Is it a rampant? You have built defenses, you have developed technologies and even made outposts - almost like in vanilla, only biters of several types, but there are many mods for this (for example, from Schallfalke). A real rampant begins with an attack on the second night, regardless of pollution and the distance of the hives, and every night the attacks only intensify, so much so that half of the iron has to be sent to the production of ammunition. Rampant is also famous for sudden spawns of hives in a fenced area (the so-called paratroopers). Where is it all? Cut out? What for? And the defeat in the last minutes is not surprising - even in vanilla in the later stages of evolution, you have to put machine guns one to one and supply uranium ammunition. In some places, even two lines of turrets can't cope and you need to put up a third row ... Such a defense, as in that long-suffering corner, is no good at all. Like for trying, but this is weak content.
Wtf. I loved this edited let’s play with rampant. And setting the difficulty for a mod is a hard thing to do. (Mfw: People mod mods😳😳😳???!) calling this weak content is harsh, when there are unedited 1000 hour let’s plays vomited on TH-cam.
I play Rampant now, no extra mods, default everything. I dont get it. I rarely see evolution, and have no walls 10 hours in (since i had not yet had a struggle). No evolution past acid. Any tips on rampant settings to make it work how it supposed to, but not as deathworld?
Oh cool! Hadn't realised the series went to voice after the first couple of episodes. :D And the supercut is just in time for a twelve hour night shift I agreed to do. Perfection!
You deserve a ton of recognition, you're much like Dosh, and I'm sure you've heard his name since you're in the factorio business, I'm certain you'll do great things, so please stick with it!
Thank you! Dosh was definitely an inspiration for my making these videos but I do try to be different because there’s already a dosh and he knows how to do it a lot better than I do.
Love the vid work you’re doing. I’m running on over 6,000 hours but find it amazing that I still pick up helpful design snippets. I like you style of narration.
Watching this I realized that I truly play like an ape. I use belts to connect everything, no trains in my base. Who is this logic circuit and what does he want? Also spamming swathes of land with solar panels and batteries, they are like 1/2 of my base at this point 😅
Love your “I truly play like an ape” ❤️. I’ve actually played in full cheat mode and console commands and everything because I was impatient to see what 16 rockets a minute looked like. Train jam. So start over studying different track designs to avoid gridlock with 300 trains running. It was a fun journey but I love vanilla with a few mods that make more sense in game play.
I don't remember from where and cannot find it right now, but I remember that you don't actually need that much uranium for a 4 reactor setup. People often forget that while it takes 10 uranium ore per isotope, the end product of nuclear fuel gives 10x per the shiny isotope. I distinctly remember something about you only needing some small number of miners working to keep a 4 reactor setup running indefinitly. That might have been an argument against fuel efficient reactors that turn off reactor to make cells last longer tho.
I’m sure that’s right, but if I’m already gonna make a centrifuge setup there’s no harm making more than I need, especially since I didn’t know if I was going to go into uranium ammo or atomic bombs later on.
@@ripecontext True, a regret of my vanilla playthrough where I aimed for all achievements is that I made a korarex setup with full beacons, I ended up with too much of shiny isotope after noticing that im no longer producing any uranium ammo.
Correct, I think it is something like 1-1-1 miner to centrifuge to reactor. You usually want a little more, just to guard against bad RNG and to build up a reserve in case you want to start kovarex for nukes. You also might want more here to ensure enough 238 for green ammo.
When I played rampant, I had about the same experience as you. - Way too overprepared - Way too much prep time with 2 small, tiny differences: 1. Nuclear biters showed up on my southwestern front, nearly shredding my defenses multiple times and me having to completely redesign my perimeter on that front 2. One of my outposts was hit by... i forgot what the biters were called, but it was a combination of hyper tanky biters and the biters that, if they destroy your buildings, leave a crystal in the spot of that building that suck your bases power dry if you don't manage to destroy them or cut them off. Those would've caused a domino effect of losing nearly every front if I didn't manage to cut off that outpost from my power grid. That wasn't everything, only the 2 most notable things that happened. And my run wasn't over with a rocket, I played that with space exploration. (which in hindsight wasn't the best idea)
Helpful suggestions: You can definitely improve your use of blueprints and copy-paste! E.g. connecting 24 chest with wire: you need to manually connect maybe 2-3 wires, the rest can be copy-pasted. E.g. place 8 flamethrowers in equal distance along a wall: After placing 3-4, copy and then paste a 4 flamethrower segment, instead of the 1 flamethrower segment!!!
100 hours into my game i was wondering why "leviathans" only have 200ish health and found in the settings a field that sets precisely the fina health for em. The max value is around 30k. Gonna do that next game, ill write here if i survive
I did the exact same thing, messing around with circuits and combinators for 2 hours trying to get that reactor to work properly. Then the simple solution of "put one in when an empty one comes out" provided by the wiki made me feel stupid lol.
Probably too late, but a few FYIs about DPS. The turrets do more damage than the player, as the bullet damage is added twice (once for the ammo and once for the turrets). For taking out the worms and nests, the shotgun has much higher damage for the resource cost, much higher than the SMG. The best is to use turrets to take out the biters, and then shotgun the nests.
I'm just a baby at ~400 hours. I cranked the vanilla difficulty just a little but I was able to achieve world peace by not walking out of a 49^2 chunk area. As long as you pollution cloud doesn't roll over you only generate 20 chunks out from where you've been
I gotta say, the captions were a bit distracting because they were so big and at the top of the screen as opposed to the bottom. And considering that you are not that hard to understand, I think the video might have done well without the captions at all.
Just incase you missed it, this is a previous series I made which i stitched together. The first two parts were text only, so those “captions” were the only thing that was there, no voiceover. The voiceover in the first two parts were added in by me when i put it together, the voiceover in the last two parts was already there so that’s why there’s no captions in them.
I installed Rampant after my last aborted playthru (I just start over if I go too long without playing). My last one, I changed the biter settings to the point where I was getting attacked day 2? All I know is I was fighting for my life with the pistol before I even had turrets researched. I figured I'm ready for Rampant after playing like that. I toned the max group size down and instead cranked up the range and the minimum so every group is always maxed. Lets see how it goes. I have a bunch of fail safe stuff installed in case the combat gets too crazy.
Yeah, the DOOM image fits well. I'd think that a human vs. zerg pic might be even better; after all, the player is human and the smaller biters resemble zerglings.
i do, anything better runs too slow on my computer, so i make the majority of the video in movie maker and then anything that needs any finer editing i use davinci resolve and then put the clip into movie maker
Because it turns the nuclear plant from a constant producer, one that produces the same amount of power regardless of whether it’s being used, into a demand producer, which only used as much fuel as is required to feed the power consumption. Quite a lot of people do that.

