I can't blame Ace at all. I had a really well-paying advertising job in 1991. I got promoted with a major jump in pay , but I was certainly killing me. I worked Saturdays and a few hours Sunday. I couldn't sleep since my mind was whirling with dread upon going back to work Monday morning. I got a lot of flack from my family and friends when I went to a minimum wage job. Eventually, I started making a good living doing what I wanted to do. Glad Ace is still alive.

People can say whatever they want. The fact is, the original line-up were the best Kiss ever got. The band kept going, but it was boring. They made money, which is what it was about by the time the originals split. But the only Kiss worth hearing today came from the original line up.

Saw Kiss 75,76,77,78,79. Stop going to see them after Dynasty. Saw them again on Kiss Alive 35. The reason I went to that show was Modern Day Delilah. Even though I live in North Carolina, the Virginia Beach Station was playing it and I liked it. Loved the concert too. When my daughter was 4, took her to see KISS. Paul Stanley threw guitar picks at her until she finally got one. Adults were all over her keeping her from getting one. When we went to seem them the next tour, Gene Simmons was back stage and you could see him during the DEAD DAISIES show. A guy came by and said, here is a pick from Gene Simmons for your daughter. She was 6 or 7. So, in my eyes, the guys are great. However, Dressed to Kill Kiss is the best.

I saw them 10 times through the years , would have been 11 had they not cancelled Creatures of the Night tour in Asheville. My understanding was the Plasmatics were opening for them at that time , figures :(
Anyway , i thought the Hot in the Shade tour was one of the best that they did. Made sure to see it twice.

For me Motley Crue opened up on the Creatures Tour (playing Shout at the Devil before its release), and that was in and of itself amazing. Add to the mix Vinny, and the show was one of the best in spite of no Ace. Me being the Ace fanatic was also won over by how awesome they sounded. Before the encore, they invited everyone from the nose bleeds to the floor where I made my way to about the 3rd row. So many good memories with KISS.

  • @thebluesrockers
    @thebluesrockers 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Kiss would have probably faded completely out if Ace had stayed. The reason I feel that way is because Kiss became a business in the 70's. Nobody was talking anymore. Gene was trying to get in movies, and making investments all the time. Paul didn't talk to anyone either.
Eric Car was just along for the ride. Ace's song writing wasn't strong enough to keep Kiss on top. Gene and Paul wasn't writing much back then either. The quality of the magic was over after "Love Gun" But I do agree that Vinny damn near wrote all of "Lick It Up" and I believe he only wrote 3 songs on "Creatures" but he wrote my Favorite none makeup tunes with "Young & Wasted" & "Not For The Innocent" damn those songs rock! Not a single song on "Dynasty" can compete with those.

The first time I found out that Ace was no longer in KISS was AT the Palm Beach Auditorium, when Vinnie showed up on stage instead of Ace..... I too, was BLOWN AWAY by how GOOD the Plasmatics were. I had never heard them before but, I knew they were punk rockers & had mohawks. I was expecting them to suck but, was surprised by how awesome they sounded. I don't think they stole the show from KISS but, they clearly held their own against them. I ran out & bought Coupe De Tate the very next day.
It's cool that we were at the same show. There's no way to know but, it would be cool if we actually passed each other up. I was in the 8th. row on the floor, slightly right of center stage. If you were anywhere in that area & you saw a guy with pupils the size of quarters, that was either me or one of the 3 guys & came with.

Ace Frehley has engineered his own misfortune and poverty thousands of times. Gene and Paul's drive and professionalism were the only reason he remained remotely productive.
The fact that he was a founding member of one of the most successful American rock bands of all time and still owes millions to the IRS tells you everything you need to know.
Ace was an incredible talent from 1972-1978 but he couldn't get out of his own way and his laziness and arrogance cost him dearly.

Biggest mistake in the career of a musician has always been to overestimate himself in importance to a failing band. Vinnie may have saved KITH as well as Eric Carr did, but unlike Carr, Vinnie, an experienced career professional musician, expected to be recognized and properly compensated for his contributions, but maybe he should have spoken to Ace to find out why he quit before wasting his time in that band. Yes, the long solos were a nuisance but then again, KITH at the time was an aimless band that no longer led but followed trends, clumsily. At the time and even now, Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent were the best and most talented members of the band’s history aside from Ace Frehley.

Of course the lawyer "got it," seems Ace was the one who didn't "get" that the only reason the lawyer even talked to him was because of the money.
Also, while I used to enjoy Kiss "drama," read all the books and so on, it has gotten really tiresome lately - around the start of the "End of the Road" tour, I'd say. Should've shut up, all of them. And like Fukk says on the video, Ace kinda ruined his image with the begging. Us fans knew that G&P would never take him back, but somehow Ace didn't. In the end, when it comes to the personal stuff, I have most respect for Peter. He actually complimented the other members in his book, too, while Paul certainly didn't, and even took credit from the works of Sean Delaney and Dennis Woloch.

Glad I got to experience the show of the original 4 in ‘96, but because of Ace’s vices and his lack of practice, and Peter’s lack of ability as a rock drummer, it was a letdown the next two tours.
Great “shows” but the music wasn’t what it could have been.
But - people still blame Gene & Paul for everything. You know, the two who carried on twice without the other two. May not have been the same, but they did. Ace did ok (and finally sobered up - far too late), and Peter pretty much disappeared.

  • @manolokonosko594

I place Gene and Paul of KITH on a par with Paul McCartney and Axl Rose: they went through a million musicians at the studio amd onstage because they all quit. These professional musicians just could no longer tolerate the diva like unprofessional behavior of their famous employers. This also is a reason why KITH went through so many producers in their careers existence. Paul Thtanley was the type of puto that desperately called for a severe byatch-slap but Gene was like John Lennon, all wind and no action. Ace, despite his many faults, was many times the voice of reason musically speaking, but even he couldn’t work with those two Hebraic club clowns anymore.

    • @HappyMachorino-bd8no

      "Hebraic Club"?
      That's not the point.
Ace's addiction💉+🥃was so dramatic that he could have killed himself. No matter in which band.
Do you think in a Catholic band he would have been a different person? Ha!
His personality is in his DNA.
Paul and Gene have nothing to do with it. Only Ace's parents and grandparents and and and.
      Ace was born suicidal.
      He needed professional help.

Ace and Peter both screwed themselves out of a lot of money by quitting, (or getting fired) from the band, and have nobody to blame but themselves. They should have gotten clean, improved their lifestyles, and improved their playing, but they did not do that. They both probably thought they were going to be "big stars" after leaving, but that did not happen. Ace makes no sense when he talks. Look up the video from '93 where someone recorded him arguing with his manager. He looked like he was at rock bottom and I bet he couldn't wait to get back in KISS.

KISS never recovered from losing Vinnie. They recovered quickly from losing Ace (with Vinnie) - musically and image-wise. By then the public was tuned out. But we who were there thru those lean years remember Vinnie WELL from the time. Mark and then Bruce were watered down with no songwriting prowess or vocal ability. So they really lost out with Vinnie, although he was also a nightmare for Paul. Gene would have kept Vinnie any day...Paul always wanted to be the best guitarist in KISS.

The others got famous/broke out and we left KISS and the disco pop shit they were making with Dynasty and Unmasked behind to follow Saxon, AC/DC, Motorhead that made it way to American radio around 79-80.

He is only out there because he owes IRS money AND his ego keeps telling him he is great! I am amazed that his band has put up with it as long as they have. He has lost a great deal of weight in a hurry and that usually means bad things.
