He looks allot like David Henrie from wizards of Waverly place I had to do a search to find a side by side pic. but i love his performance.... great countertenor not crazy about his lower notes being so heavy in chest voice.
Hi Cara, we don't moderate our video comments at the ASC...any and all are welcome, positive or otherwise. David's videos are very popular and we are delighted that his performances are having an impact on viewers.
-- En une dizaine d'année, David Hansen est devenu l'un des meilleurs contre-ténor de sa génération. Sa facilité à magner les notes hautes et le vibrato est déconcertante. --
David Hansen , I believe is generally seen as more a sopranist. His voice extends to D6 (d'''), given that the castrato who sang Pyramus in Johann Haesse's intermezzo "Pyramus and Thisbes" could do so, as is seen when one observes the manuscript score. Hansen sang that at original pitch, I've no doubt. To my ears, this piece lies too low for Hansen. He should include more repertoire for true soprano castrati. A compact disc of arias written for Gioacchino "Giziello" Conti by Geoerg Haendel and other composers could even be pursued by this man!
Well, actually countertenors somehow have mezzos' or contraltos' notes, not voices, for countertenors cannot sing many arias written for these voices. A countertenor simply dies if he wanted to sing "Di tanti palpiti", "Lasciami non t'ascolto" as Tancredi, "Una voce poco fa".
In the super low notes where it appears that his voice switches from falsetto to full, his timbre is a billion times more beautiful than his countertenor notes. Wish I could hear him singing as a tenor... Those low notes impressed and touched me while the high ones didn't. =/
Cute guy, great voice. I prefer this type of countertenor, where they sound a bit more alto-ish than all out Soprano (like a guy called Derek Lee Ragin whom I just watched beforehand). Because they can STILL get the high notes that others do - they just don't have that shrillness that some singers (like the horrible Vitas) have.
I love this man's voice. David Hansen does rock. I do wish he'd leave the blue contact lenses at home (sorry those swimming in his eyes, they are most definitely blue lenses) and they are a weird distraction. Google Image his rehersal eyes....bit less blue there I'd say. Otherwise, very powerful voice which matters.
He's simply gorgeous... I would just challenge the ones who disagree with me to sing as well as he do... I'm a countertenor too, and singing that way is hard...and don't call it falsetto, that's just the worst way to say bel canto...
I don't like to say anything negative about God-Given talent but I'm not sure I really liked it all that much. Not like David Hansen, now he's amazing.
there is no such thing as a real male alto countertenor singing those kind of arias (that i know of)... the only male i know who sings alto in full voice is rodrigo del pozo, and that's a totally different kind of repertoire. all the others jaroussky, scholl, daniels, fagioli etc etc etc all sing in falsetto for the high notes.
If you continue taking those sharp high notes Every K9 and the district will follow him hether and tither. You shows some promise. For those of you that like that sort of thing. Anyway I listen to the kid good luck you'll need it. I'm sure it'll have a strong gay following. It's an ugly world out there. Goodbye for now no need to respond goodbye so long
A CT who is nice looking but has obviously limited means. In my opinion, he should better sing arias of a composer where a very small voice is less embarrassing. By the way, I find it very intreseting that on most of his videos, even slightly critical comments won´t be published.
What a gorgeous voice! Such control and solid technique, and a beautiful tone. Thanks so much for posting.
not only his voice is just amazing but it seems like the closer they get to him, the more gorgeous he is.
Beautiful. .. I'm in tears !!!
Very bright and powerful. Nothing murky in his vocal colour. And the bottom of the range is rich.
This was astounding; thank you for posting!
his facial expression starting from 2:00 be like, "yes bitchez I can hit these notes higher than Whitney or Mariah". lolz
Not to mention that both of them could have much wider vocal ranges, though of course there's more to singing than range.
Cornelius, do you think the 'psycho' stare is a form of acting and has something to do with the lyrics? Sexy either way.
he was so young yet so brave and so very promising
OMG the quality of sound for someone so young is staggering. And I am a tenor!
An amazing talent and a real pleasure to listen.
Wowsy !! very good voice, unique range exceptional skills !! I love it !
Que c'est touchant! Magnifique! Merci AV
The aria is "Venga pur, minacci e frema" from Act 1 of Mozart's "Mitridate, re di Ponto".
David Hansen is my favourite ever. The most beautiful voice.
He looks allot like David Henrie from wizards of Waverly place I had to do a search to find a side by side pic. but i love his performance.... great countertenor not crazy about his lower notes being so heavy in chest voice.
What a beauty in any respect!!! Looks like Philippe Jaroussky's yonger brother - I wish you a very great success talented man!
Ah--memories of Richard Conrad. Thanks for posting.
Powerful and lovely

Excellent.

