well effeminate gay guys aren't necessarily cringe, what's cringe is when it feels like this show panders and doesn't keep the broader audience in mind, when it wants you to like someone who doesn't do anything likable. it's a bit odd that we are literally prevented from learning anything about the kid except that he watches beauty content and his boyfriend calls him and he doesn't answer. marvel stuff is supposed to be focused on heroism and villainy, build towards inner struggles, that kind of thing, so those scenes feel a bit out of place and like a waste of time and like unearned sympathy. the writers just wanted to mirror wandavision, introduce a bunch of characters, get them to the witches road by the end of episode 2 and somehow glue it together with quick comedy, so it's a bit rushed and shallow. I personally think it's pretty okay and easy to watch so far, it feels a little bit more like tv rather than stretched MCU movie-tv, didn't make me question watching tv as a hobby or want to stab my eyes, but having low expectations probably helped.
I think what’s most upsetting is how they try to force any gay character to be a big character BECAUSE they are gay. They make it seem like gay people in shows are so different from the other cast because of their sexuality. That’s not representation, that’s forced diversity for both sides.

as a gay person I hate that there’s this huge push for gay representation in media just to make it embarrassing and cringe. Like wtf that doesn’t help at all
well effeminate gay guys aren't necessarily cringe, what's cringe is when it feels like this show panders and doesn't keep the broader audience in mind, when it wants you to like someone who doesn't do anything likable. it's a bit odd that we are literally prevented from learning anything about the kid except that he watches beauty content and his boyfriend calls him and he doesn't answer. marvel stuff is supposed to be focused on heroism and villainy, build towards inner struggles, that kind of thing, so those scenes feel a bit out of place and like a waste of time and like unearned sympathy. the writers just wanted to mirror wandavision, introduce a bunch of characters, get them to the witches road by the end of episode 2 and somehow glue it together with quick comedy, so it's a bit rushed and shallow. I personally think it's pretty okay and easy to watch so far, it feels a little bit more like tv rather than stretched MCU movie-tv, didn't make me question watching tv as a hobby or want to stab my eyes, but having low expectations probably helped.
I think what’s most upsetting is how they try to force any gay character to be a big character BECAUSE they are gay. They make it seem like gay people in shows are so different from the other cast because of their sexuality. That’s not representation, that’s forced diversity for both sides.
