Haven't played the village one. But I love the two other ones. I honestly think Builders and Biomes would be regarded way higher if not for the theme. It's a solid thematic euro game. Which is rare.
You can get rid of some of the fiddliness in portal dash by turning the queue into a circular buffer of monsters. You put the monsters in a circle, with a marker for front of queue (where you pick up new monsters) and a marker for end (for defeated monsters). It’s quick and easy to put monsters at the front and back because you never have to rearrange them! They just keep going around the circle! Maybe that’ll up your score? I love portal dash!
For the Heroes of the village the "player aid" is beneath the "inventory" where you place the blocks you mined although it's just the icons on your character board, you see it @5:53 since the game is aimed at a younger crowed its easier for them to understand icons once explained over text when they can't yet fully read. Thank you Camilla for the video ❤
I just bought and played Builders and Biomes with my mum. We enjoyed it but it is a bit slow for us and I had to keep giving her the options she had available to her. Portal Dash sounds enticing as I do like cooperative games and decisions. Heroes of the Village sounds a lot more simple. Like my mum would grasp it easier herself, but maybe we'd both get bored of it. Although Builders and Biomes was a little complex for my fellow player, it did at least keep things interesting when the goals changed, and as mentioned in the video it absolutely caters to different play styles, and actually she won by fighting more while I was focusing on building.
Hey Camilla, What are the age ranges of your kiddos? I'm interested in Builders & Biomes for your same reasons. I have a 10yr old and 7yr old and have been wondering if my 7yr old and even 10yr old can handle logic of the game?
My son is 10 now, but we started playing this with him when he was 8. He was able to handle the logic of the game, but to be fair he logic is more "ooo! a diamond sword! I can fight!" But who am I to judge when he has beaten me with this mindset :)
@@MillaCleg lol totally understand. Honestly at 38, I still play with the "Oooo" mindset half the time! I (sure we) would love to see a top 5/10 family games you enjoy playing. Thank you :-)

Our kids continue to play the Mattel Minecraft card game over these. Its often packed for trips.

Ooo, I was looking to pick one of these up for my nephews just yesterday, had no idea which one to go with, so the timing of this one is immaculate!
Very helpful information. Thank you, 'Milla!
