    Fiddlers, Sand Fleas, Mussels and oysters in that order are by far the best Sheepshead bait! Wrap the baits in a nylon mesh to keep them from cleaning the hook so fast! I have caught 3 Sheepshead on one bait before!

    Hey guys,
    Sucks about the camera. Sorry.
    I love the live action in the boat like this video. You asked for feedback on the content, so here's what I think an ideal fishing video should include:
    The target species.
    Where are you fishing and why.
    Quick rod and reel review.
    What's the bait or lure, why, and how it is rigged.
    Show the cast.
    Then show how you are retrieving. Speed, action, etc.
    I think the last is the most important. Seeing a rod tip and Bubba reeling in bass doesn't tell me anything. You guys always stress how the retrieve is more important than the bait/lure.
    This video was great for that.
    Great work on this video.

    I love the format guys. There are plenty of videos of people catching fish. You guys are showing us how to catch more fish. Also, thank you for showing the reality of fishing. Sometimes you catch a boat load and sometimes you don't. Unfortunately, broken equipment, of one type or another, is also part of real fishing. God is good, even when the fish don't cooperate and the camera goes for a swim.

    Another great video. I love these "unplugged" videos with little to no editing. I know you're goal was to keep the gear simple and cheap with the hooks, but I got to say the Owner Mosquito #1 hook is just plain awesome for that kind of fishing.

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment Bill! I haven't yet tried their mosquito hooks, but I did try a couple others that were fairly similar and I found that my hookup results decreased whenever I was using a hook that had a point that curved inward towards the hook shaft (even if very slight)... my belief is that the basic hook with the point facing straight can more easily penetrate the shell of the shrimp since it's hitting it at a better angle.

    If after 2 casts you either catch nothing or a few dink fish save the dink fish an move to another spot. No more than 1 to 2 casts max per spot covor lots of water you'll find more fish. After you've covored lots of water an spent time fishing an you actually find fish after covering tons of water. Also vary retrieve 2 to 3 seconds fast reel crank. Pause 2 to 3 seconds then 2 seconds moderate reel turn right after the 2 to 3 second reel turn. Also you can do 2 to 3 seconds reel turn fast, pause 1 second then 2 moderate or slow reel turns. After that do a half reel turn as fast as you can pause 1 second repeat 3 times. Alternate between 2 to 3 seconds fast reel turn pause either 1 second or 2 to 3 seconds then 2 moderate or slow reel turns. Then right after do half reel turns fast as you can pause 1 second repeat 3 times. Mix it up between the 2 back an forth the whole way back towards you.

I also joined your insider channel today and am excited to log on (still waiting for your e-mail). Thanks for all the good tips on fishing bridges. When you do this again, assume your listener is a blank slate. I would have liked to have you shown a close up of your rig. The close up of how you hooked your shrimp went by too fast for me. Other than that, I’m going to keep,following you.

    👍 was fishing Fort Myers beach under north bridge and a plastic bottle hits me directly on the top of my head 😂 I opened it up and it was a note from 10 year old vacationer from Massachusetts saying if found please call and left a number. Was thinking about calling right away with a Mexican accent. But I didn’t. Didn’t put the plastic back to see either. 🎣

    If a small fish eats your live bait have a bait bucket filled with water half way full throw the small fish into your bait bucket. Check your line after fish bites once line is good try again. If you kept catching dink fish fill bait bucket u threw the last dink fish you caught an use those dink fish.

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are tougher to find/catch, so we just used shrimp since that's what more people use. The crabs are excellent for sheepshead. The shrimp seem to do a better job at getting more action... just have to deal with more undesirable fish.
