Reel skin is the best(IMHO) it is just thick enough(and stretchable), if you see your work on the back, it's too deep... Also, the thing that helps me the most is not practicing flat. That is just drawing with a machine. No body part is flat. Roll up cardboard, make "body part" shapes. I even hang my skins on a round tube covered in leather on a board straight up, to mimic a back. Also training your other hand to stretch. Tattooing mindset, if you want to draw, get a sketchpad.
pringles can, fruits etc. ive used to put under my reel skin. i like the idea of wadded up cardboard as there are certain areas of body parts that don't have firm support and are very hard to get a proper stretch(eg sides above hips, backs/undersides of arms etc.) Nothing compares to actual living human skin, but preparedness and bolstering skill toward troubleshooting will save you a lot of time and heartache. You may have the steadiest hand and pull the crispiest lines but without a proper stretch they'll wobble like loose trucks on a hill bomb
It’s so fucking good, I got an 8x11 piece a few months back, and loved it, won’t touch any other brand, no point trying new brands if reelskin is that close to real skin 😅
Oranges are actually what classic artists practice on, I grew up in tattoo shops, they loved using oranges over fake skin
That being said, never pay tattoo artists who don't use any practice mediums. I know some who don't and their tatts have hairy lines and sht some of them try to make it part of their "style" but it's just unrefined skill
@selfactualizer2099 fake skin has come a *long* way
I like how you show an example of a tattoo you’ve done with the shadings . 👍🏼
The best clearest most thorough in depth video ive seen, especially with including real examples.
Thank you so much for starting off with how far your needles protrude 🙏 I feel like so many tutorials and teaching videos don't go into depth about that part

Use any electric heating blanket turn it on let it heat up roll it up or fold it into the shape of a body part lay the skin on there let the warm blanket heat up the fake skin makes it softer more like a real skin

You're a master❤
ever since ive started tattooing as a hobby ive stuck to only training on my own skin (only tried practicing on artificial skin a few times, and yeah it's much different from real skin so i quit) - i wanted it to be as hardcore as it can be lol
most of my tattoos don't look pro but actually i kinda like this grunge aesthetic my body turned out to be after 7+ (?) yrs of this hobby practicing, and it's great to see the progress (not only i see this but my friends and family too hehe)
btw the video is so pleasant to watch, thank u!
i like these tattoo pens too, they are so much more convenient and applying a tattoo feels more like you're drawing with a real pen (at least as long as its rotor); btw pencil-like sketchy lines look so cool as long as the tattoo is healed 😍
This is a great video. Thank you immensely for your work! Greetings from UK