🤓
Might be Rampant at the lowest difficulty possible, rather than its default settings.
I guess it is the effect of rampant evolution, that counterbalances it? (Have not yet played it)

Text + voiceover is really nice. Thanks from me and every other ESL person.

Equal distribution is a mod I just cant live without now that Ive used it.

wish you were playing on ultimate death world rampant.
This mod really embrases the zerg like nature of the biters.

Ad armored bitters and death world like Dosh and it will become out right impossible.

56:48 get out of my swamp!
ima be honest i only clicked on the video because of your nicely edited DOOM thumbnail
Using granades is not gentle, the way you gently get trough a forrestis only chopping down trees in a single line by hand.
The thumbnail is cool
Yeah, the DOOM image fits well. I'd think that a human vs. zerg pic might be even better; after all, the player is human and the smaller biters resemble zerglings.
Does anyone know the name of the mod that prevents biters attacking rails/power poles?
It’s a mod setting in rampant
Reject Bus, Return to spagetti
you still have windows movie maker?
i do, anything better runs too slow on my computer, so i make the majority of the video in movie maker and then anything that needs any finer editing i use davinci resolve and then put the clip into movie maker
@@ripecontext I personally miss movie maker. it was so simple and easy to use
Cool vid :)
are you from the Uk?
That’s right
@@ripecontext your videos are very cool I like the format
Why would you set up automation on a nuclear reactor? Nobody does that.

nobody except most people lmao
cool
Sushi is better then spaghetti
I had to stop when it got to the trains. It was too unbearable to watch ☠️
How so?
Do this but add krastorio 2 AND space exploration! And keep the weapon mods
