Yea, otherwise, what’s the point? I hope he’ll act like you’d expect someone to act in the situation and that they won’t force him to be too much like the original. But my #1 rule of comics is if it’s cool it’s cool. As long as the story is good, I’ll read it.
This Supes would be carrying a lot more hurt losing his family, friends, planet having grown up on Krypton vs prime Supes at least never knowing what was lost arriving on earth as a baby.
Yea, I think he’s going to find a sense of belonging somewhere and that’s what’s going to make him want to help. Also, you made me think of another question. If his parents aren’t elites, how’d they get him off Krypton? The more I think about it, the more excited I get!
This was Darkseid whole point. Let's see how "good" he is after taking away all the advantages prime Superman had. Same for Batman and Diana.@WhatsUpWOLF
If they were going to adapt Lex Luthor. I believe he will still be an antagonist, but I'm sure he would have ice powers and be super rich. If Superman's powers is based on fire, then a battle of Fire and Ice would be very unique
I was skeptical about the Absolute verse as a whole up until I read Absolute Batman. Im fully on board now. Batman and Alfred start off at odds. We now know Lois is after Superman. Makes me wonder what the Wonder Woman/ Steve Trevor dynamic will be, or if there will even be one 🤔
Stumbled across this and have subscribed! I appreciated your perspective on the absolute lines, as well as appreciating meaning in a comic without it being heavy handed or divisive. Good video!
On my last video about Absolute Superman, someone mentioned that he'd be perfect with the animal-based Illuminati that was mentioned in Absolute Batman #1. Based on what I've seen so far, I'm not sure where he'd fit though.
The biggest differences that seem to be pretty certain are that the cape can disappear and, at least in the beginning, he doesn’t have as much control over his powers so his heat vision is more explosive.
These new takes in Absolute Universe remind me of Marvel Ultimates or does anyone recall New Universe from Marvel? There's a similarity and this new Superman also has a similar look to Sentry. But he welds some interesting powers so it's believed very strongly centred on his other self days as Superman Red And Blue. Here's a thought we know this universe has at it's centre Darkside but is he the only figure lurking there is something else behind the formations of the universe other than Darkside and will a god face another god in the form of Doctor M from the Watchmen. This Absolute Crisis Of Tomorrow is odd but sometimes something happens to set up a new Crisis. Crisis Infinity Absolute Watchmen and DCU crossover and in the ultimate end a new DCU Multiverse opens at it centre is Superman and Kingdom Come 00?
I hope they’ll any big shared universe or crossover stuff for a ways down the line. These stories have a lot of potential and I don’t want them to step on them with a bunch of crossover events before they e even established the characters in their own rights. I think it would be ideal if they could go at least a couple years before the Absolute team up against the international group of supervillains. Then have a crossover a while after that. I wonder if there’d be an Absolute Dr. Manhattan?
There is no such character as Lara El. Her name is Lara LorVan. She has NEVER been referred to as Lara El. Taking your husband's last name doesn't happen on Krypton....
Well, that’s assuming Kryptonian customs are the same in the Absolute Universe. Social and class dynamics on Absolute Krypton are different. Maybe Lara decided to take her husband’s name as a sign of unity against the oppressive system they're living under. 😜
I’m beginning to think that in this absolute universe, if Superman came into Earth as a full grown Kryptonian adult, never raised by the Kents, then my best bet is that the Kents in this new universe found Kara as a baby instead and they are blessed to have a Clark Kent of their own. Soooo, both Absolute Superman and Clark Kent are two separate characters and they’re not doing the secret identity dichotomy.
That would be interesting. I wonder if the Absolute Universe and Darkseid’s influence would land her somewhere difficult too. Seems like this universe is bad news for all the good guys (and gals).
I believe that you’re spot on in your assessment. I am still here for the read, but it doesn’t give me much hope for the line. Social injustice topics just doesn’t make for compelling comic book story telling. Bruce is well studied and has his mother, so why exactly does he become a diesel boss Batman? He could have just as easily become a police officer or a lawyer. And so now we have Superman from the working class. How exactly is news reporting not part of the working class? See things like this show the authors biases and prejudices and just makes it not fun. Especially considering when they’re writing commercial products for multi billion dollar conglomerates that take full advantage of what they’re on their podium in opposition to. They just look like hypocrites and they make the characters look inept in understanding how the world works and their place in it. Why isn’t Superman doing something to create opportunities for people instead of just flying around and punching people? See? It just gets stupid really quick. And very boring.
I think the idea of making the billionaire not a billionaire is interesting, but not making him an orphan seems like a mistake for the reasons you mentioned. Changing Superman’s parents seems unnecessarily, but I assume it’s because they want him to parallel working class immigrants in America. I just hope they’re not clumsy and heavy handed with it. Overall, Absolute Batman #1 was a fun comic, so hopefully they’ll all at least be enjoyable. Although I do think we’ll have to suspend our disbelief a bit more (and not just about the usual stuff like a man flying 😂😂)
@@WhatsUpWOLF Yes, I agree with you as well. I don’t mind seeing these characters have to struggle to become who they are or as they are. Everyone loves the hero’s journey, so that’s why I am in. I definitely want the books to be good and I am here for the ride. So, my apologies if the first post came off as negative, just had to voice my concerns in response to what you hit upon in the video. I am an over thinker too. I know that I am giving this new line a fair chance in fact I think I want it to succeed more than the people working on them currently. I just hope their approach is more in line with “something old, something new, something borrowed…nothing boring always cool” 😅
@@ComicBookMuscle sometimes negativity is part of the overthinking process 😁 I feel the exact same way. But important thing is we’re giving it a chance which is more than a lot of people do.
While I like these recent stories, I too have that fear of these getting too preachy, I just want to get these good messages with some subtlety. I think people would have a lot of an easier time agreeing or accepting the message if it’s presented as a conclusion you can draw yourself instead of being force-fed into it.
I say this, let him be his own Superman. I don’t want a 1-1 copy of the main universe, I want something new.

Peacemakers as a unit of mercenaries are awesome ideas.

I'm so curious to see what this Supes "missing advantage" is.

I was going to watch your video, but you are too quiet to hear without turning my volume up which makes commercials loud.
Thanks for letting me know. I might have chosen the wrong sound profile when I exported. I'll have to double check next time.
He has different powers? That cape looks cool

He will meet this Universes version of the Kents.
Yea, but they won’t raise him. They might not even like him. Might be anti-immigrant xenophobes who hate his guts 😬
Its starting to feel like the Edgelord universe...
@@LordFoxxyFoxington surprisingly, Absolute Batman #1 wasn’t like that at all. Hopefully Superman isn’t 🤞
