Great video! I'll be building my first FPV plane this summer and found this very helpful. If I'm just starting out and using 2.4 for control and 5.8 for video, do the transmitter and receiver have to be as far apart as they are on your build?
Glad I could help! The short answer to you separation question is no :) people fly way smaller planes (like the Dart250g) with 2.4 and 5.8 and can fly for miles without issue. But the more you space them apart, the more likely you will achieve longer range... depends on what type of flying you'll be doing. Good luck with the build!

I don't think you have to do anything special, I have thrown this plane hundreds of times and no issues. If you look at my other Skyhunter videos you'll see in a lot of them how i throw it
Your videos have been very helpful , thank you for posting them 👍👍👍👍👍👍, Also I want to ask you if you have any info on a twin tractor skyhunter and what do you think of it ? I’m thinking about building one
This is an extremely dangerous plane to launch. The launch grip is just inches ahead of the prop. I launched mine twice before deciding to quit while I still had all my fingers. Then added landing gear but was not happy with the added weight and drag. Finally removed the landing gear and went to twin tractor motors on the leading edge of the wing. Overall it looks cooler than it is.
It's a shame you feel that way about it. I've hand launched this thing hundreds of times over the last 5 years and I've never worried about the prop. I've also never heard of anyone else having issues launching and catching their hand with the prop on a Skyhunter 🤷🏻♂️
Hello thank you for this informations.great job!! But what about the weight of the model?I watched all of your videos about the sky Hunter but you didn't tell anything about it.
You need to match polarisation on plane and ground, otherwise you will really reduce your range a lot. I use the singularity side feed antenna on all planes now and bury it in the wing.
I appreciate your work very much Adam! There is so much to learn - between video, UHF, and all the other things going on inside of one of these airframes. You are using 2 separate UBEC circuits from the current sensor to power the Autopilot and Video- but is the BEC that comes from your ESC connected to anything? Hi Adam, do you have any issues running everything off the on battery. Wondering if I should use a separate battery for my vtx? Your thoughts would be welcomed. Keep up the great work, love the videos.
Hi. My thoughts are that running a second battery isn’t necessary and it just adds another point of failure and an extra thing you need to think about and charge before every flight. If your wiring is done well then you won’t have issues with noise in your video feed. Ive had 10+ FPV fixed wing models and never ran a second battery for video gear. Thanks for following my channel 👍🏻👍🏻😊

Hi Adam, Quick question. So I built a skyhunter and flew it for the 1st time. It flies nice and stable. Unfortunately it has a tendency to tip stall once it gets between 0 and 15 miles per hour. It actually tip stalls really bad and I cannot seem to figure out why. I have everything well balanced from front to back and from left to right so I am pretty positive it's not that. I am not sure what else would be causing the issue. Very disappointed
Hi Aaron. The Skyhunter is an awesome plane and there is nothing wrong with yours at all. The problem here is physics 😅 you simply cannot fly this at 15mph, it’s way too slow. It would be very rare I’d fly mine below 30mph. Keep your speed above stall speed and you’ll be fine.
Hey Aaron, like Adam said 15mph is pretty slow for a Skyhunter all geared out for LR flight. I do know what you mean though. Something I thought about trying to help with the tips falling out is adding a wing fence to keep airflow from dumping off the end of the wing. Was thinking of making it out of coraplast or maybe 3D printed about 3/4in high and mount them at the end of the ailerons. I'm not an aerospace engineer but thought I'd try it sometime.
Yes there are 3 channels for control. Not really had any issues because of the lack of rudder to be honest. But then my flying style isn’t to fly in a straight line for long periods of time

