Thank you for laying out a basic recipe for us to customize to our tastes and culture. I’m a vegetarian, so I simply replaced the chicken stock with vegetable stock, added rehydrated shiitake mushrooms, and used the veggie replacements for the seasonings. Oh, and I did add 1 tablespoon of yondu for extra umami. Since those seasonings are pretty salty, I did not add salt to my broth. It’s very versatile, so thank you very much!
I'm so glad I saw your comment! I' m a vegetarian as well and I've never heard of Yondu. It sounds good thanks for teaching me something I didn't know.
So? What’s wrong with that? I doubt there’s a single authentic recipe that’s the OG for all wonton broths. Chinese American cuisine is finally being recognized as an important and unique entity separate from the classic regional foods from China.
Most Asian recipes I have seen on youtube consist of cornstarch, salt ,eggs ,meat, vegatable oils including Sesame seed oil. Sugar, soy and fish sauce and vegetables. Most items are deep fried, yet you look at these people and they are NOT FAT. They have nice skin. If I ate that way, I would not look as good. Its all genetics.
Thank you Ly for the delicious broth recipe! ❤❤
