As a Airframe and Power plant mech, i can appreciate fine metal work, and this is some fine work.

Seems like those curly-cues from cutting the sheet metal would be super sharp on the edges. Forbidden curly fries.

This is a very cool project I just stumbled across. It is a dream of mine to one day build a 250 GTO replica, much like you are doing here. Thanks for sharing!

Hi there! I love the build. These long and detailed videos are really enjoyable to watch, as you really showcase the artistic process of metal shaping which is not seen from major car TH-camrs. I don't know what powerplant you are going to use or have in mind, but I strongly urge you to consider the Toyota 1GZ-FE V12 from the Century Limosine sold in Japan. ITB applications have been realized in the past with this particular engine and in combination with a good exhaust system it sounds dead on to that of an Italian V12. Hopefully you are taking care in this trying time and have a nice day.

Ethan thank you for your reply! I will check out the v12 you mention about.. sounds interesting!

that is funny I was just watching the first video and I thinking the 1gz fe would be the perfect engine for this build, great minds think alike or something along those lines hehe

Amazing work being done here! Just want to know how you're putting the flanges into your shaped pieces without warping or distorting your curves you've already put into them. On the previous episode you had a beautiful curve on your door skin, but to put that flange into it (the inward flange on the tighter radius at the top of the door) would have required a lot of shrinking. Would you mind showing us which method you use to do it so neatly and quickly (could be the editing that make sit look fast)?
i am restoring a 280z over here in South Africa and we cant get any of the reproduction panels over here like you can in the States, so i am having to make them from sheet. The flange work seems to distort the panels the most and requires huge amounts of working especially when shrinking. So I am interested to see if you have any tips and tricks that i havent come across already.
Keep the series going, its great watching!

I have a lot of trouble trying to figure out the gaps in these videos. The video seems to jump over. What about the buck? Where did it come from etc? I like seeing it come together though and can fill in the gaps somewhat. I suggest finding someone to edit for you. I admire your skill and attention to detail required

Is the car finished? Is the chassis identical to the original 250? Personally I could not buy a continuation/replica without it having a Ferrari engine. The Ferrari engine is what makes this car special. I don’t know why somebody doesn’t reproduce the Colombo V12 in the US at a reasonable price. After all it’s not made of gold it’s just an engine but the name makes it expensive. There’s a company in the UK, which is manufacturing, it but like everything the UK they’re charging ridiculous prices like $100,000 for the engine. If you copy this engine in North America, I can’t see it costing more than $20,000 you just have to forget that you’re building a Ferrari engine. Without this engine the experience, it’s just not there.

How does your car compare to an original ferrari dimensionally and mechanically? What do you think of the New Zealand replica and finally would you build one for a customer? Thanks in advance.

I'm an ex fashion designer. I'd like to design something else. If you want to build a sports car, I can design the body for you, for free. I'm about to sketch it. Then you could sell it (?), or keep it for yourself.

Half of the interesting bits are just skipped over , and the rest isnt shown , compared to some others online this video is a total waste of time , maybe ok as a show case , but if your not going to show how its done , just show the end result and be done with it , I really wanted to like this video as the end results are great , just too much mystery about how it all got done.

Hi Tom! Thanks for the feedback. I am by no means a professional videographer, editor etc.
If I was going to do a step by step process, I think I would do DVDs and charge for the complete how-to info.
