loved yr thoughts on the ferrante - I’ve never thought about the ebb and flow of intense episodes represented in the story in that way, and you’re def right. on the topic of books from the 60s [partially] set in berkeley and following a [sometimes] unlikable protagonist, I can’t remember if you’ve ever read Cassandra at the Wedding? would recommend if you haven’t the knits look so good!
Don’t be! They’re very different but I think you’ll find knitting a bit more meditative once you get everything set up because you don’t have to think of each row the same way as with crochet - at least in my experience
The Rachel Incident sounds so interesting!! maybe i will find it on audiobook to listen to as i knit :) i also read The Lost Child this year and was definitely thinking a lot about autofiction in relation to ferrante, and elena's kinda vindictive writing of lila's life. have you read In The Margins? if not i would recommend - she talks about the metanarrative aspect of her novels and it was so fascinating library cookbooks 4ever!! i haven't cooked from that book from carla but i enjoyed some of her recipes from That Sounds So Good! loveee the stickers - i think i had a version of the butterfly sticker book 🦋 the prima pullover looks so good!! and the green yarn!! so gorgeous and festive for winter🐸

i second the recommendation to read in the margins!
Absolutely need to read in the margins - feels like the perfect thing to read after finishing the series.
I want to put butterfly stickers on everything
wait I’m also watching the extended LOTR’s for the first time this weekend!!!
And how does it feel to be going through such a formative experience??
If you liked Crossing, you might like And then we danced from the same director! It's one of my fave movies, so beautiful
Thank u for the rec! I’m adding it to the list