Que gracioso cada q termina de cantar, como hace la cara. 😁ohhh my god i love his voice, the best singer!!!🥳🥳🤗
amazing
beautiful....
awww he was baby back then! he came a long way, but the potential was already there
He is BEAUTIFUL !!!
My new Volcal instructor sent me this, I'm dying it's hilarious but so good XD
His facial expression’s awesome.
He went all the way up to soprano high C! Awesome! :D
He'll play a great villain some day. I love how he ends his phrases with that "and that's the way it is!" face.
BRAVO!!!
Bravisimo..

Simplemente magnifico!♡
bravo David 👍
He looks very handsome :3 He is good!
he's become sensational in 2012!
amazing and gorgeous. and hes getting better the older he gets..
Bravo!
very nice:)
wow increíble!!
he has such a gorgeous jaw line
does anyone know what aria this is?
If he is using falsetto production is he a Baritone or a Tenor then?
I almost hate to jump into the fray, but I'm curious what kind of singer you like.
He sounds very stable! Can't really say it's beautiful but robust and reliable rather.
Well, actually countertenors somehow have mezzos' or contraltos' notes, not voices, for countertenors cannot sing many arias written for these voices. A countertenor simply dies if he wanted to sing "Di tanti palpiti", "Lasciami non t'ascolto" as Tancredi, "Una voce poco fa".
cara de asesino pero increible tessitura!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nada de cara de asesino
juA
Is he a falsetto countertenor or a real male alto countertenor?
What aria is this please?
Venga Pur, minacci e Frema - From Mitridate Re di Ponto - Mozart.
Luciano Sabino Thanks so much :)
oh wow
In the super low notes where it appears that his voice switches from falsetto to full, his timbre is a billion times more beautiful than his countertenor notes. Wish I could hear him singing as a tenor... Those low notes impressed and touched me while the high ones didn't. =/
countertenor timbre is an acquired taste like alcohol
he isn't a tenor tho , baritone or even bass-baritone. Tenors don't rly have pretty falsettos.
WOWWWWWW¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ impresionante bien :)
This is "Venga pur, minacci e trema" from "Mitridate, Re di Ponto" by Mozart
THIS IS THE FIFTHE ONE IM HEAWRING SING SOPRANO TONIGHT? NEVER DID I KNOW OR IMAGINE THEY HAD MALE SINGERS SOPRANO WITH A FOLLOWING
Ohhhhh, he's good looking! :)
I thought the same thing, plus they have the same first name.
la voz se cultiva de pequeño este cantante la ha cultivado de pequeño un hombre que no cultiva su voz jamas cantara como soprano ademas es un don
Welcome 2016 in Berlin!

David DQ Lee의 윤슬같은 연주 들어 보세요~♡
I dont think he looks nervous at all , and his voice has matured beautifully
1:54
LOL -he is a countertenor not castrati. Nobody knows how castrati sounded, but likely very different from today's countenors.
SUPERBO!
2:00 Certified Intergalactic!!!
Berreón y actualmente sigue igual.

I know David personally. The eyes are real.
He's simply gorgeous...
I would just challenge the ones who disagree with me to sing as well as he do...
I'm a countertenor too, and singing that way is hard...and don't call it falsetto, that's just the worst way to say bel canto...
I think its too low for him...
He likes to frown at the end of phrases. It's simultaneously distracting and adorable. :P
Idk If he's doing it for the same reason, but I used to do that unconciously. It helped me from keeping my jaw too tight.
Tal vez si bajara varias escalas mas... porque las agudas...
Beautiful voice coming out from a handsome guy. Now tell me that 'god' doesn't exist.
Beauty is VERY subjective and his voice is mired with inconsistencies.
What brought god into this lol
countertenorrist wins!!!
is it just me or does he look like David Henrie from Wizards of Waverly Place?
I don't like to say anything negative about God-Given talent but I'm not sure I really liked it all that much. Not like David Hansen, now he's amazing.
lol it is David Hansen !
이미 이때도 월드클래스의 싹이 보였군요
there is no such thing as a real male alto countertenor singing those kind of arias (that i know of)... the only male i know who sings alto in full voice is rodrigo del pozo, and that's a totally different kind of repertoire. all the others jaroussky, scholl, daniels, fagioli etc etc etc all sing in falsetto for the high notes.
looks like he aint been sleep for days
But I must say.. He obviously looks so very nervous xD
Le cirque au la 415 est sans intérêt. C'est de la malhonnêteté, Monsieur !
Sounds falsetto to me :o But very good! =o
At times the voice seems a little strained...am sure with more training he'll make it
He sounds more feminine than me.
Great David ! but don't eat the jury ... !
risible :)
man he needs a tailor. i hate ill fitting clothes

You realize this video is from 2003 right? He's had a quite a successful career since.
Se ti avessero castrato avresti superato Farinelli
He would look better with better fitting trousers
yeah, that's so very important, isn't it :)
cecilia is much better :)
Cecilia is a mature woman with tons of experience, this was the singer's early appearance at a finals in Australia. apples and oranges !
ma che brutto timbro e che vibrato meccanico. nonono desolé
The orchestra is terrible 😂

Eek, he needs to work on those lower notes so they don't change timbre so much! Other than that, fantastic job :D
