Mona Simpsons shot Mr Burns. Mona Simpsons was once accused for attempted murder of Mr Burns. She keeps a eye on Springfield and her worst enemy Mr Burns. She knows those hippie people and they must had told her about Mr Burns. She came back to stop Mr Burns like what she had done in the past. Mona is a hippie and was trying to stop his oil mining and the doom shield that was blocking the sun.
I just watched this scene again and noticed after Marge says "everyone in town's a suspect" there's a pan of people's close-up faces, and every character is drawn with their normal amount of detail, besides Krusty. Barney, Moe and Willie all still have wrinkles under their eyes. When Chief Wiggum says "It's a mask!", Krusty-Homer is standing directly behind him.
Since you encouraged us to share more crazy fan theories, here's mine: Mr. Burns was actually shot by... Chief Wiggum! (I know I'm not the first person who has thought of this, but I have more.) The simplest explanation to why Burns would accuse Maggie instead of naming the real shooter is that the shooter had already visited Burns in the hospital and negotiated a secret deal with him. So the shooter is either someone who was seen visiting Burns' hospital room alone after Burns recovered (Dr Nick, Homer) or someone who could have an unrestricted access there (members of the police force or the hospital staff). From these people, Chief Wiggum is the only one who could offer something so valuable to Burns that Burns would have a reason to accept the deal and let the person who shot him walk free. Burns commits a lot of crimes himself (and would probably commit more if there wasn't a risk of getting caught), so having the police chief permanently in his pocket would be extremely beneficial for him. The obvious advantage of the Wiggum theory is that we can ignore all the forensic evidence such as the Simpson DNA because Wiggum could have simply planted them during his "investigation" to protect himself. Also, a lot of Wiggum's actions in the story get new levels of hidden brilliance. Here's how I think it went: Part 1 After the town hall meeting Wiggum realises that Burns doesn't have a license for his new gun (as a slow person Wiggum gets this when Burns has already left the building). Wiggum goes after Burns to confiscate the gun. He enjoys the opportunity to use his authority to humiliate the most hated person in town, explaining Burns' "What are you so happy about?" line. Wiggum is so clumsy in handling guns that he accidentally shoots Burns while trying to grab the gun from him. Although it was just an accident, Wiggum still needs to cover it up to make sure his incompetency won't cost him his job. To get rid of the gun quickly he tosses it to the nearest parked car through the open window and notices Maggie with a lollipop. Perhaps Maggie drops her lollipop while trying to pick up the gun so they both end up under the seat. After Burns has collapsed on the sundial, Wiggum does the "It's a mask!" thing to make sure Burns is unconscious. The letters W and S could stand for "Wiggum [is] Shooter". Part 2 Wiggum gradually improvises a plan while pretending to investigate the shooting. He first tries to frame Smithers as the shooter, but Smithers turns out to have an alibi. Same thing happens with all the suspects that Lisa suggests. Wiggum realises that the wisest thing is to frame someone who can't possibly have an alibi, the only other person who actually was there - Maggie. Better yet, as a baby she can't tell her own version of what happened (or remember it afterwards when she grows up), and she can't be charged so there won't be any trial either. When supposedly interrogating Maggie and Santa's Little Helper as witnesses, Wiggum plucks one of Maggie's eyelashes to plant it later as evidence. The Twin Peaks dream gives him an idea where to plant it, so he pretends to find it on Burns' suit. However the DNA result only narrows the suspects down to the Simpson family. Then Mr. Burns wakes up and says "Homer Simpson". Because of the Simpson DNA it would now look really weird if Wiggum didn't investigate Homer, so he has to. He also has to arrest Homer after his fingerprints are found from the gun (we may assume they got there in the way Lisa describes). Wiggum knows that Burns could get his memory back any moment and tell the truth, so it's more urgent for Wiggum to get to the hospital to have a private conversation with Burns than to interrogate Homer. Wiggum purposely causes an accident at the Krusty Burger drive-through so that Homer gets a chance to escape while Wiggum hurts his arm (or pretends to hurt it) and is taken to the hospital as a patient. While the whole police force (and the town in general) is busy chasing Homer, Wiggum sneaks to Burns' room. They make a deal that Burns will identify Maggie as the shooter in exchange for Wiggum's services. The fight over the lollipop could be either Wiggum's or Burns' idea (or it really happened but was irrelevant). Wiggum can't be sure whether Burns will keep his promise, so when Homer attacks Burns, Wiggum intentionally lets Homer to grab his gun in the hope that Homer would shoot Burns dead. It doesn't happen, but Burns keeps his end of the deal anyway and tells the Maggie story. After this Burns can be a lot more shameless in his crimes because he knows that the Springfield police won't ever act against him. This explains why Burns tries to assassinate Abe Simpson in broad daylight in the later Flying Hellfish episode without having any consequences. (Sorry for the long post. I put way too much thought into this.)
