    Consumers are becoming numb to these kind of performance numbers and expecting them now from the most basic cars. Just 20 years ago it was unheard of for a production car to run under 3 seconds to 60 mph and do the 1/4 mile in 10 seconds. Now if a supercar doesn’t do that it’s just a sports car and not super.

    Question: Why did Ford not keep the flat-plane crankshaft?
    One of the best attributes of the original Voodoo was the 8250 RPM. I would have thought a supercharged, high revving V8 would received more attention from the market.

    • @devinbender8428
      @devinbender8428 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Diego M mostly for the higher cylinder pressure. The super charger will add higher pressure in the engine. Flat cranks like to shake really bad and wear out faster under heavy pressure. Hence why almost all flat plane crank cars are smaller displacement and lower hp 400-500

    Does not share same basic engine with GT350. This is a “cross plane” crank and 350 is “flat plane” crank. At least that’s what the chief engineer-designer told Jay Leno on his recent video.

    • @Zeus-qr7ol
      @Zeus-qr7ol 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is the same block as the GT350, but they use a crossplane crank here and tweaked the internals a little bit to handle boost reliably. They are correct in the sense that it is the GT350 engine with a different crank and revised internals.

    • @rembo183

      Zeus AL - Thanks for that. I purchased a 2019 Bullitt 6 months ago after driving the 2017 GT350. I felt the Bullitt was a nice compromise since I’m not interested in tracking or drag racing at all. As you know the Bullitt is a car with plenty of power and interior looks about the same. The manual transmission works great and I love driving it around town. But I looked at getting the 350 and 500 but felt it was too much money for my ordinary/mundane city driving.

    It's not simply the best handling mustang ever. That wouldn't be much of an achievement. Do not take my word on it... Look up Randy Pobst driving the GT500 and the 911 GT3 RS in a matchup. What you will see is proof Ford wasn't lying when they claimed they were benchmarking the new GT500 with the 911 GT3 RS. The track times were 1:55:72 to 1:55:57. That is awfully close for a Mustang.

    Easy choice. Conpairing the pricing for the GT350R to the Base GT500. They both have similar prices. The GT500 is an easy choice. You're getting the best of both worlds. A car you can take to the strip and then over to the track that afternoon. The GT350 & "R" are great Mustangs, but if you're wanting a complete multi purpose Mustang. The GT500 gives you that. A few simply mods and a set of drag radials and your closing in on the 9s. The GT350 needs power adders to get there. Also. Every body wants a manual transmission. The problem is most are not very good at rowing gears. At my local NHRA strip. Automatic Mustang GTs own the manual cars. Missed gears, sloppy launches. Listening to the DCT shift. It's a monster like the GT500 it's in.

      At its' core, the Mustang is a pony car. It's not supposed to have an interior like a BMW or Mercedes.

      @@MrSamwiseable yea if they wanted to, they could slap their Lincoln Aviator interior in here. 😑

      Sam RN Idc about bmw Mercedes or range rovers. We’re talking about this ridiculously over priced (much higher than a bmw) ridiculously overly powered, no traction having, American crap. They
      Didn’t put 2 cares into the interior because they want it to be as cheap As possible to make profit. It’s disgusting

      @@jimmydean2750 yea, but no one said its crap but you. Nobody said the interior is crap but you and nobody and I mean nobody complains about being overpowered. Also nobody complained about it having no traction. Cobra terminators held its value with lower mileage ones fetching more than 10k for a 16 yr old car. Every gt500 holds its value and this will hold even more value. Don't hate because ford found the right formula for their car. It's no wonder why it's THE MOST SOLD SPORTS CAR EVER!!!

      Wrong! The non track pack is 4200.
      The track pack for 93k is 4050lbs. Only 150lbs more than the Camaro ZL1.
      And the C8 will loose on every race track.

      Devin Bender wait wait! I have not seen that anywhere! But u know what i will research i hope ur right but its still too heavy! Cuz the zl1 1le is still lighter, and your wrong the c8 and 1le will take it ford has yet to beat any chevy
      Product with this gen mustang it has lost against all the camaro variants!

      The c8 is good. But it doesn’t have the power to keep up with the Gt500. Even the C7 GS was slower than the Gt350r on the track. I can’t imagine the C8 being much faster than that.
      Also the Zl1 1le is a good lap car. (3860lbs so 200lbs lighter than the gt500) but it’s a manual. That makes a big difference.
      Zl1 1le
      Leguna Seca 1:34
      VIR 2:46
      The Ring 7:16
      I think for will JUST beat that (1:30, 2:40, 7:08) which is very close to what the Zr1 c7 puts down.

      Didn't the 4,200 lb Mustang GT500 just beat the 3,600 lb Corvette C8 around the track according to Motor Trend.
      For every one Corvette sold Mustang sells seven.

    I can't believe we're still building cars with stupid wasteful engines like this.. Nostalgia is not progressive. All you're doing is keeping the Oil industry alive. I'm buying the Mach E boys see ya at the finish line.
