    Shot all the manufacturer flagship bows and purchased a Ventum 33. After two months of shooting, I have zero “buyer’s remorse”. The binary cam system is a game changer for Hoyt.

      BBE TEK Hybrid 3 pin. I like using a movable sight to dial to longer distances. There are other good movable sights on the market as well. It’s strictly user preference.

    Almost all manufacturers set their center shot 13/16ths from the riser over to the center of your arrow shaft. After that adjust for your torque.

    Question … I have the same set up. On the rest everything is set to 0. I set an arrow on the string and look down , the tip is leaning out towards the left. But, it’s a rack driver. Help me understand plz

    • @travisglassman
      @travisglassman  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Things look different at full draw. The arrow path leaving the bow can be very much perfect and inline, even though it looks off at rest. As long as your broadheads are hitting with your field points at distance, you should be tuned up good.

  • @MasterofNone365
    @MasterofNone365 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video man. I have the same bow in black. Quick question, when you're aiming in at full draw, do you actually see the entire housing of your sight? On my bow and some others that I've seen on forums, the right 1/4 to 1/3 of the sight is blocked by the riser. Are you encountering this?

    • @travisglassman
      @travisglassman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It all depends on how your cams are shimmed. I had to swap shims around to get my center shot where I wanted it. You may want to consider getting your cams spaced properly and then you should be able to move your sight away from your riser.

    • @travisglassman
      @travisglassman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the compliment. The weight is about right for me. I prefer a little more weight for shooting in the wind. I just wouldn’t recommend adding a bunch of stabilizer weight. It’s not needed.

  • @bravefastrabbit770
    @bravefastrabbit770 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Man regarding the shimming, where do you get the "spacers" used? Highly doubt I'll be as lucky as you n just have to swap the order.
    I'm considering purchasing a ventum pro 33 to have alongside my v3x 29. I have a press, draw board, scale everything I need basically at home, and live in a 3rd world shithole where the closest shop is 4h away and the dude working there SUCKS.
    So tuning on my own is given.
    But idk how to go about the shimming process really. When buying it off a website (you can purchase hunting bows online in europe, the manufacturers let u do that because it isn't as widespread here) they probably wont include it, at least the mathews didn't come with any tophats.

    • @travisglassman
      @travisglassman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think you’ll have any issues on the Ventum Pro. They made slight modifications to the alignment of the cams and it mitigated most shimming. If you need shims, I’d recommend emailing Hoyt and explaining your situation. Best of luck!

  • @Cooldibs
    @Cooldibs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How do you know whether you should shim the cams vs just moving the arrow rest left and right?

    • @travisglassman
      @travisglassman  ปีที่แล้ว

      I always shoot for setting my center shot where the arrow is about 7/8" from the riser, so I get the desired vane clearance. If you have to move the rest drastically left or right in order to obtain a good center shot tune, you will need to shim the cams in order to get your arrow back to that 7/8" from the riser. Sometimes swapping the shims will do the trick if it's moving them in the right direction. Otherwise a pro shop will need to provide you the correct shims to get things in line.

  • @stevefoshee3859

    Thanks for the detailed info, Travis. Im struggling with my Ventum 33, setup by a local shop. I think I have two problems. At full draw, I have to slightly rotate the riser clockwise (righthanded bow) in order to "square" the upper cam with the arrow. Is that expected? Also...the center of my arrow is exactly 5/8" off the riser. With the odd vane up, the lower right vane is contacting the cable. I have a drop-away rest so i rotated the nock to an odd vane out which improved it a little...but I'm still not getting consistent flight. I may be getting slight contact in a couple other places, it's hard to tell. I think that if the cam shims were swapped to move the cams away from the riser, both problems would be solved. The shop says it's me, lol....and maybe it is...but I'd like your take. It shoots perfectly through paper, lol....and that seems to be the only thing my shop cares about. Look...it still shoots great...but the grouping just isn't what I'd expect.

    • @travisglassman
      @travisglassman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend shimmiing the cams to the left slightly. That will get your arrow away from the riser slightly. Then at that point, I would recommend paper tuning and then moving to a bare shaft tune to get things shooting correctly.

      Yes. I’d say you need to move your rest away from your riser or shim cams away from riser to get the proper sight picture. Are you shooting a bullet hole through paper? If so, what’s the measurement from the riser to the center of the arrow?

    Wouldn't you want to move your rest towards your bareshaft?

    • @travisglassman
      @travisglassman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You want to move the rest the direction the point of the bare shaft needs to go. If the bare shaft is wandering left, you would want to move the rest to the right so the tip stays behind the string during launch.