@@TheRealJims Thanks again! This would obviously be really frustrating as the official solution because Wiggum contributes so little to the first part but it makes a pretty fun fan theory because of his heavy involvement in the second part. So many things can get completely different meaning if the main investigator is dishonest. I also noticed that when Smithers announces the reward in front of tv cameras Wiggum has his arm in a sling and bandages on his head, but when the crowd slightly later rushes to the hospital his bandages are all gone and he acts as if he wasn't really injured. Continuity error or a hidden clue?
I've said it almost every time, human memory is deeply flawed. If after a trauma that clearly induced some level of brain damage (only saying Homer Simpson) he only remembered Maggie was there and his brain piced together the fragments
Probably. He most likely rewatched the episode specifically to get all the facts right. This is not the only time he did this with this miniseries either. Marge Gets a Job led into the Marge theory.
There is something crucial that supports Homer Theory... and that is in my opinion something most other explanations fails to cover, except for the Maggie explanations. That is the fact that Homer tries to kill Burns again. I mean.... Burns survived the shooting. But he was still an asshole, the town was still pissed, Santa's little helper was still injured, the school was still indebted.... every character who wanted him dead still had their motivations for wanting him dead, and now he was more vulnerable than ever. But nobody went to th hospital to finish the job. Is excusable for Maggie, being just a baby, and despite some ambiguous expressions in the end, it was still kind of an accident. But if it was Abe, then why not finish the job? If it was Lisa, why not finish the job? If it was Bart, why not finish the job? Well, Homer went there to finish the job. He was going to kill Mr. Burns, and for the exact same reason as before, he was still angry about the name thing, his rage didn't go away. That's what I expect for the shooter, to not loose their motivation overnight when Burns was still alive and the problem was still going.
Honestly the idea of Mr Burns only remembering Homers name (and who he is) while hes in costume is nothing short of hysterical. I seriously wish there was a scene where Homer was dressed as Krusty or something where Mr Burns just casually says hello to Homer.
I am glad to watch everything you put out, it’s been very entertaining sir. Also a difference between homer and krusty you missed is that their mouths are different. Krusty has an extra circle hump at the ends of his mouth. At 3:43 the nose, eye wrinkles, and how homers mouth is drawn are the dead giveaways.
I was wondering that too, but on top of that, wondering: how could the plan be executed in a way that whoever pulled the trigger timed everything right? The main thing would be avoiding Marge, who was in the parking lot twice
*Gasps* The condom dispenser! It's so perfect! It distracts the audience's attention in the Who REALLY Shot Mr. Burns Finale by being a sight gag, and the deed mocks Mr. Burns because he is "as impotent as a Nevada boxing commission." Now what kind of condoms would pack enough of a wollop to force Maggie's hands?...
Mr. Burns confused Maggie with "Krusty." Both had blue bow ties (Krusty --> neck, Maggie --> hair). Both had red circles on them (Krusty --> nose, Maggie --> pacifier). Mr. Burns is blind, saw colors and shapes, and that is why this theory works.
Mr. TheRealJims, this series has been a fantastic exploration of possibilities within the realm of an already concrete canon. You have changed my mind from 'Maggie did it' to 'Maggie did it...or did she?' That is a hard task. This episode had a profound impact on me as a child. So profound, that in fact, I am deathly afraid of sundials. But if you need material for a new Simpsons mystery, I humbly present to you this lore breaking discovery. In episode 2F09, when Itchy plays Scratchy's skeleton like a xylophone, he strikes the same rib in succession, yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we to believe, that this is a magic xylophone, or something? Ha ha, boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.
