Important note: Score a line in the surface of the syringe at the correct dose. Oil-based medications (such as tuna oil for pet medications) can REMOVE THE SYRINGE MARKINGS. If this happens, you want to be able to feel the correct dosage mark. It is too late to do it after the numbers are dissolved away. It is very important to clean the syringe after each use. Any tiny residue can clog the syringe plunger. I buy a silicone syringe lubricant which I apply to the rubber plunger seal after each use. Otherwise, this is a very good, detailed instructional video.

I give an oil based med to my cat in very small amounts (.15 ML) and yes the markings disappear and plunger is sticking even though it has been cleaned after each use.. I'm going to find a syringe lube as you suggest. My question is what about the volume of med in the very tip? Even when I administer the prescribed dose, there is quite a bit of med left in the very tip. I appreciate your comment to this and any insight you might have.

If we're required 2ml of a medicine Wouldn't any oral syringe be fine to use if we only oull to 2ml

When you fill the syring does the liquid at the tip of the syringe count ?

@@cfsaw76 because the top of the plunger isn’t completely flat. It’s beveled, so that space is made up in the tip.

Still can’t figure if the inner tip is counted at the top or bottom as it takes up space.
