      @@davidmjackson7784 The Marxist definition of socialism is that of an economic transition. In this transition, the sole criterion for production is use-value (i.e. direct satisfaction of human needs, or economic demands), therefore the law of value no longer directs economic activity. Marxist production for use is coordinated through conscious economic planning. Distribution of products is based on the principle of "to each according to his contribution". The social relations of socialism are characterized by the proletariat effectively controlling the means of production, either through cooperative enterprises or by public ownership or private artisanal tools and self-management. Surplus value goes to the working class and hence society as a whole.

    • @davidmjackson7784

      @@KaiserWillhelmII Not an answer since needs are not specified or quantified. Food. What type. How much. Where to grow it. How many doctors are needed when the working class don't listen to working class nutritionists and get obese and diabetic. Why is there so much alcoholism in Communist countries compromising work the working class are supposed to be doing for the good of society. Communism isn't actually productive work. That's why it's attractive to those who despise physical labour and can't do it themselves.

    • @KaiserWillhelmII
      @KaiserWillhelmII 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davidmjackson7784 Needs are what a person essentially needs to live, such as food, water, clothing, housing, entertainment. What, how much and where it is produced is determined by the people and if a commune does not produce something due to the location or for other reasons, it concludes a contract with a commune that can produce this something. What happens if an individual does not comply with the applicable laws? Uh the same as in our current social order. Just to understand Anarchists (that's what I am. Anarcho-communism to be precise) don't want a lawless state what we want is a grassroots democratic state with as non-existent and as flat herarchies as possible and yes that also applies to institutions like the police . Community policing works. And what about the lazy and fat guys, well, what should I say you bring the same arguments to the system of social democracy and yet we don't have to struggle with countless social parasites here in europe as you always claim so why should it be any different in socialism, greetings from Germany. Communism is not productive work, so if by productive you mean producing a surplus that is more than unnecessary then I agree with you, but I also don't understand why such a production method should be maintained, to give an example, we are about 7 billion people on this planet But we produce food for 10 billion annually if I lose my job due to a bad economy, for example, and after a certain period of time I simply have no more money, I have to put up with starvation (although there is enough food) Going to the store and taking what you need is theft, and now I don't know what the law is like where you live, but in Germany it is also theft if I "steal" the food that has been thrown into the trash from a store to be sure that food is not stolen, some shops in my country paint their discarded food with bleach. What I actually mean by that is that we already produce enough for everyone what capitalism cannot do is to distribute these goods fairly, even the prosperity that the working class possesses today is not a result of capitalism but an achievement of the labor movement and this movement is then as it is today mainly driven by socialists, communists and anarchists (this movement is one of the reasons why you haven't been working in a coal mine for $ 1 an hour without protective equipment for 12 hours a day 6 days a week since you were 5 years old, because otherwise your family would not be able to pay the rent for the "house" made available by your boss). Alcoholism in communist countries? So I can just think of the ussr, but alcoholism was a problem even before communism under the emperor / tsar and to make matters worse, the vodka distilleries were owned by the tsar, which is why he had no reason to solve this problem because of the profit. In fact, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin and the communist party were against drugs of all kinds and especially against alcohol, according to them alcohol was used by the rulers to keep the population calm. "Death is preferable to selling vodka!" Lenin declared prior to the revolution. True to his prohibitionist principles, he held fast to that conviction after seizing power. Even with vodka’s counterrevolutionary threat subsiding, Lenin's ruling Sovnarkom, or Council of People’s Commissars… nationalized all alcohol production facilities and existing alcohol stocks. In 1919, Sovnarkom forbid distilling “by any means, in any quantity and at any strength” - punishable by confiscation of all property and a minimum of five years in Siberian labor camps. “Whatever the peasant wants in the way of material things we will give him, as long as they do not imperil the health or morals of the nation,” Lenin famously declared late in life. “But if he asks for ikons or booze - these things we will not make for him. For that is definitely retreat; that is definitely degeneration that leads him backward. Concession of this sort we will not make; we shall rather sacrifice any temporary advantage that might be gained from such concessions. ". Vodka was only available again under Josef Stalin and this led the ussr away from socialism and towards state capitalism. And no, I'm not saying that it wasn't socialism because they failed, but because the economic and governmental system under Stalin fits 1 to 1 with what Karl Marx described in his books as state capitalism. I hope I was able to explain everything reasonably well (explaining is not really my strength) but it turned out to be a very long text, should there still be questions or if new ones have come up I recommend the TH-cam channels NonCompete which has many explanatory videos and also a
      playlist where he explains how anarchism works (communism is anarchist by nature) and many more and also RichardDWollf's channel who explains how a socialist economy works and also a few other topics. I hope that, despite the many spelling and grammatical errors, everything is understandable (as German, English is unsuprisingly not my mother tongue) and if a question arises to which the youtubers I recommend don't have an answer, I'll be happy to look for a video where your question will hopefully be answered (but I don't write such a long and detailed text anymore. I've been sitting there for about 4.5 hours since I got home from work and I won't write such a long text again if you can just check out a video where it is explained as well or better I hope you understand). So have a nice day.

So far it has worked because on the other side of leftism you have anarchism and smaller government socialism which has always failed in the military part since everyone acts essential like a tribe not one single entity. On to the 2nd part it was observed during the first capitalist revolution (English revolution) by John Locke that revolutionaries took over the state. Why did they do that? They did it so they can issue private property laws and establish public goods. With this in mind all high income capitalist states today have "big" governments. I will use an example, iPhones were created by Steve's jobs genius yes but the 2 technologies that made it a great product was TCIP and GPS. 2 inventions of the US Navy and DARPA. The 3/5 of the cost of the iphone was paid for by the US government. This is true for alot of other things like how alot of industry leading people today were educated in public schools/universities, for cars to take off they needed the government to build roads and highways were built by the government so just without that transporting and huge companies we have today couldnt live without out it.