@@SonofMrPeanut Not only that, but the reason why the revolver was in the car could have just been that it went flying when Burns fell down, with it landing on the car while Burns got up and struggled out of the parking lot.
Very very very interesting. I have no noticed the krusty character design differences at the end. I am definitely going to re-watch it. I had different explanation for homer shooting burns a few years ago. - Burns recognizes homer but cannot remember his name, - "oh its you" is him referring to Homer but cannot remember his name - When he wakes up from the coma, all he can remember is the bizzare rantings of the unidentified assailant who attacked him in his office - He pins it on maggie as revenge bobo - or perhaps as in hope that police lock up maggie and its like some bizzare twist on the "do it for her" I think the only weakness of your narrative is Burns wanting blackmail krusty. Within the same season burns has already bribed krusty in a way that MOVED HIM TO A BIG HOUSE! As ever keep up the amazing work!
I can't believe I missed this one. The earlier ones are what got me into this channel in the first place. The Homer argument was flawless. Really well put together :)
I think the "I had a damn good reason" line is protesting his innocence. Lisa says it's some lunatic who does it for no reason, everyone looks at him, Homer says he couldn't have done it because he DID have a reason.
To me, a key question we need to ask is "What does Mr. Burns get out of accusing Maggie if he doesn't think that she shot him?" I don't think he has anything to gain, but it does hurt some people: Homer and Marge. Burns has had a mixed history with Marge, both positive and negative, but his interactions with Homer have been almost exclusively negative. In Burns "Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk", Burns declares a slow vengeance on Homer, and in "And Maggie Makes Three", it is shown that Homer keeps all of the photos of Maggie in his office at work, to motivate him to keep working there. Both Burns and Smithers has been in and out of that office countless times in the series, so they would know both who Maggie is and how Homer feels about her. I believe that Burns is deliberately harnessing Homer by pretending to forget his name as a small form of petty revenge, choose to accuse Maggie to complete his revenge on Homer. What would be worse for Homer than to continually suffer Burns' petty harassment at the power plant while the person he is doing it for is in jail because of something Homer did? Even if Homer decides to confess, he still has to goto jail, and Burns can claim he was confused due the coma, so Burns loses nothing either way. A prefect scheme for a supervillain.
Just rewatched all these videos and I’ve got to say they are incredibly fun theories! For me I would rank the suspects from best to worst as Marge, Grandpa, Lisa, Bart and Homer I would say is the least plausible but honestly they’re all enjoyable thought experiments. Surprised Santa’s Little Helper didn’t get a video though
It should also be mentioned that Homer is the one simpson with the most animosity toward Burns. Even before it was revealed, he was responsible for him losing his mother. Burns is just a bad boss Burns has also tried to take away his wife and son from him, so I think there's more to Homer's motivation than just Burns not remembering his name
That's really interesting how they drew krusty like homer at that part. Very bizarre, how they seem to be consistent with separating them most of the time. One problem however, is that Ned Flanders is standing next to homer at the time. Remember, ned is the only person in town who DID easily recognise homer in the krusty makeup, and so likely wouldve seen through the disguise in this episode too, especially since he's standing so close.
Personally, I still think it could be anyone. Hear me out. In the official version, the simpson dna got there from Mr. Burns fighting with Maggie for the Candy. That remains the same in every version suggested. With that in mind, Burns could have been shot by anyone and still gotten the Maggie dna on his coat. The reason why he would cover varies, but there is also the possibility that Maggie was the last person he saw after getting shot, making so in his old age and injured state, he assumed that she was the one at fault.
I've always liked these alternate theories on your Simpsons Mysteries series, and I hope we get more Simpsons Mysteries videos. Great job as always Jim.
Oh wow, I just discovered this series and just watched it all. I used to watch the Simpsons as a kid, not so much as an adult that, you know, understands good writing, and I never realized this episode was so well written. I have to go rewatch it now
I'd pick as my "Who REALLY Shot Mr. Burns?" Larry Burns, his long lost son, because there's this obscure bit of Simpsons ancillary canon that listed Burns as a distant relative of the Simpsons so it's possible Larry's DNA could've come up as Simpsons when sequenced, and he shot him for completely unrelated inheritance and Burns didn't out him cause he's his son
I love Simpsons Mysteries. I hope this isn’t *really* the end of this particular topic in the series. Come on, there’s gotta be more suspects outside the family. What about Flanders??