thank you for making awesome content ! this video actually inspired me to build a skyhunter model as well . mounted retractable landing gear , myflydream setup. i also got partom 1.3 tx but noticed audio and video on seperate wires from tx. if i use servo wires (ground , power , video )to connect to myflydream f.c will i need a single wire for audio to flight controller ? when useing mpx connector, do u connect power and ground to input side and then split power and ground with servo cables for output side for rx , servos , vtx ?
Great! glad this inspired you to have a go at building one too! The white cable would need to be connected to a microphone or a device with a microphone for it to receive audio to transmit back. I have never used audio so not something I've looked into. Yes I connect power and earth to MPX pins and then on the other end split them to different devices so that you don't use too many pins on the MPX. Just ensure that the voltage on the power cable is suitable for each device you are splitting it to. You have to use a dedicated pin for each different voltage. Cheers
Thank you Adam ! Sorry for my bad English but what's you distance flight record ? Another question : I have an EzUHF but my range is about ~1km so, I've bought an Antenna (Nagoya Na771) but my range is not really better.... Any ideas ? Thanks in advance ! Once again, sorry for my bad English.
Hi. Your English is good 👍🏻 My furthest distance from home is 17km and that is because I was flying to many different places, so once at17km I had to return because of battery. Control link and video feed were still fine. I could easily go a lot further than this but it’s not the type of flight I enjoy. Cheers
I’ve never been a big fan of EzUHF but it should still get further than 1km. It sounds to me like you either have some interference at your flying location or there’s something on board your plane causing interference
have you ever noticed any tailbooms wobbles? the design of the joining method is definetely not strong enough on my miniskyhunter v2 , and I was wondering whether it is the same on the big one
Dude, I've based my whole set up on yours. I have one drama, connecting my telemetry receiver to the mfd auto pilot. Do I need something like a decoder?
The current sensor is actually part of the autopilot, comes with it 😊 most people go for the Matek boards these days which have the current sensor built into the main unit (no external sensor)
Hi Adam, Do you know Anaconda from Readymade? I ask him because it is similar to the Skyhunter, much more expensive but little information I find about it in videos or forums. I want to start a new fpv project, but the Skyhunter's tail does not convince me because of how fragile it is.
Thanks :) Unfortunately I can't point you in the direction of 1 place that will tell you all you need to know. Just learn a bit at a time by watching YT vids and reading on RCGroups and Facebook groups.vWe all start somewhere with zero knowledge :)
Hi Adam, do you know why those 16000mah have doubled in price? Was £60 now £120(!) just out of curiosity - have they changed the chemistry or has long range gotten popular enough that they're upping prices on these longer lasting batteries?
Hi Carl, to be honest I'm not sure why the hike in price by 100%. They appear to have made it slightly more heavy duty as the C rating has gone up, but not enough to warrant the price difference. I find with HK the prices jump up and down a bit a sometimes they go on sale. I'm pretty sure I got my 16a when it was on sale. On the plus side, I've had it for 4 years and it's still going strong. Cheers

Adam G does FPV Would you prefer digital over analog servos for flight controller builds? The servos they recommend for this plane seem small unless you cut out the servo pockets for larger servos. I’m looking at Hitec he-5070mh or hs-5065mg or the MG91 servos you used on your mini talon.
Adam, would you still recommend this plane? I was considering purchasing this plane and running the new TBS Crossfire Micro V2 long range control system.
Has anyone tried white polyurethane adhesive to glue their aircraft together ? . . I use it in the motorhome industry and its also what they glue race cars together with . . . In a crash the metal rips away from the bonded joints its literally that strong
Yeah it can be done with the right gear. But it is always more effort on 5.8, it’s a lot less forgiving than 1.2, especially at low altitude or behind objects like trees
Hey Adam, thank you for your video! One question i am planning to do a similar build, but i have some question on what do i need compared to yours. i am planning to build mine on Digital FPV with a DJI air Unit, would the range also be very compromised?
The DJI air unit will replace the video transmitter and FPV camera that I use. If you use DJI you will be very limited on range and freedom compared to 1.3G analogue. To start with DJI is limited to 13km, so it all depends what you want from it 👍🏻

thank you for making awesome content ! this video actually inspired me to build a skyhunter model as well . mounted retractable landing gear , myflydream setup. i also got partom 1.3 tx but noticed audio and video on seperate wires from tx. if i use servo wires (ground , power , video )to connect to myflydream f.c will i need a single wire for audio to flight controller ? when useing mpx connector, do u connect power and ground to input side and then split power and ground with servo cables for output side for rx , servos , vtx ?
Great! glad this inspired you to have a go at building one too! Cheers

