    When I first went to Shanghai in 2007..it was pretty run down and old ...went back again in 2016 and fascinated by the massive improvements. Looking at the street scenes and the surrounding infrastructures , very very impressed. Keep improving china, make your haters tear their hair out.

    I'm male and Chinese living in US. I just ordered dinner on Uber Eats. The food was $70, but the non-food related fees were $20 (including services fee, tips & misc.). That's why I cook more than order delivery. I found cooking becomes interesting if you treat it as high school chemistry experiment.

    I remember when I was doing my internship back in 2018 in Shanghai, it took usually around 15~25 RMB for lunch, even though the listing price on the menu is about twice what I paid, there was always a crazy amount of coupons available. and if you ordered from the same restaurant as your colleagues you can even save more on the delivery fee.

      Cooking Chinese food in China will be cheaper than ordering takeaway if you cook it often, but it will be more expensive than takeaway if you cook it occasionally, because there are more varieties of ingredients in Chinese food, and if you cook occasionally, the cost of repurchasing all ingredients will be higher

    • @omegabulldog5001
      @omegabulldog5001 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll say it should be up to circumstances and situations. IF both husband and wife are working then requiring either one to cook may not be such a good idea nor is it fair unless that person is willing. IF one of the partner is a stay at home mom/dad then cooking can be an option although skill levels will differ so don't expect a 5 star cuisine from your man/woman at the get go.

    • @liliachan3753
      @liliachan3753 ปีที่แล้ว

      Her Chinese is great! But to claim that is better than natives? I think you are not realizing that most natives have a regional dialect so they tend to speak mandarin with an accent. It doesn’t make them wrong or not fluent, it’s just an accent. For example, American English, to British English or Australian English. Heck even in the USA there is American southern accent.

    It looks like catering is a huge business in Shanghai. As a first generation Chinese American, I still cook at least once every day. After COVID19 pandemic, I even cook at work instead of going to the university cafeteria. Our lounge/reception room has a full kitchen and two large refrigerators. My three kids were all born and raised in the U.S., I taught them basic cooking skills before sending them to college. Restaurant food taste better, but the raw material is not as good as that at home. It also cost more to eat out every day.

    • @lFurinl
      @lFurinl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s because the app for take out is just so convenient in China. It’s also cheap. When I was there last year, almost every day I used those app. Though I tried to cook stir fried veggies once in a while (since the restaurant sometimes was just too oily). I could even buy cut fruits from my local fruit store. It was too convenient, adding up it was cold outside 😂. Well, I’m back to my country but here, the restaurant takeaway is also as convenient as China, I think I have more than 200 restaurants/shops (even more) within 500 meters perimeter with the food/drink as cheap as $2 even with added delivery fee…

      The cost of living in Singapore in terms of housing is higher than those at LA and most people here earn 1,000 - 2,000 USD a month.
      So when you say not high enough, I would need to understand your definition of what's enough.

      @@Averagebum21 84k a year is definitely enough to get by. Most New Yorkers are not making 84k a year.
      Only 30% of the young population (40 y.o. and younger) earn that much in NYC.
      A large number people in NYC are earning less than $40k. Obviously there are a lot more people earning a lot more in a city like NYC, but I was surviving in NYC living on like $30k like 5 years ago and most people I knew were earning around that little.
      That's not to say most people earn that little in NYC, but thinking $80k is a bad salary is some crazy rich people shit. Most New Yorkers would love to be earning $80k.

    可能因為烹飪算是我的愛好,我真的不能理解完全不煮飯的人。有可能因為我在紐約生活,覺得要是每一頓飯在外面吃或者叫外賣,消費會超級高,而且在外面吃不一定好吃,也不一定很健康。自己做的話你可以考慮營養價值,自己選新鮮的材料,做了好吃的東西就會有成就感。可能年輕人也沒想到將來要養孩子的時候會怎麼辦。烹飪不只是一種技術,而是文化,含有傳統,內涵,有意思的。只能點菜的人,無法傳給下一代家庭菜譜,不理解營養,無法養健康的孩子。いかにも個人的な考え方なんだけど、想像できない。次の世代に何も伝わっていかないし、なんか悲しい。中国人の癌になる確率が高いのはよく分かるわ。。。外食して安全性の確保は出来ないでしょう。特に中国で。っていうかカホの中国語は神レベル!w