I have one problem that Bart would’ve never helped Homer dress up as Krusty if he knew he was going to attack Mr. Burns because Krusty is his Idol and he already helped prove his innocence in Krusty gets busted
True but 1. They were planning on making sure Burns was killed and not still alive. And 2. Bart was among the Simpsons at the sundial when Burns collapsed on it so it would at least make sense as to why he was there, whereas Lisa and Grandpa weren't (Before Burns was shot, Marge asked "Where's Homer, and Bart, and Lisa, and Grandpa?" so it makes sense).
To summarize, here's why Mr. Burns accuses Maggie for each alternative solution: Marge: Cover-up Lisa: Disguise Abe: Burns can't talk about the painting fiasco. Bart: Burns respects Bart Homer: Blackmailing Krusty wouldn't benefit Burns.
Ok kinda late to the subject but there's something that bugs me out. Santa's Little Helper was in the car while the shot was happening. He previously was angry at Mr. Burns but when he literally approached Maggie the dog did nothing? No barking, no trying to bite him? What was the dog doing while Maggie "shot" mr. Burns?
Just watched through this 6 part series and really love the detail you went into for each suspect. It's given me a new way of looking at the episodes which I already loved. Of the 6 theories you proposed I actually like the Marge Simpson one the most as I feel the evidence is more interesting to think about and a lot of the evidence in the episode lines up well with it even if visually we don't see as much of the evidence as with characters like homer abe or Bart.
Another small piece of evidence to Krusty really being Homer at the sundial is that the small tuft of hair on the top of his head is sagging, perhaps he ripped a bit off the wig and glued it up top and the glue didn’t have time to properly set because he changed so fast
No joke, I was actually rewatching the Who Really Shot Mr Burns quintology (now sextilogy) only an hour or so before this video was published. Still, though, I can't help but feel as if the real killer might have just slipped through our grasps yet again. Maybe the real culprit is the system Mr Burns grew up in, the economic and cultural landscape that made him into the man he was at the moment of his shooting. Maybe if Mr Burns hadn't been so incentivised to destroy Springfield in the pursuit of the almighty dollar and his own jollies, he wouldn't have been shot. Perhaps, just perhaps, we all, as a society, shot Mr Burns.
Damn, you are absolutely KILLING it lately. My favourite channel. It's so good to see other people who are just as passionate about The Simpsons as myself.
Or Mr. Burns was taking candy from Maggie, Homer saw it, got angry, hit Mr. Burns from the back, Burns tried pulling a gun which then ended up being used against him, burns gets shot, The last thing he remembers is him trying to take Maggie's candy, then he gets dazed from a hit to the back, he very well might not have seen Homer-Crusty rushing him and thought that Maggie was the one who got him
That line where Homer says he shot Mr. Burns has always confused me. That episode has almost zero connection to Who Shot Mr. Burns and that line is just said and never elaborated on it's so weird that it exists but hey I guess it proves this theory.
Those are mysteries i´d like to see... - Has Homer ever had sex with another character (in canon)? (Mindy? Laurleen Lumpkin?) - Has Marge ever had sex with another character (in canon)? (Jacques? Maybe Ruth the neighbour?) - Whatever happened to Utter the German student? - What really made Mona Simpson a runaway? And for simpson stories - Lindsey Nagel - Lu Anne VanHouten - Ms Hoover
The hair from Burns' suit is drawn as black. Marge's hair is blue, all three kids have mysterious skin yellow hair, Abe's hair is grey. Homer is the only simpson with dark hair.

Wiggum gradually improvises a plan while pretending to investigate the shooting.
Nice theory! The Wiggum solution would work well, especially with Burns covering up for the real shooter
Continuity error or a hidden clue?
video when? @@TheRealJims
I've said it almost every time, human memory is deeply flawed. If after a trauma that clearly induced some level of brain damage (only saying Homer Simpson) he only remembered Maggie was there and his brain piced together the fragments
Oh sure, you claim this is the finale, but I bet you'll be back in a year claiming it was Herb Powell or something...
That's right, Mr Burns was actually shot by Homer's cousin who shoots birds at the airport

How can you guys not know that it is Mona Simpsons. Mona Simpsons did it.
