Thanks to Haynes for showing what a bad decision I made buying a modern sports car. I love my Camaro but there’s zero reason for willfully engineering a vehicle to be this difficult/expensive to work on.
So all you have to do is cut an access door when you lift up your back seat its on the passenger side close to the black gasket housing a wire. you can actually remove the gasket to feel around for your pump and then make a hole using sheet metal scissors and you will have easy access to the pump. after youre done you have to find a way to insulate the cut you made so the smells wont go into your cabin -my 2 cents
Hilarious how they thought they could fool everyone between a DIY/at home job, versus a proper shop job, with a lift and tools… I’m honestly about to just cut a hole into the frame, under my rear seats.. save myself the HUGE hassle.
@@isnowyazn I am going to do the same thing, this pulling the tank is a major job, I would be afraid of not connecting something back correctly. I am doing the back seat access panel instead.
I did all of this while chain smoking cigarettes to relieve the stress of disassembling my entire car. And on the off chance we both ignite, and no longer have to worry about this.
If I ever get a fuel leak, I’m definitely coughing up the money for mechanics at a shop or some mechanic friends, to do this for me. I don’t feel like cutting a hole in the frame, under my rear seats. A much EASIER way to change out the fuel pump is by cutting a small access hole under the rear seat. I did this to my 2010 SS and was able to change the fuel pump in less than an hour. It's very easy with a simple pair of aviation sheet metal scissors.
@@Private011 Everyone who races these cars cuts in the access hole and installs a door to gain access to the fuel pump. Only an idiot would go through all this to replace/upgrade the fuel pump. If you don't have a lift this job is almost impossible with out cutting the floor pan and the dealer will charge $1,400 to replace a bad fuel pump.
