Was it easy to set the gimbal up inverted - does it come with a GUI or did you have to flip the sensor? I ran a 2 axis a few years back - but the three axis is so much better. Nice flight.
The location is beautiful. Such colors pop and zoom when flying close to the ground. The gimble camera steadies the video very nicely. The other camera shots in the corners make this easy to compare and contrast. And the overall presentation was masterfully done. Doesn't really need much editing! Very well done, sir.
I've programmed the 2 dials on the top of the Taranis for Pan and tilt. Then there is a 3 position switch to change between the 3 modes. I also have a video switcher so i can view the live feed through my FPV camera or the gimbal camera to frame shots. If you're interested to learn more I made a video on how this gimbal works and how to configure it: th-cam.com/video/8QE-AkNUOvY/w-d-xo.html Cheers
These occasional longer vids are nice to sit back and enjoy the ride. As always ... your SH is locked in mate. Looks like autumn is setting in early across the pond. Nice flight bro ☺
Cheers mate, I think the majority of people seem to prefer vids around 3mins, but then there are a lot of people out there that also enjoy to watch longer videos to get more of a feel for the flight. thanks for watching and for the comment :)
Stunning as always, and I agree with @elephantcup, there is an amazing amount of crap on YT, but, I visited a place I may never get to go to. Thank you.
Views From Above yep he made me get one too LOL using rc3 and it's is good love the position hold which was what sold me. Love that video oh crap now the skyhunter is in stock... Another think Adam has made me buy
Jazzynet100 luckily I still do foam board builds :) When my gimbal arrives I'll be flying it with a vector for the first time. I've been flying a Bigaole-6GP which is decent for a mediocre stabilization and RTH capability for the price. I feel like I'm finally making the big purchases to finally do what I want with the right equipment
So as a follow up, I've now a storm32 3-axis gimbal, video switcher, etc. Wow, really enjoying it. I'm almost out of channels now with gimbal mode, pan, tilt, gimbal reset position etc... Lol :)
Hey, do you think you could do a video on some skyhunter build tips. Such as the tail stabilizers and the runcam facing in towards the plane (on the wing) etc. That would be awesome!!!
Hi and thank you. It would not work in the way you expect. The more you turn your head the faster it would rotate. The angle of your head would not match the angle of the camera turn like on a pan and tilt. Hope this helps
Would it be out of line for me to ask for a parts list of your build? I really want to get in to long range fixed wing. I do pretty good distance with quadcopers but this build you've done is just great! From the ground station to the actual aircraft!
Thanks for another great video. I'd like to see/do some even lower flying over rivers and through the trees. How far do you think you could take a quadcopter up that river while flying only a few feet from the water?
Cheers for the comment. Yeah I guess you could get quite far up there with a quad, sometimes its hard to see the small branches low down and if you clip one you could end up in the drink :D
Cheers Ryan :D throttle is manually controlled the entire flight, I tend to just adjust it according to how it feels. It cruises very happily at an airspeed of 50kmph so tend to keep it around there unless I fancy a bit more speed. Hope this helps
No because I doubt the results would be good. With the plane sometimes pointing into bright areas and towards the sky, and then darker areas around the ground, the exposure wouldn't work for both. Also the cameras on this flight were fairly cheap and are old tech now :) Cheers
Hey Adam, I've been watching your videos for a while. Nice work! Love the gimbal in this one. Have a request for you: Assuming the plane is capable of this...any chance you could pull a backflip with the same setup? I'm sure others would like to see it too.
Connor Spies hey, thanks for the comment and for taking the time to watch my videos. The plane is capable and I have done rolls like that in the past, but unfortunately I wouldn't do it now as the gimbal doesn't like it. I'll see if I have any old footage of this plane doing loops though
awesome. the only thing i would mention about the gimbal on a plane, you need to allow a little bit of roll in there - obviously not as much as in the fpv view, but it looks weird just "sliding" to change direction. That's a personal opinion, but just something i noticed - either way, great video
Awesome video! Have you tried mounting the gimbal under the nose? It seems that you would get footage closer to what's under the UAV. Still a great video and nice setup
Erwin L thanks 👍🏻 yeah it's partly my fault for using a mode on the gimbal that locks the pitch in line with the nose. The normal mode stops it from pitching up and down allowing for a perfect light balance the whole flight
Hello Adam nice VId. I am aware the video is old i hope you will answer. Is there a way how to move the camera as you wish , I mean as a regualar pan and tilt gimbal. Thanks.
@@AdamGdoesFPV Thanks adam for your quickly reply. I sow the video linked. it is what I look for. I know i am asking much, but do you peraphs know some gimbal similar to the 3d pro. I sow the new one gw2x but it is not possible to be controlled remotly by tx. Thanks ;)
Correct I have a dedicated FPV camera fixed in the nose. I have a video all about the setup on this gimbal and the camera etc if you check out my channel :) However, the video is transmitted from the FPV cam to the GS on 1.2ghz
Pretty countryside. The gimbal does a great job at steadying the camera - i use one myself, i think they are fantastic. I'm assuming you use a flight controller (FC) to control your aeroplane. If the gimbal can control the angle of the camera, why can't the FC control the aeroplanes control surfaces so that it keeps the aeroplane flying straight and level until you input changes? Is it just the mode you fly so you're having to make adjustments all the time? Do you need to make adjustments all the time? Could you let go of the joystick and would the FC fly the aeroplane itself? I much about with multirotors so I don't know much about aeroplanes. Love the video. Nice music. Thanks for posting!
My flight controller does keep the plane flying level just as you described (Stabilise mode), or you can fly fully manual. It also has another 3 or 4 automated flight modes so you can have as much or as little control as you like. In stabilise mode its so easy to fly I let my wife fly it over a lake no problem, and she's never flown an rc plane before. For info on all the kit on board this plane check out the video description :)
Thanks for that. I'm a NOOB when it comes to the World of RC Aeroplanes. I am interested in getting myself a aeroplane. It's all good stuff. I'm thinking maybe a flying wing would suit. I'll keep researching.
Awesome video ..... I have a question I’m not good at this stuff ..... the 800 mw vtx is that for the long distance video link and do I have to get a new transmitter ? I use a old 8 Channel. DX8 at the moment ...... looking forward for yr reply thanks
The VTX power is not so important, but more so it’s the antennas that you use for video. Your DX8 is for you control link which is completely separate from the video link, so you don’t need to replace that. My advice though is to avoid using 2.4g for your control link in combination with 1.2g for your video link, it doesn’t work well.
You don't need a drone licence to fly anything unless you are doing it for commercial use. The distances you are allowed to fly are determined by the laws in your country. These limits are in place for a good reason as people can't be trusted to do it safely. I do fly beyond these limits but only if I am sure it is a safe flight in the right environment. Hope this helps.

Added some stabilization in post as well? I see a little warping and breathing.
It's actually built into the Firefly 6S Camera, I keep forgetting to turn it off since i used it in my smaller wing that gets bounced around a lot :/
