DIY, home-made crossbow bolts or arrows, an easy way to make dowels for crossbow bolts and arrows

In this DIY video, I am going to show you how to make crossbow bolts or arrows from dowels using a router and simple and cheap dowel making jig. It is fun to make crossbow and arrow using only primitive tools| no power tools and materials such as bamboo and feathers, but using modern power tool can save a lot of time. To make the shafts and arrow heads, I am not going to use a lathe. After I saw people use threading tool to make dowels, I thought I might be able to use it to make the arrow shafts but the result is disappointing, so I decided to use another method by making my own dowels making jig following some of the videos on TH-cam and the result is satisfying.
In this video, I am not showing how to make medieval arrow heads or arrow heads made from spoons or rock as seen in some survival or primitive arrow making video. I hope you enjoyed this video thanks for watching and don’t forget to subscribe...

Cutting the dowel down the middle for the vanes certainly works, but a simpler solution is to just to glue the vanes on the side

but then you have issues with the vane coming off and looking a lot messyier. I think cutting it down the middle is smart, iv never seen somone do it like that before

As long as you make a broadhead for it

Yes, you ll need broadhead on the arrow tip to hunt large animals.