Hey brotha keep an eye out for some coffees lol. I got some more questions for ya on theere lol . Thank you again. Brotha .
@@gtown9563 Hi Vinny, I just replied on the coffee site, many thanks for your support 🙌🏻
Hi. Your English is good 👍🏻
My furthest distance from home is 17km and that is because I was flying to many different places, so once at17km I had to return because of battery.
Ok.
Thank you Adam.
Cheers
have you ever noticed any tailbooms wobbles? the design of the joining method is definetely not strong enough on my miniskyhunter v2 , and I was wondering whether it is the same on the big one
Hi, not had this issue with the big Skyhunter. Joins are quite solid :)
@@AdamGdoesFPV thanks!
What do you use to charge your battery’s?
I have a Turnigy Reaktor charger and a HP server PSU
Dude, I've based my whole set up on yours. I have one drama, connecting my telemetry receiver to the mfd auto pilot. Do I need something like a decoder?
I assume you meant rx like your FB message?
Do you have a link to the current sensor you used, or did I overlook it?
The current sensor is actually part of the autopilot, comes with it 😊 most people go for the Matek boards these days which have the current sensor built into the main unit (no external sensor)
Hi Adam, Do you know Anaconda from Readymade? I ask him because it is similar to the Skyhunter, much more expensive but little information I find about it in videos or forums. I want to start a new fpv project, but the Skyhunter's tail does not convince me because of how fragile it is.
I've no experience with the Anaconda sorry. However, I can tell you my Skyhunter tail has had no issues in the many years it's been flying. Cheers
Hey man! Amazing videos! I would like to assemble an fpv plane; but dont even know how to start. Would you recommend any materials for dummies?
Thanks :) Unfortunately I can't point you in the direction of 1 place that will tell you all you need to know. Just learn a bit at a time by watching YT vids and reading on RCGroups and Facebook groups.vWe all start somewhere with zero knowledge :)
What does your plane weigh with a battery and camera
3250g with 16,000 4S and DJI Osmo Action camera
Thanks Adam
No problem. Hope it was useful 👍🏻
Cheers
@@AdamGdoesFPV cheers bud, Ive ordered a pepperbox :) Cant buy it all at once but will build it up as I go, just hoping I can get away with my fat shark scouts rather than have to change goggles as that will push up the price
@@carlharrison3637 No worries mate. Don't worry too much about the goggles, you already have a pair that work :) Most of us can't buy this stuff all at once, just a case of slowly building it up like you say. If you're buying items from RMRC I'd appreciate if you use one of the links in my vid description, You'll get extra rewards points and I'll get some too... and I'll appreciate you supporting my channel :D Cheers!
@@AdamGdoesFPV I did use your link for the pepperbox - though its not in stock, but i have paid for it so hopefully it will show up once it gets shipped to me fella, have made a note of your links anyway, the RMRC stuff you cant get anywhere other than them, theres a couple of items i think that may not be getting used any more so i might (when i get to buying them) ask you what do you recommend, then if you get a referral link, can work that way
@@carlharrison3637 Cheers I appreciate the support :) I'm sure they will get the Pepperbox out to you soon. Yeah let me know if you need any recommendations. Thanks :D
What servos are you using on your skyhunter? Digital or analog ?
Turnigy Coreless Digital. Wouldn't buy the same ones again due to the noise they make when powered up
Adam G does FPV Would you prefer digital over analog servos for flight controller builds? The servos they recommend for this plane seem small unless you cut out the servo pockets for larger servos. I’m looking at Hitec he-5070mh or hs-5065mg or the MG91 servos you used on your mini talon.
Adam, would you still recommend this plane? I was considering purchasing this plane and running the new TBS Crossfire Micro V2 long range control system.
This is still a great all rounder that I would recommend to anyone. There's a reason they've have been around for so many years.
Can it fly with 2 gropo cameras
The Skyhunter is a big plane, it can carry 5 if you want it to :)
Has anyone tried white polyurethane adhesive to glue their aircraft together ?
.
.
I use it in the motorhome industry and its also what they glue race cars together with

In a crash the metal rips away from the bonded joints its literally that strong
Para pasar medio K ..... : ) Cada vez son mas grandes!
Thanks for watching :)
What is the song?
Hi, it's called 'Hot Coffee', from the free YT music library.
where is your cg?
On the aileron servo wire
@@AdamGdoesFPV thanks
I wonder could you hang a flying sign off the back saying happy birthday or something or just married?
Can't see why not... might be a bit hard to read when you consider the scale of the plane.
It work very good like 87
Absolutely 🤪🤪😂
1.3ghz making a return.. flywoo making vtx & vrx. Geprc making a 2w 1.3ghz vtx
1.3g is not dead, still has it's uses.
Here's my 5.8 long range personal record: 9km out.
Yeah it can be done with the right gear. But it is always more effort on 5.8, it’s a lot less forgiving than 1.2, especially at low altitude or behind objects like trees
What is this "fuse" rubbish
Haha if that's all you have to say about this video you're in the wrong place
@@AdamGdoesFPV ace video, there’s always one adam
Hey Adam, thank you for your video!
One question i am planning to do a similar build, but i have some question on what do i need compared to yours. i am planning to build mine on Digital FPV with a DJI air Unit, would the range also be very compromised?
The DJI air unit will replace the video transmitter and FPV camera that I use. If you use DJI you will be very limited on range and freedom compared to 1.3G analogue. To start with DJI is limited to 13km, so it all depends what you want from it 👍🏻
@@AdamGdoesFPV ok thank you very much for your help!
