Wrong, it’s because you’re dragging the tip against the skin instead of practicing the correct needle depth, you do not want the needle to barely protrude from the tip you want about 3 mm of needle
@@tetsusiega2this is wrong you use 90° for smooth lines and use 45° for shading and color packing..... also u can use 90° for packing solid color..... if u put lines in 45° they look blurry and not as sharp as they could look.
No once you turn the machine on it sticks out an additional 3 mm. So if it’s already sticking out before u turn it on that means it’s going like 6mm deep into ur skin. So he’s right
No no no, that's riding the tube. Hold your tool correctly, adjust your speed and practice pressure control. Remember line in 9, you'll be fine. Shade at 7 your colors will look like heaven.
nah u can leave the needle out at the length he had it originally… seeing your needle and where your line is going is a major part of nailing a line ! you just need to put the needle in a little deeper and control the level of depth, youll get a perfect line w the original needle depth
That's called riding the tube. And because of old school professional reasons it's frowned upon. They used all metal tips back in the day and this technique would tear into skin.
It’s old school. You can do it with the soft plastic tips and not upset the skin too badly. It is bad form and will get you called out like pushing mango. Being able to see your needle is important if you want any real fine detail control. 4 mm needle protrusion. Go 1/2 to 1 mm deep into skin
If you know not to push in like you would with a pencil, you can definitely ever so slightly FLOAT the tube. With a slim sheen of Vaseline you won't irritate the skin more than you already are
1-2mm deep and the epidermis or whatever it’s called layer of skin is only paper thin you gotta put the ink in the dermis layer of skin which is only about 1.5-2mm deep only deeper for certain situations
This is called dragging the tip and is only best done when very first starting but not for long...you need to float the needle and be able to gauge the depth you're hitting. Sometimes you want 2mm, other times 1mm depending on the part of the body...the more fatty parts you need to hit closer to 2.5-3 but there's always the danger of blow outs...which is why feeling the consistency when lining without dragging the tip is better to learn sooner than later.
To each their own…I have personally seen amazing work from artists who ride the tube with no negative outcome. It’s all about the finished product which takes lots of practice. If you learn to master that skill and it works for you go for it and don’t let the tattoo police(gestapo)or any one of these other artist out here make you feel that their opinion is the only correct way to tattoo. Ive been letting the needle hang my whole career I dont like riding its a mess. To the people out there whats the voltage whats the stroke doesn't matter it just takes practice and trying different things stuff keeps getting more easier. I used alot of give on my coils went to direct drive cordless can use any stroke as long as it more than a 3mm personally. Depth, hand speed, machine speed, an also please learn to draw. Procreate cool but draw some dammit. Tattooing trade is supposed to be a skilled trade thats for people who need to make art its our life, we cant live any other way.
(Deja mucha tinta atras y no ves como va tu linea) No corras el tubo plastico en la piel, configura mejor tu suplidor de corrientes y trabaja en tu posicion de mano, hacia donde mueves la maquina y en que angulo va la maquina.
I feel like you should have the needle out further than that because you can obliviously see that it's way to far up the tube when he adjusts it. Also, you can have the needle out farther and thats still not the case. So i dont think length is the problem
lot of dumb comments here. there are some amazing, best in the world artists pulling amazing lines riding the tube. and there are amazing artists hanging their needles. this video was then saying the needle shouldn’t be out of the cartridge when it’s not running, which is true. needle hang is personal preference. i run it out real far with 3/5’s and a medium hang with larger groupings.
Yeah I'm thinking it's the style of artist because I usto ride the tube, but now I let the needle hang out and angle my gun and it's better,,, for me, you have to figure out your style and ways, everyone is different
Take it as a loss and buy a new one But before you buy one, try fixing the one you got yourself. Learn it, try to see how it works. Next bet is to buy one anyways
Definitely wrong should never have in live that to much ink spread can’t even see line to draw.Need needle out far but only go in as deep as you need this way you can watch your needle, follow line and place a nice dark line.
Don't ride that tube yall. Learn how to control your speed and depth. That's what it comes down to. If your running at 7volts that's a different soled than 7.5 or 6 and so on. I'm sorry but the only way to really get good is the drill on skin. I started in prison if it make anyone feel better. My first client was a real body building ass nazi looked like Hitler on roids. Idk if it's the difference in blood flow or what but when I am and I hold my breath I get the straightest lines ever lol just don't let your client know lmao.
Yeah I'm gonna disagree. I've been Tattooing 26 years and I always used the tip of the Needle and NEVER the tip of the Tube. Period. An apprenticeship will teach all the correct ways to Tattoo.
For the love of god do not spread misinformation like this. Hold your machine at a 45 degree angle and naturally learn needle depth. Riding the tube is not a good way for beginners to learn
Wrong, it’s because you’re dragging the tip against the skin instead of practicing the correct needle depth, you do not want the needle to barely protrude from the tip you want about 3 mm of needle

If you know not to push in like you would with a pencil, you can definitely ever so slightly FLOAT the tube. With a slim sheen of Vaseline you won't irritate the skin more than you already are
It’s because your hand speed is too fast for your voltage

I expose my needles at approx 2mm, that's way I never go too deep, my lines are smooth and I can still see my needles.
I would love to learn tattooing but one thing confusing about trying to learn this art is all tattoo artists have a diffrent opinion??🤷🏻♂️
Well you become your own tattoo artist and then you will have your own opinion! Learn as you go!
Thank you soo much
If this is happening on real skin, high likelihood you’re just not stretching the skin enough. Either that or turn the voltage up a tad
I was told that if your lines look like this it’s because of the voltage (speed) you’re using.
Dragging the line is a problem as well, dont drag, let the needle itself do the work and have it out about 2-3mm
Nada a ver 😅
You can use that floating technique for lines just focus on the dept of the needles
Thank you
Thank you 🙏
Crazy that this is coming from Wormhole who supplies tattoo equipment to recommend riding the tube.

Not enough volts for needles size maybe not really about the needles depth
Riding the tube isn’t good advice. It’s about feel. There isn’t a perfect setting.

My machine don't rotate. What do I do?
This is teaching bad habits for people that don't like riding the tube. I control my depth by sound. Riding the tube causes excess ink spillage.
Sound is key. I’m still learning but I believe it’s the buzzing sound you are referring to
I prefer a 30 dollar tatto machine off Amazon thay always work better than expected
