@@hectorruiz4239 loose the power steering rack, take off the two engine mount bolts that are 18mm nuts on the bottom of the engine cradle, jack up engine at the transmission to give you a few more inches of room and cut out part of the cross member you don’t need it. That’s how I did mine still a pain in the ass. I believe book time to do it is 8 hours. If you don’t want to cut anything you will need to remove the engine cradle completely and a car lift would be necessary, you would still need to use an engine hoist to support the engine or use a pole jack to hold the engine up in place.
There is a ton of unnecessary work being done here. The oil pan only needs to be dropped a little bit to access the pickup tube bolt. Although this will make it easier to seat the pickup tube and make sure the O-ring isn't pinched. If you need more room to drop the pan lower you can jack the engine up another inch or so. The other option is there is a kit you can buy online or fabricate yourself that allows you to cut out the cross brace, weld some mounting plates to it and drill new holes for mounting. This makes the cross brace removable. Anyhow, I appreciate the video. I just hate to see people working harder than they need to.
Im trying to change my oil pan gasket now and damn what a struggle. Do you happen to know where l buy one of the kits you are talking about if l kit it?
I can't find them online one anymore, but there is a member on the Camaro5 forums that makes and sells them. Check out this thread: www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=464770 His member name is CFD and you can send him a PM to see if he still makes/sells them. I know he used to make them in batches and sell them.
@@AceelmetricYes, definitely the motor mounts. They are very easy to unbolt on 5th gens. You really just need to mostly loosen or remove the bolts from the top. Just gotta be careful when jacking up to not damage the pan. Think I used a 1x4 on top of my jack puck to spread out the force on the area being lifted. Also, if you lift too high the engine will hit the firewall. I damaged my trans pan when I did my engine swap by being careless, although it is substantially thinner than the oil pan. (cast vs. stamped)
I’m enjoying the oil pan removal right now I just got it out what a dick thanks GM lol thanks man I’ll keep you posted
I’m trying to change my 2012 camaro oil pan but it’s really difficult how did you do it

Do you know how to jack the engine up another inch? Do you have to unbolt anything? (motor mounts?)

All that just to change oil pump??? when I got my cam swapped and change oil pump none of this was required
Did you have to remove the front bumper?
Did you replace it for an low oil pressure issue?
Brian Roagers yes
I’m doing the same to mine
Brian Roagers is a big job but if you have any questions just let me know
@@julianmagallon9015you still around about to do mine
What oil pump did you use and was it high volume or high pressure?
RICKY GRAY high pressure
Did you use the highest pressure spring in the pump?
RICKY GRAY yes l did use high pressure spring
Did you you eliminate the relief valve in the oil pan, if you had a L99 or LS3? Any issues with seals with the higher oil pressure?
RICKY GRAY not at all problems whit seals l didn’t eliminate the relief valve
It is a lot easier to remove the engine
OK... So this should only take me roughly 6 minutes and 13 seconds. Cool.
Cuánto puedo cobrar por hacerlo
On what milage did your pump fail ?
These oem factory pumps were known to go bad. Swap it with a melling high flow.
