Just discovered your channel today. Dang!! Detailing engines, painting w/Lacquers - this is exactly what I'm looking for and you present a lot of great material with very clear explanations!! Thanks a LOT for sharing your knowledge with us!!
I tend to use Future as a top coat, and that works very well as a "glue" as well. Also, it can be used to get rid of scratches on windshields, and even dip the windshield in it to provide some protection. That stuff is wonderful!
I just wanted to thank you Dr. for all the interesting and informative videos. My modeling has improved so much since I subscribed to your videos. You are an inspiration to all us styrene addicts. Thank you!
I am looking forward to this clinic. As I prgress in My model building I am trying to learn new things. I purchased an aftermarket magneto for a project. The wires are very fine. I am watching you to see how you attach them to the sparkplugs. Just an FYI, those things you called valve covers are the heads. KUTGW. I look forward to part 2.
Doc.. I’m really lovin’ building these model cars. But I am having a fit trying to find custom wheels and tires like the ones you were showing on your Willys custom coupe. Can you recommend a good outlet for products like these. Thank you so much and keep up the good videos.
Great video, I only know engines because 3 of my 5 older brothers were (are) Chevy Gear Heads LOL - I have helped build plenty of 1:1 motors - all Chevy's Thanks for sharing this clinic, I always learn a lot from them, and they are inspirational
HEY DOC, WHEN U WERE DESCRIBING THE ENGINE. THAT PART THAT IS ATACHED IS CALLED THE HEADS....THE CHROME PARTS ARE THE VALVE COVERS.... DONT WANNA SOUND CORRECTING , JUST HELPIN ....
using the clear coat is a great idea. I assume it would work with other clears. I hope so, cause the nearest hobby shop is literally in the next state! it's only about 10-12 miles, but still. anyway, I'm gonna try it with whatever cheap clear Walmart has. taking a break when you get agitated is good advice too. when dad and I were still building hotrods(real cars) and we'd start getting pissed when tings weren't going right. we'd go inside and smoke a...uh..cough cough..."cigarette". then go back out, and everything fell right into place:)
Very nice tips Doc. I thouroughly enjoy these type of videos cause you never know what you may learn or even find a way to do something easier than you are already doing it. Plus it just keeps you fresh an up to date. I like to keep a pair of locking tweezers around also cause sometimes I need to keep the part in place while I change hands or something. By the way, if you are goin to use the linkage detail could you show a clinic on that pleae? Thanks in advance. Happy Holidays!
hey doc! had these parts been clear coated before assembling (after Color painting)? when you use the clear to glue parts together, these parts needs to have a top coat after painting?
Sounds good buddy. I am gonna have to try that clear top coat, sounds like it is really good stuff. Looking forward to the next video DOC! Later my friend.
sweet vid. thnx for the tips i have this 57 chevy belair kit and it comes with wiring and it has all the holes pre drilled and all i gotta do is wire it... KUTGW Stuart Sokolow
Hah, I was going to say "Doc, those aren't valve covers, they're heads - the valve covers go on top of the heads!" But someone beat me to it ;) Bit disappointed we didn't get to see you in action here, but I guess that'll be for the next part. Also, what was that tool you set the brush beside? Looking forward to the next part; this is something I've always needed help with. I know my engines pretty well, but doing it on this small of a scale has intimdated me, especially with my poor eyes
Ha Ha you'r in "engine mod" eh? 'We are giving her all she'l got now captain!' as you said before in one of your vid's some things need drilling and pining or they might fall of . good work keep it up an thanks
Doctor Cranky's Lab-RAT-ory they are both. I'm not dogging on you. Just blows my mind because the directions tell you what the parts are. Plus if you knew more wouldn't that help you be more scale correct?

Yes! Thought TBH it might be cheaper if you get some Future (or as it's now called Pledge with Future shine) to use for that.
Doc, did you a paint the chrome or use it as it is in the kit? If you painted them do you do it by hand or air? and what paint did you use?
Love the tips never thought of clear coat for a glue. Very very nice.
HEY DOC, WHEN U WERE DESCRIBING THE ENGINE. THAT PART THAT IS ATACHED IS CALLED THE HEADS....THE CHROME PARTS ARE THE VALVE COVERS.... DONT WANNA SOUND CORRECTING , JUST HELPIN ....
Great video Doc. Great advice.Really appreciate all you do.
What wheels did you use for this build? Or in which kit the where?
Those are one-off machined wheels.

Good video Doc. Good paint and proper assembly on a motor can make or break a model.
cool Willies Doc. . is that a Cevy Engine? what color are you painting the Willies?
Great video. The rocketsilo made a video about making and using future glue to do the same thing you do with the clear top coat.
hey is it safe to clean parts after I put them together? I've basically got my Cuda engine almost completed and ready for paint.

Happy Holidays!
Can you use the MM topcoat to attach photoetch emblems to a car body?
Dr cranky!! Are you still out there ?
Is the top coat a glue or dose it just ack like a glue?
Alright, on your recommendation, I will pick up some model masters top coat.
Another great video Doc!
Thank you
Say doc, how do you find the aftermarket products. Been to a couple of sites but they’re kind of confusing. Can you help me??
What kind of aftermarket products are you looking for?
I was looking for engine and body stuff.
Check out PRO TECH. Also The Model Garage.
Ok thanks doc.
Where do you buy your house of color paint?
When hand brushing is it a good idea to thin enamels.
hey doc! had these parts been clear coated before assembling (after Color painting)?
when you use the clear to glue parts together, these parts needs to have a top coat after painting?
I only use the clear to glue parts like headlights, and sometimes delicate engine parts too.
Thanks a lot! Sorry for the dumb questions...
Nice video and looking forward to more tips.
Doc what kit is that? Did you lower it yourself? I absolutely love the stance!
Man! this is better the second time around! do you need to scrape off the paint when you use glue it enamel you showed?
Willys looks real good with those cl wheels doc
pretty sweet lookin 41 willy's. I think that's the only 41 willy's ever built that ISN'T a prostreet

Plz answer. Where can I get wired for wiring my motor? Thank you great vid
Try a phone or Ethernet cord. They have 4 or 8, respectively small wires inside
Great stuff DC. Looking forward to Pt. 2.
Sounds good buddy. I am gonna have to try that clear top coat, sounds like it is really good stuff. Looking forward to the next video DOC! Later my friend.

How can you be a seasoned scale model CAR builder and know nothing about cars? I've seen this in many of your videos.
LOL, that is a very good question. I think of cars more as art than as machines.
Doctor Cranky's Lab-RAT-ory they are both. I'm not dogging on you. Just blows my mind because the directions tell you what the parts are. Plus if you knew more wouldn't that help you be more scale correct?
I don't want to leave on a bad note. I have learned quite a bit from you.
Building a model of a car is nothing compared to the car itself and being a mechanic. Like the good DR. said, it's more of an art.
