ok I think you guys are confused, yes, this video is sponsored by Apple but it is not a song that was MADE for the purpose of the sponsorship like the one by Coca-Cola for example, this is a song from New Jean's EP apple probably offered ADOR/HYBE to shot the music video because it was an opportunity for them to sponsor the new phone and don't forget NJ is officially endorsed by Apple it was an opportunity for everyone involved
ETA Theory: the underlying theme throughout Newjeans MV’s is that they aren’t really there. They are an outside presence helping and supporting whoever the main character is. Notice during the first phone call you can hear Dani saying “we have to perform”. Indicating that they are an idol group not her real friends.
In ETA, (opening scene in the car) you can see the emerald next to the phone. Later on u see the same emerald bracelet on the cheating bf when he’s on the car hood with the other girl. This indicates everything in the MV already happened while Eva in the car is the present.
The scenes that follow:
Eva looking the the rear view mirror seeing her bf and other girl kissing
Eva in the car in the pool seeing her bf and other girl kissing
Newjeans in the gas station(with mics on)
Newjeans as cops
Newjeans in the car with her driving through the tunnel
Eva (kinda) running over bf(does that look like a couple who’s been run over?! Nope) They staring at her lol.
THIS is all a fantasy. Imagining Newjeans are her friends who are looking out for her and spilling the tea. Believing all the rumors of her bf cheating and then imagining when and how he cheated: pool party, swimming pool etc. Fantasizing about running him over. People who’ve been cheated on will sometimes fantasize about getting back at the cheater. Revenge fantasies it’s called. Though most don’t do anything of course.
The ending scene: The underlying theme of some of Newjeans MV’s, they are there to support and comfort. Ditto, Cool with You.
Eva, with the help of Newjeans (we see Hanni and Minji in the car mirrors) finally gets over the cheating bf. The shirt in the trunk and the running over is a metaphor for her finally getting over it and ridding herself of all the pain and angst from getting cheated on. So, no, Newjeans is not advocating violence when cheated on, lol.
Another brilliant project by the same director as Ditto and CWY, represent the parasocial relationship between idols and their fans. How music and their relationships with singers can help through the most difficult times in life.

I think that’s why I like new jeans, every video is different and artistic. Their music is really good and it’s just fun.
The video is not only about caught a boy cheating, there is more hidden significations if you’re paying more attention to it. It’s still artistic and unique as all their mvs.

@@danicoretrashhh at the end of the mv we can see in the car only minji and hanni on the mirrors but we can understand that the girl is alone on her car. Also we’ve seen the guy cheating with the girl on the pool and Eva was in her car on the pool too as if she can actually see what’s going on. Also we’ve seen her bf cheating on the road and Eva saw them and crash into them. Just to clarify the end of the mv with minji and hanni, again im not sure about the signification that’s why I’ve said « hidden » but we also saw the shirt of the boy on the car boot and it seems like minji and hanni were there during all the time and they like influenced Eva to get revenge on her bf. Why only minji and hanni ? We don’t know
So yeah it’s not only about a guy caught cheating.

the underlying theme throughout most of their mvs ~stemming from ditto~ are that they're not really there. they serve as protectors and friends to those in need. (like ban heesoo in ditto and eva in ETA). at the end where they show minji and hanni in the car with her- it cuts to a scene where the car is empty, only EVA gets out of the car. and you only hear footsteps of one person, which is EVA, not a set of footsteps. the theme coincides with us bunnies. there will be a time where WE are Eva and newjeans will help us, even if just by being in our imagination.. that is only my take on it anyway. NJ videos are top tier with hidden easter eggs and having us bunnies scramble our heads to think of the meaning LOL

Personally, I love it. New Jeans are your "Ride or Die" friends. 2:24 Hanni was like "This MF doing the most out here"😂 . I don't think she really killed him. There are scenarios going on here..."What if" fantasies. Yes, he was cheating. However, how will she handle it. She could confront him, hurt herself while trying to get there, murder him etc. New Jeans were the messengers but the girl is the one that shows the different reactions. That's what I think...but I could be wrong 😂 As for the song, I love it. Hell, my Auntie loves it. She turned cleaning the kitchen into a club 😂.

The EP is basically an experimental and a taste for the next album (hopefully a full one) so it's all very random. They're probably just trynna see what would stick but since they got big so fast might as well get the bag. It's crazy that they did this for their anniversary too so it's kinda risky but props to them bc the ep has some bangers. It got rated as #2 best kpop albums of all time by pitchfork and #1 is from 1992.

if all the mv's were in the same concept and direction, ppl would say its too boring, its the same. they give us fresh concepts with lore and interesting storyline for EVERY MV and y'all have a complaint lmao. its okay to not understand but complaining about not understanding is sooo funny to me. newjeans has something for everyone. if you like their music, you can listen to their music. but if you're into film, like art, or love videos that aren't one-dimensional and surface level that require you to *think* in order to decipher, then they have crazy mvs for you. i love that they don't use the standard kpop music video recipe, they have their own unique style. their lore is a BTS type-beat lore. not for everyone but those who can appreciate it, get it.
its annoying to me in general when people complain about not understanding the literal story of an mv. its not a movie or an episode of a tv show. the main purpose of it is really just communicating vibes and expressing the song.
