The best thing about this is that her parents were both there to see her win the award. They were the ones who enrolled her in acting lessons with a coach to help her with her struggles in life. Little did they know she would be a star.

And it was directed by one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, Peter Weir. His body of work speaks for itself --- here are some of the more memorable ones --- *_Picnic at Hanging Rock, The Last Wave, Gallipoli, The Year of Living Dangerously, Witness, Dead Poet's Society, Fearless, The Truman Show, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World._* He was a tremendous talent, who deserves far more credit for his work.

It was / is a fantastic movie. Mel Gibson and Sigourney Weaver made an amazing screen couple. And of course, Linda Hunt was the main trophy of this film.

I remember this film so well, after Star Wars, it was the next film that I saw twice in a theater. I wanted to see it so much when it first came out, nobody was interested in seeing it with me. I went by myself and thought it was one of the best films I’d ever seen. It was enough for me to convince some friends to come with me again. They agreed, and I was thrilled when Linda Hunt won the Oscar. I just knew she would.

One of my favorite films of all times. The romantic tension between Gibson and Weaver is magical. The same romantic tension exists between Ford and McGillis in Witness. Both films directed by Peter Weir. Linda Hunt's performance is one for the ages. Brilliant!

As an Indonesian people I`m very proud of her because in her speech Oscar winner she quoted the Indonesian phrase "Water from the moon" from one of Indonesian film she watched that even I did not know which Indonesian film she meant.

I thought maybe she meant “moon from the water” or “fetching moon from the water” which is also a Chinese saying that means an unattainable task. I’m not sure if that’s what she meant, or whether it’s also an Indonesian phrase, but a beautiful sentiment nevertheless.

One of the most beautiful voices any actress has ever been blessed with, which is why it is so often used for narration. Probably the shortest winner in this category except perhaps Anna Paquin. I thought Dyan Cannon was going to pick her up. Hunt's performance in The Year of Living Dangerously is a phenomenon--daring, feisty, and sweet.

Linda Hunt was a collegial favorite judging from the applause her peers gave the mention of her name, and rightly so. She really made the living links between the principal characters, the story line and the Indonesian background. Great performance. She "supported" like Atlas holding up the world.

Our focus right now is on producing an amazing show for our viewers that will hopefully yield many new clips for our TH-cam audience to enjoy. It is likely that new videos will not be uploaded to our channel until after the show is over.
Enjoy the show and thank you for your patience.

And music... oh my! When everything falls apart in violent world everything you have is your empathy and love.

That was a lovely acceptance speech by Linda Hunt (& a great performance in a memorable film; especially (for me) when Sigourney Weaver's walk in the rain to find Mel Gibson. ~That~'s a love scene, made in the 'old way' -not showing a lot of unnecessary skin, but still showing the heat b/w the two characters. It's almost palpable, the attraction/passion/love b/w Weaver's character & Gibson's. The soundtrack helps, too.)

It's sad but I bet tons of people have never scene this film. Vastly reccomend it. A young Mel Gibson is also pretty darn good in this too!