Was the Homer the clown video just a setup for this video?
*start simpsons mysteries intro
Probably. He most likely rewatched the episode specifically to get all the facts right.
This is not the only time he did this with this miniseries either. Marge Gets a Job led into the Marge theory.
I really like this sense of continuity between videos
What if the Simpsons DNA was just on the suit from when Homer tried manhandling Burns, and it was someone else entirely?
I was wondering that too, but on top of that, wondering: how could the plan be executed in a way that whoever pulled the trigger timed everything right? The main thing would be avoiding Marge, who was in the parking lot twice
Agree. DNA isnt fool proof
Also he was wrestling with Maggie sitting in the simpsons car, it could have come from the chair or Maggie
So that's why you did Homie the Clown…
Move aside end game. This the real climax of the century.

**shows picture of condom dispenser**
"So if people did get another layer of enjoyment out of Who Shot Mr Burns..."
I see what you did there.
Can't say I expected this. That's a damn good video series you got here in TheRealJims. And damn fine cherry pie.
Mr. Burns confused Maggie with "Krusty."
Both had blue bow ties (Krusty --> neck, Maggie --> hair).
Both had red circles on them (Krusty --> nose, Maggie --> pacifier).
Mr. Burns is blind, saw colors and shapes, and that is why this theory works.
Or he saw Maggie in the car when homer shot him he saw Maggie and rember seeing maggie
Mr. Burns is blind (literally can't see, so uhhh just pick the baby, lol)
Dude, we all know the answer to this one- A Wizard did it!
Well let me ask you a question. Why does a grown man with a shirt that reads "genius at work" spend all of his time watching children's cartoons?
Oh i missed Simpsons Mysteries. How about doing the next one on the Simpsons family tree?
Secret final twist: Mr. Burns shot himself and framed Maggie Simpson.
Because of Bobo...
It makes sense!
I could see Mr. Burns' weak grip leading to an impressively bad misfire. He just ends up blaming the baby to save face.
@@SonofMrPeanut Not only that, but the reason why the revolver was in the car could have just been that it went flying when Burns fell down, with it landing on the car while Burns got up and struggled out of the parking lot.
Final final twist:
He never even got shot.
Very very very interesting. I have no noticed the krusty character design differences at the end. I am definitely going to re-watch it. I had different explanation for homer shooting burns a few years ago.
- Burns recognizes homer but cannot remember his name,
- "oh its you" is him referring to Homer but cannot remember his name
- When he wakes up from the coma, all he can remember is the bizzare rantings of the unidentified assailant who attacked him in his office
- He pins it on maggie as revenge bobo
- or perhaps as in hope that police lock up maggie and its like some bizzare twist on the "do it for her"
I think the only weakness of your narrative is Burns wanting blackmail krusty. Within the same season burns has already bribed krusty in a way that MOVED HIM TO A BIG HOUSE!
As ever keep up the amazing work!
The cliffhanger of this season finale bugged me that whole summer
Disobedient One who shot mr burns?
I can't believe I missed this one. The earlier ones are what got me into this channel in the first place.
The Homer argument was flawless. Really well put together :)
dude you are literally my favourite channel on youtube and rekindled my interest in this show. I cannot overstate how much I love these videos.
At the burns’ suit part I was half-expecting/hoping Lisa’s eyes to turn white and her to let out an extended, ungodly scream.

Dude wtf
Are you alright?
Watching/reading too many Creepypastas there?
No, lol I was referencing the part that happens later in the actual scene they’re parodying from Twin Peaks.

*Your Heads*
I think the "I had a damn good reason" line is protesting his innocence. Lisa says it's some lunatic who does it for no reason, everyone looks at him, Homer says he couldn't have done it because he DID have a reason.
These are my favorite of the Mystery videos! Especially since you made a great case for Marge being the shooter! Keep up the great work Jim!
I was just watching part 1 a few hours ago. Thank you, I love Simpsons mysteries.
That TH-cam series you like is coming back in style
Ok. Wasn’t expecting a Krusty theory but damn does it work!!!
It should also be mentioned that Homer is the one simpson with the most animosity toward Burns. Even before it was revealed, he was responsible for him losing his mother. Burns is just a bad boss
Burns has also tried to take away his wife and son from him, so I think there's more to Homer's motivation than just Burns not remembering his name
1:04 Was that a hand? Strange, I always pictured you as a bodyless voice.
