I'm in poker dealer training now, and that explanation was outstanding. Thank you.

This is hilarious. I like watching your Buddhist lectures and was scrolling through the video list and was like, "Shit...I am a poker player and I have no idea how that really works!" Cool.
I have been to places that will just blind you in from your stack while you go take a squirt, have a smoke, etc. We also do that for home games. I have never bought a button in a casino but I am more of a tournament guy and we NEVER leave unless on break.

@16:00 you show a possible solution to instead of posting both blinds right before the big blind and instead of waiting one hand, you post a straddle. however at some casinos they don't do any straddle. but they do allow for blind raises on that position. so could someone simply blind raise and avoid having their small blind become dead?

Good question! As always, it's up to the rules of the individual casino (and the rules of the relevant gaming authority), but in my experience most casinos that do not allow a straddle will still allow a blind min-raise, and at that point there is no reason to make you post the small blind too, since your min raise will be more than a big blind and small blind.

Thank you soooo much. I had a hard time understanding the rules I read in PokerStars Live website. This video explaines it very clearly. And just as you said there is no video on this topic out there. I would also appreciate explanations of other rules said in the website that might be difficult to absorb. Thanks again.

Helpful video, thanks. What if two players just busted out and a new player coming to the table sits down in the big blind position or somewhere else? Also it helps to know that there are no dead button situations on cash tables compared to tournaments.

If a new player sits down in the big blind, he posts the big blind, and action proceeds just as if he or she had been sitting there the whole time.

Nice video, tnx! Who acts first In the case of [8:23]? Does the UTG position act first (because he is after the actual big blind position) or does the Dealer position do it instead (because he is after the guy who posted)?

Daryl's posting his missed blinds after the button doesn't change the regular action: action pre-flop starts with the person UTG (clockwise from the big blind).

Two questions: if a person buys the button, can the person to their immediate left straddle?
2nd question: if someone posts the big blind, gets up for one hand and misses the small blind, but comes back for the next hand when he would be on the button; does he get the button? What if he posts the small blind on the button? Thank you

    Very informative video.
I think the reason it would confuse me is the dealer does it all so fast that it's hard to keep track of what's going on.
