very helpful. Thanks.
@@DillonCleans I’m
Opening it up now. The bottom belt around the roller seems fine…
@@eileenkelly6371 okay. That’s a good start. There’s still a chance it could be slightly stretched. But as long as its still making good contact and is somewhat tight, it wouldn’t cause the roller to completely stop

Ahhh, that yellow clutch cap. I can't seem to get that piece to go on.
I ended up taking the clutch out again and putting it back in. I must have put it in slightly at an angle. A bit annoying, but you need the cover in order for it to work
our dc07 seems super hard to push/pull? any ideas ...its like the brush bar is digging in too deep ?
@@steveo3002 possibly. Make sure the brushroll is on and spinning well. The sting brushroll can help propel it forward
Dillon, when I look for a belt lifter they never list that it works with the DC33 model, have you used this belt lifter on a DC 33
I don’t own a dc33. so no I have not. However it does work. The dc04,07,14,and 33 all have the same molding in the plastic of the brush bar housing. I am 100% certain it does work. I hope this helps😊
@@DillonCleans so is that a typo saying it doesn't work?
@@dubmob151 yes it is!! So sorry. I fixed it. Thank you!
@@DillonCleans Thanks I think thats the route I will take thank you for the help.
There were a few steps that were more difficult than led on in the video. In particular, in order of sequence:
1) Getting the brush roller off in the beginning without using the metal removal tool thingy is quite difficult, much more so than led on in the video.
How do you change the belt that’s in the clutch though?
What was the tork number screw
T15 🙂
Hi. Is there a link for long screwdriver pls

That’s a little more complicated. That would involve rebuilding the clutch. You can watch videos on that. Not from me however. Hey genius, if you’re gonna change both belts, how bout showing how you replace the second one. The wide one.
Why do they make Dysons so hard to work on??
I actually wouldn’t consider this a difficult vacuum to work on. It’s fairly straightforward. But it’s certainly more difficult than a cheap bissell mainly because cost of manufacturing and quality.