Honestly these videos are great for thinking about mystery stories as a whole, I can say I've learned alot and was greatly entertained along the way.
A 20 minute Real Jim’s video? Now this does put a smile on my face...
Woah
well, what if Ned didnt think much about it? specially when somebody just got shot
Flanders is clearly Homer's accomplice - just look at their knowing side-eyes :P
I love Jims vids makes my day better seeing one pop up
Personally, I still think it could be anyone.
I still stand by the theory that it was the ghost of Superdude that shot Burns.
That's right, Mr. Burns was actually shot by his tailor.
I think his doctor shot him.
Burns’ suit... it all makes sense now.
You guessed it, Frank Stallone!
Alternatively, the sun-dial clue might be a hint to the start time of the Krusty show. Which he should know from Bart's time as his heir
When I read "That's right", my mind immediately filled in "I'm a surgeon!"
I've always liked these alternate theories on your Simpsons Mysteries series, and I hope we get more Simpsons Mysteries videos. Great job as always Jim.
Gotta wait til my lunch break but I can't wait to watch! Thanks for what I know will be an awesome video Jims! !
Burns?" Larry Burns, his long lost son, because there's this obscure bit of Simpsons ancillary canon that listed Burns as a distant relative of the Simpsons so it's possible Larry's DNA could've come up as Simpsons when sequenced, and he shot him for completely unrelated inheritance and Burns didn't out him cause he's his son
love that subtle finding dory at 0:13. nice foreshadowing.
Was hoping people would notice that, no one had called it out at the time, lol

I love Simpsons Mysteries. I hope this isn’t *really* the end of this particular topic in the series. Come on, there’s gotta be more suspects outside the family. What about Flanders??
I think Flanders is Homer's accomplice - just look at their knowing side-eyes at each other :P
@@haydenmcqueenie8987 you might be on to something there… *cough* @TheRealJims *cough*
Been following this series for years and very content with the solution, looking forward to your next videos always
Damn fine video, man!
You are the greatest Simpsons fan, thanks for doing all these videos!
To summarize, here's why Mr. Burns accuses Maggie for each alternative solution:
Marge: Cover-up
Lisa: Disguise
Abe: Burns can't talk about the painting fiasco.
Bart: Burns respects Bart
Homer: Blackmailing Krusty wouldn't benefit Burns.
If I had to rank them from strongest explanation to weakest, I'd say Abe, Lisa, Homer, Marge, Bart
Cheers TRJ, thanks for the fun theories!
Burns?
Yo, this is actually a good question, to be honest now I'm curious myself
I’ve been waiting so long for this day to arrive
Just watched through this 6 part series and really love the detail you went into for each suspect. It's given me a new way of looking at the episodes which I already loved. Of the 6 theories you proposed I actually like the Marge Simpson one the most as I feel the evidence is more interesting to think about and a lot of the evidence in the episode lines up well with it even if visually we don't see as much of the evidence as with characters like homer abe or Bart.
You forgot to mention that in the shot with the Homer-looking Krusty his top tuft looks kinda lopsided as if its actually a toupee
Can't wait for another post finale episode this year.
Hmm, is that what the Rolling Stones meant with their line about the Kennedys?
I wasn't born when Mr Burns was shot, can I please be absolved of blame?
@Disobedient One Well, that's something to look forward to at least. Or...backward to?

Or Mr. Burns was taking candy from Maggie, Homer saw it, got angry, hit Mr. Burns from the back, Burns tried pulling a gun which then ended up being used against him, burns gets shot,
The last thing he remembers is him trying to take Maggie's candy, then he gets dazed from a hit to the back, he very well might not have seen Homer-Crusty rushing him and thought that Maggie was the one who got him
Thanks for the upload. Gonna watch it tonight after work
That's right, Mr. Burns was actually shot by TheRealJims
In season 18 ep 11 homer says "If i get caught im pinning it on the baby like that time i shot mr burns".
That line where Homer says he shot Mr. Burns has always confused me. That episode has almost zero connection to Who Shot Mr. Burns and that line is just said and never elaborated on it's so weird that it exists but hey I guess it proves this theory.
