    First time here as for the steel beam because its a old house with corners everywhere you might find it way easier to go through the bathroom window as long as it opens up wide enough. Congrats on the work you've got done within the house it's looking pretty good so far plus you know it's going to last the rest of your life not like the newbuilds you see around now, they're only built to last the life of a mortgage if you're lucky!!!

    Liked the wood boxing over the bay window under the plaster. My 1998 build has thin metal sheet (possibly box of some kind) covering thermaliite blocks under the plaster above every window making it a nightmare to hang blinds or curtains. Yours will be a dream the way you’ve done it. More envy for me 😉

    the tablesaw outfeed conundrum is one reason an old-timer I know put a small hatch/window in the back wall of his tiny workshop so he could run long stock. :) In my own workshop, the saw location is also cramped, and complicated by having a path from an overhead door that needs to be kept clear, and a steel post holding up a mezzanine. The outfeed points to the back wall where there are shelves for lumber storage, and clearly demarked zone that must be kept clear to be able to split an 8x4 sheet of plywood, which just* clears the post for the mezzanine, and i have *just* up to 8 feet to the left of the blade, if the plywood slides along the bench for the miter saw. :)

    • @GosforthHandyman
      @GosforthHandyman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it was much easier when the window wasn't boarded up and I could just run long pieces straight through the window opening. 😁

      It was do-able (just!) with the template, but the lads ended up making it in the room, which made life considerably easier! So wasn't too bad. 👍

    I hate seeing lath & plaster being destroyed. Especially if it’s going to be replaced by modern cement or polymer based plasters! Lime plaster is so much healthier and better for your home. Breathable, anti-mould and anti-bacterial, absorbs & releases moisture back to balance humidity in your home. Lasts longer - houses hundreds of years old still have it going strong.
    OK that’s my soap box put away. People pls do not come at me - my opinion is as valid as anyone else’s!
